Course Overview

Ponemah Green Family Golf Center in Amherst, New Hampshire, offers an inviting introduction to golf that suits beginners and families seeking a welcoming atmosphere to learn and play. This 18-hole family course features a thoughtfully designed layout that balances accessibility with enough variations to keep rounds engaging. The course’s terrain blends gently rolling fairways with pockets of wetlands and wooded areas, creating natural boundaries that shape strategy without overwhelming novice players. While not a championship test, Ponemah Green’s approachable scale and forgiving greens encourage steady improvement, making it an ideal choice for those new to the game or players bringing children along.

The facility’s driving range stands out with both grass and covered teeing areas, a valuable amenity that serves golfers regardless of weather conditions. The practice facility is well maintained, offering a practical space to hone basic skills. Throughout the course, players can appreciate the friendly staff who enhance the experience with genuine warmth and helpfulness, a factor often highlighted by visitors.

Course maintenance presents a mixed picture. While greens and tee boxes sometimes show signs of wear, typical for a family-focused and budget-friendly operation, the overall grounds remain playable and accessible. Visitors should expect occasional delays during busier holiday weekends due to tight tee time intervals, which may affect pace of play. Planning a weekday visit or an early tee time can help avoid congestion and ensure a smoother experience.

Ponemah Green embraces a relaxed pace and environment where players of all ages can enjoy the game together. The presence of water features and wooded sections offers mild challenges and visual interest, contributing to a varied round that lightly tests shot selection and course management without intimidating newcomers. Additional perks like on-site snack options, including ice cream, add a casual charm that complements the family-friendly spirit.

For golfers looking to introduce loved ones to golf in a gentle, supportive setting, Ponemah Green Family Golf Center grants both the space and the spirit for growth. Expect modest but meaningful moments to connect with the game and those around you as the course gently unfolds its accessible terrain.

The course itself is nice enough as it's marketed as a "family golf course" that's relatively cheap. The greens aren't very well maintained and the tee boxes are a mess, but it's cheap and cost appropriate. The grounds keepers often turn sprinklers on and due course maintenance in the middle of the day and interrupt your play. As a family course welcome to beginners and children, you can usually expect delays ranging from 10-30 minutes during weekends/busy times. On Memorial Day this year, the delay was over 2 hours with absolutely zero moderation from staff. This course can be played by beginners in 1.5-2 hours - there is no world in which it should take 3.5 hours to play through. The only reason it doesn't get a 1 star review is because they offered a rain check due to their delay. The delay was beyond reasonable even for a holiday on a family course.

Practice balls are a little old but the range is generally in good shape. The gentleman in the pro shop is super sweet and kind. Love that they have actual grass on a part of the range as well.

Great beginner golf course. Offers a good variety of holes that are well maintained. There’s a good amount of woods/water features so if you go to late at night it can get very buggy! The driving range is also very nice and it is also covered.

Great experience. Brand new carpets, fun courses, beautiful scenery, and very friendly staff. The option to get food and ice cream after is a fantastic touch!

Great course for family and kids learning. Friendly and helpful young guy at the desk. Reasonable rates. But as others said, the tee times were too close together. It was a log jam the whole time with up to 3 groups at once waiting at 1 hole. It seems like tee times 10-12 minutes apart would be better than 8 minutes? Just an observation to consider.
