Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort
Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort offers 18 holes of parkland golf set in Mississippi’s woodlands, delivering a straightforward layout rich with natural features. While the course is approachable for varying skill levels, recent maintenance issues suggest visitors prepare for a work-in-progress experience complemented by friendly service and updated carts.
Course Overview
Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort presents an 18-hole golf experience set amid the natural woodlands of Gautier, Mississippi. This public-access course unfolds across gently rolling terrain, blending traditional parkland characteristics with local Southern charm. Trees line many holes, framing fairways with a quiet resilience, while several water hazards come into play, requiring thoughtful shot placement and strategic course management. The layout caters to players seeking a straightforward round, offering enough variety to intrigue mid-to-high handicappers but without the penal challenges that confront more expert golfers.
The course's condition has faced challenges in recent seasons, with fairways showing uneven patches and greens suffering from inconsistent surfaces. These factors have impacted the pace and quality of play, though the yardage book provided aids navigation and club selection throughout your round. Hickory Hill's design encourages a patient approach, rewarding well-measured iron shots and solid course mapping rather than aggressive power plays.
On-site amenities include a clubhouse offering a welcoming atmosphere for post-round relaxation. The resort environment extends hospitality beyond the course, with practice facilities suitable for players tuning their swing or warming up before tee time. Golf carts are available, featuring newly updated models without onboard GPS, making a cart rental a practical choice especially on warmer days.
Walking is permitted, and while the terrain is manageable, players should wear comfortable shoes for occasional uneven ground and take care in areas with under-repair cart paths. With courteous staff on hand to assist, Hickory Hill aims to serve as a welcoming Southern golf destination for those exploring Mississippi’s range of courses.
While the course currently requires ongoing attention to return to its full potential, it remains a place where local players enjoy steady rounds. Visitors should plan accordingly, balancing expectations with the character of a course in transition, yet still rich in natural beauty and straightforward golf appeal.
Course Highlights
Hickory Hill offers a classic parkland design with tree-framed fairways and water hazards positioned to influence strategy. The course combines straightforward routing with natural Southern landscape elements, supported by recently refreshed golf carts and a welcoming clubhouse environment. Its approachable nature suits mid- to high-handicap golfers looking to enjoy a relaxed round, while still challenging decision-making and shot execution.

Course conditions are not good. Greens slow and bushy. Fairways longer than should be. Layout is good. Gas carts. No GPS. Nice yardage book. Was not crowded when I played so pace of play was excellent.

Not sure if this place is under new management and haven't gotten things together yet but this course is absolutely horrible. The cart paths are in desperate need of repairs, the fairways in a lot of places actually have weeds growing in several places, not very well maintained. Many of the bunkers are getting over grown with grass and weeds, absolutely no water coolers anywhere on the course, many of the putting greens have bare spots, etc. The club house was nice though and they do have brand new golf carts. Paying the fees that they want I would expect a better glof experience. Probably won't go back. However I will say that the employees that work there were extremely polite and very helpful, they were the bright spot of my day.

Booked over golf now, so price was 35.00 this course is in terrible shape. The greens are basically gone don’t know what happened to them. Have never seen a course where all the greens have been lost. This should be disclosed to anyone who is planning on playing before they pay. No way to putt on them and play real golf.
