Community Golf Course

Dayton, Ohio, USASouthwestern Ohio

Community Golf Course in Dayton, Ohio delivers a balanced public golfing experience with two 18-hole layouts, blending gentle elevation and approachable design. Its rolling terrain and well-maintained fairways offer playability suited to a wide range of golfers seeking friendly, straightforward rounds.

Course Overview

Community Golf Course in Dayton, Ohio offers an approachable and varied golfing experience that welcomes players of all skill levels. With 18 holes spread across two distinct layouts, the course presents a range of challenges highlighted by rolling terrain and subtle elevation changes that create a more engaging round than the parkland setting might first suggest. Known locally for its friendly atmosphere and well-kept fairways, this public course provides a balance between playability and strategic design that encourages thoughtful shot-making without overwhelming newcomers.

The course's two options offer a choice between a slightly shorter layout and the longer Hills course, which extends the test with added yardage and elevation shifts. Both routes feature generous fairways but can demand precision as approach shots land on greens that vary in firmness and smoothness depending on the season. While some putting surfaces may show wear early in the year, ongoing maintenance keeps conditions fair and enjoyable through most of the season.

Set amid the gently rolling landscape of southwestern Ohio, the course’s setting invites players to engage with natural contours rather than dramatic features. Occasional bunkers are placed to protect greens and strategically shape risk-reward decisions. Golfers who enjoy a round that rewards thoughtful club selection and patience will appreciate this balance. Though the course welcomes players of every ability, those seeking a true challenge will find it on the longer layout, especially during warmer months when conditions firm up.

Facilities emphasize convenience and accessibility, with efficient tee times and friendly staff who make the experience welcoming from start to finish. Golf carts are available but walking is encouraged for a more traditional pace of play, with well-maintained cart paths and terrain that suits most footwear choices. Warm weather months are ideal for those wanting to enjoy the natural Ohio landscape, though summer highs can rise significantly, so hydration is key.

Community Golf Course offers a reliable public venue where players can enjoy a solid round of golf without the frills. Its combination of sensible design, natural elevation, and welcoming staff make it a dependable choice for local golfers or visitors passing through Dayton seeking a straightforward and well-structured outing.

Course Highlights

Two 18-hole layouts including the longer Hills course provide variety and elevation changes uncommon in typical Midwest parkland courses. Bunkers positioned to challenge approach shots and natural elevation shifts add strategic elements. Friendly staff and availability of carts support an accessible experience.

Love playing here, good course. Change the website back. Seriously it’s almost unusable now: doesn’t show price, filter criteria do not work at all (it simply shows every tee time). Don’t understand why the website was “updated” to look and function like it’s 20 years older than the previous one.You are going to lose business if it’s this difficult to find a tee time. License out to “GolfNow” if you don’t want to deal with online booking.

Played this course a few weeks ago and overall it’s a good course! A couple of the putting greens definitely need some work, but other than that it was pretty well maintained. A fun course with some good variety in shot lay out. One thing I’d appreciate is being able to have a cooler, I understand not wanting outside alcohol, but every other course has allowed me to bring a small cooler for days that it is 90+ degrees so I can have waters and lemonades

Very nice public course. We went Saturday with a 12:30 tee time. It was $38 with a cart and 18 holes. There’s two course to choose from, Hills being 1000 yards longer than the other. Some of the holes were just spectacularly beautiful and challenging. Others just mediocre. There was one hole that didn’t have a green, just had to hit into the center of a spray painted circle and then add two strokes lol. Other than that is was superb. Staff was friendly and helpful, other two golfers we paired up with were cool, just an overall great experience other than it was about 90 degrees… Being a Saturday afternoon it was pretty busy, but pace of play wasn’t too bad at all. I mostly play in the Columbus and Cleveland areas, so having a bit of elevation is pretty cool. Can’t wait to play again.

Played the Hills course a few days ago. Fun course. Tee boxes a bit rough, but it is March. Staff and workers are always very helpful and friendly.
