Stone Ridge Golf Club
Stone Ridge Golf Club offers a rugged mountain experience with 18 holes wrapped in natural hills, wetlands, and native wildlife. This public course balances accessible play with thoughtful design, inviting golfers of all levels to enjoy its varied terrain and peaceful setting.
Course Overview
Stone Ridge Golf Club, located just east of Eagle Point, Oregon, offers an engaging 18-hole layout that invites golfers into a rugged yet accessible mountain setting. This public course blends gently rolling terrain with native grasses, creeks, and quiet stands of trees, delivering a course design that flows naturally with the land’s contours rather than imposing an artificial frame. The fairways thread through undulating hills and wetlands, demanding strategic shot-making as much as length off the tee. Players regularly encounter local wildlife including deer, hawks, ducks, and turkeys, adding an unexpected layer of connection with the environment.
This course showcases poa annua putting surfaces that provide true and consistent roll even during Oregon’s wetter months. Tee boxes vary between gently elevated black tees tucked back in vegetation and more exposed blue, white, and red tees placed for a sweeping course perspective. While some tee areas might feel uneven, the fairways offer a satisfying rhythm of bends and elevation changes that reward golfers who shape shots left and right. Stone Ridge challenges without overwhelming, with hole lengths that accommodate a wide range of handicaps. Walkers will find the terrain manageable but should be prepared for occasional soft or muddy patches, especially early in the year. A cart is recommended for comfort but walking remains popular.
Beyond the course, the friendly staff enhance the welcoming atmosphere here. The clubhouse area, modest yet inviting, complements the natural surroundings rather than overshadowing them. Seasonal events such as the Military Appreciation Tournament highlight community engagement and add a spirited dimension to play.
Stone Ridge may not compete with the longest championship tracks but it delivers a memorable mountain golf experience with wild vistas, thoughtful design, and an approachable challenge. It is a course where all levels can discover rhythm in the rolling hills and pause to appreciate Oregon’s wildlife and natural quiet.
Course Highlights
Stone Ridge stands out with its integration into native foothills, creating fairways that wind purposefully around wetlands and natural valleys. Its poa annua greens offer reliable putting surfaces year-round. Wildlife sightings, from bald eagles to deer, enrich the experience, while the elevation changes and shaped holes provide keen strategic moments without penalizing less experienced players.

My wife Shannon and I played here last week. What a wonderful course. It's designed around the natural hills and draws of the area adding interesting play, certainly not a simple back and forth course. We saw deer and a Bald Eagle on course. Friendly staff too. Note: we walked enjoyed walking it, but some folks may want to opt for a cart.

Great course! Played the Military Appreciation Tournament and had a blast. Got to meet the owner and talk about the future of the course. I can say I will be playing there often! Love it!

Played it today. Walked it in the mud. It's oregon what do you want. I was impressed with the greens considering it's January. Many interesting holes. All I will say is have your big kids pants on if you walk. The first two in the mud were tough lol. But it leveled out. Over all the views, course, staff were great

This is an excellent track with beautiful views teaming with wildlife. It's also in a quiet area not lined with houses; this is how golf should be played. It would be 5 stars but next to some of the greens it's a little scrubby from water sitting there. They should just make them grass bunkers with drainage. Some of the tee boxes are uneven but you can find a flat spot. Some dirt/sand would sure help level them out. The greens are poa-ana with nice true rolls. The black tee boxes are tucked back in the flora/fauna and blue/white/red spread out in front. If this course had top maintenance it could be a 5+ star course. It is not a goat track nor a cow pasture. Tee boxes are elevated and fairways have a nice flow. Some are shaped both left and right. It's not long enough for pro's but perfect for most golfers. I'm comparing to courses in Southern California and Hawaii where I have spent my 50 years of playing golf. played on 3-30-18. Winter/spring conditions 90* cart rule. 2 species of hawks, northern flickers, many different ducks, Canadian geese, turkeys, lakes surrounded by reeds are some of the nature here.
