Course Overview
Located in the rolling hills of Fallbrook, California, The Golf Club of California presents an 18-hole public course that balances natural beauty with strategic challenge. The layout weaves through a landscape shaped by elevation changes, mature oak trees, and pockets of native flora, creating a playing field that demands thoughtful shot placement. Fairways run along gentle slopes and dips, while greens display subtle contours that invite precision putting without overwhelming lower handicappers.
The course plays to a par that rewards strategic decision-making across a variety of hole distances and designs. Golfers will find a mix of elevated tees and well-placed bunkers guarding many greens, making it essential to read the terrain and judge club selection carefully. The interplay of wind and elevation adds further nuance, keeping each round engaging for golfers seeking both recreational enjoyment and a test of skill.
Maintenance stands out as a positive feature, with well-manicured fairways and generally smooth greens. Seasonal shifts bring color changes, especially in autumn, when the oak leaves enrich the atmosphere with warm hues. Golfers have mentioned the quality of the practice facilities, including a full driving range and dedicated areas for putting and chipping, which support preparation and improvement.
The club’s amenities extend beyond the course itself. A welcoming clubhouse offers food and beverage options, providing a pleasant setting to relax before or after rounds. Service at the club is praised for its friendliness and professionalism, contributing to an approachable and inviting environment.
While some travelers note ongoing improvements in bunker maintenance, the overall condition remains well suited for all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced golfers. Walking the course is feasible, though players may appreciate a cart given the moderate elevation changes over the 18 holes. The layout’s varied terrain encourages a deliberate pace, rewarding players who stay focused on strategy and shot execution.
For those planning a visit, early fall through late spring generally offers the best weather conditions to enjoy this course with minimal heat and occasional coastal breezes. The Golf Club of California offers an accessible yet engaging golf experience that highlights the natural landscape and provides a welcoming atmosphere for players from the region and beyond.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the golf course for the price of the green fee. Routing and design are very good with elevation change and a variety of golf holes. I would recommend this golf course. Staff (Golf Shop, Starter, Range Attendant, and others) were very friendly and professional. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is well run, an excellent combination. I would certainly play here again. **Photo is the 7th hole. (Par 3)**

Played course 12 Sept 2024. The amenities of this course is unmatched. From the locker room to the practice facilities. Course has a full range and good practice area for chipping and putting. The course also has a great military discount rate. The starter outside was friendly and very helpful. As for the course it's in pretty good shape. The tee boxes are cut nicely, fairways cut nice although some dry spot, the bunkers could be a lot better with actual sand added to some of them, the greens are in great shape with the exception of maybe 1. The course is clearly working on that green to bring it back to life. This course is challenging with a great layout. You won't be disappointed in the quality nor the service. Highly recommend to all golfers. They also have a cart girl and drinking water throughout the course which is a PLUS!!!

Today's golf trip was really great! Every course here was enjoyable because the environment was filled with nature and varied per course, and the fairway and the green are of great quality. The oak tree leaves were changing into their fall colors, and thus, it felt like we were having a picturesque fall picnic. The eucalyptus flowers were also very beautiful.

THE OWNER NEVER TOOK ACTION TO FIX A SERIOUS ISSUE! The last response from him was merely a fake response to make it seem as though his team is working on making things right but I have not heard one thing. THEY NEVER REACHED OUT. Please read my review and please please think twice about going here and reporting an issue to management. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Our experience with the Golf Club of California was deeply frustrating and disappointing. After an item of significant sentimental and monetary value—my fiancé’s engagement ring—was left behind, we immediately contacted the club and specifically requested that it be mailed back via UPS or FedEx, offering to cover all shipping costs. Despite this clear request, the staff chose to send it in a standard envelope, resulting in the ring being stolen - all thanks to Brian Sangster. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of urgency or support from their team. Over the course of several weeks, we followed up multiple times, only to be met with indifference and minimal action. There was no accountability, no meaningful effort to rectify the situation, and no reimbursement. This club is mediocre at best—unreliable, careless, and unprofessional. Their negligence and poor communication turned an easily avoidable issue into a deeply upsetting experience. Save your money and go elsewhere. There are far better venues that understand how to treat customers with basic respect and responsibility.

I recently had the pleasure of playing a round at this golf course, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The cafe/ restaurant has delicious foods and drinks, and course itself is impeccably maintained, with lush fairways, pristine greens, and breathtaking scenery at every turn. What really stood out to me was the attention to detail and the passion for golf that is evident in every aspect of the golf course. It's clear that they truly care about providing an excellent golfing experience. Highly recommend this place whether you visit with family or friends!
