Stratton Mountain Golf Course
Stratton Mountain Golf Course presents a compelling mountain golf experience across three unique 9-hole loops, each offering varied terrain and challenges. From wooded fairways to lakeside holes and sweeping elevations, it combines accessible playability with striking natural scenery.
Course Overview
Stratton Mountain Golf Course offers a dynamic golf experience set amidst the rolling elevations of southern Vermont’s Green Mountains. This resort-operated facility features three distinct 9-hole layouts—Forest, Lake, and Mountain—all combining to form a versatile 27-hole complex. Each course presents its own character: the Forest course challenges with dense tree-lined fairways and elevation shifts; the Lake course unfolds through open terrain alongside sparkling water features; and the Mountain course tests strategy through generous undulations and panoramic views.
The natural landscape plays an active role here, with holes that weave through mature woodlands occasionally opening to expansive vistas of neighboring mountain ridges. Elevation changes are a defining element, influencing club selection and demanding careful attention to shot placement. Golfers will find the Forest course particularly engaging for those seeking a test of precision under tree canopies, while the Lake course’s relaxed atmosphere suits players of varying skill levels seeking playability combined with visual appeal.
Greens at Stratton Mountain are well maintained, with subtle breaks adding an extra dimension to putting. The terrain’s elevation also means golfers should prepare for varied walking conditions, especially on the Mountain layout, where some holes climb and descend sharply. The course accommodates a broad range of abilities, making it an inviting destination for families, resort guests, and enthusiasts aiming to sharpen different aspects of their game.
Beyond the fairways, the clubhouse offers a casual setting for post-round relaxation with food and beverage service that complements the relaxed mountain ambiance. The staff’s attentive service helps round out the experience, ensuring that visitors feel welcome whether returning during the busy summer season or quieter shoulder months.
With its combination of natural beauty, thoughtful layout, and player-friendly approach, Stratton Mountain Golf Course provides an engaging round framed by the rugged charm of Vermont’s mountain environment. It invites golfers to embrace both the challenge and serenity that outdoor golf amid changing terrain can offer.
Course Highlights
The three-course layout showcases diverse mountain terrain with notable elevation changes that affect shot strategy. The Forest course’s tree-lined corridors contrast with open lakeside holes of the Lake course, while the Mountain course offers sweeping views and rolling fairways. Well-maintained greens with subtle contours test putting skills, and scenic overlooks provide memorable backdrops throughout the round.

This is a great course for beginners. I played all 3 (Forrest, Lake, Mountain). I felt the forrest was most challenging. All the courses were very well maintained. The views are awesome and so relaxing. The staff was great and very friendly. I highly recommend for beginners and can't wait to return.

I've been coming here for years with my friends and it is one of our favorites! There's nothing like Summer at Stratton and we always find time to play here. It's clean, it's quiet (generally) and the courses are fun and challenging. We do have a love/hate relationship with the Forest course (especially the 5th hole which must have been designed by a sadist) but I digress. The staff is incredibly helpful and attentive as well. Great place!

Outstanding views/scenery, decent shape (although greens rolling around an 8), some good holes (played Lake/Forest). A lot of elevation change. Silly tight in several spots. Potential to be an above average course architecturally, but you’d be looking at a significant overhaul of at least 5-6 holes. As long as your expectations aren’t for an excellent championship course, you can have a fun day out there.

Had Thursday morning tee time for a foursome. $115 per player for mid-week is a little pricey but heard good things about course. First got there and driving range closed for the morning, no warm up. Gas carts were old and tired. No windshield on ours and no divot mix. Saw beverage cart at clubhouse when we were teeing off and never saw it again, and it was a hot day. Course was in very good shape. Pace of play was excellent, we player in 4 hours. The course was a typical mountain course but seemed extreme. Lots of left and right hand turns, straight up a hill shots. A little too much hit a spot to mange the course. One par 5 we hit 7 irons to a spot to then hit three woods to get around a dogleg. Staff were not the most pleasant I have ever encountered. This final not the course but Stratton. We went to Stratton Village to have a nice lunch at Milligans (assumes it’s a golf themed restaurant?) does it open to 4 pm and only a breakfast place open in Village, drove to Dover and ate at The Saloon.

Beautiful golf course in lovely Vermont, with rolling g hills, a lake, and picturesque views of the mountains. Visited in the peak of the fall season and enjoyed a crisp, sunny day. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
