La Paloma Country Club
La Paloma Country Club offers an 18-hole championship course set against the striking Sonoran Desert and Catalina Mountains backdrop. This semi-private layout balances desert strategy with approachable playability, making it a rewarding round for golfers across all skill levels.
Course Overview
La Paloma Country Club presents an inviting blend of Sonoran Desert charm and meticulous course design, offering an 18-hole championship layout that challenges and rewards players of all levels. Situated on the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, this semi-private course unfolds across gently rolling desert terrain, where natural arroyos and towering saguaros frame each hole. The landscape, defined by rich desert flora and breathtaking views of the Catalina Mountains, adds a distinctive character that influences both strategy and shot selection throughout the round.
The course layout demands thoughtful navigation, balancing risk and reward with well-placed bunkers and undulating greens that test precision on approach. Fairways are crafted to accommodate a variety of playing styles, making La Paloma accessible for mid to high handicappers while still offering subtle complexities that keep lower handicaps engaged. The desert air and occasional breeze play a subtle role in club selection, adding an atmospheric dimension that keeps golfers attentive from the first tee through the closing putt.
A hallmark of La Paloma is its integration with the desert environment. Native vegetation is preserved carefully around the fairways and greens, creating natural hazards rather than artificial impediments. Water features appear sparingly but with significant impact, highlighting select holes without overwhelming the course’s arid identity.
Beyond the course itself, amenities support a full golfing experience. The clubhouse offers a comfortable base with dining options and a pro shop catering to both casual players and dedicated golfers. Practice facilities include a driving range and putting greens, allowing players to warm up and hone their skills before heading out.
Visitors or members who choose to walk will find well-maintained cart paths and terrain that is manageable on foot, with firm footing typical of desert courses. Timing a round here is ideal during the cooler months when the sun accentuates the colors of the desert without overwhelming heat.
La Paloma Country Club’s carefully crafted layout and desert setting combine to create a golf experience that is both engaging and respectful of its natural surroundings. It stands as a destination for those seeking to enjoy golf framed by Arizona’s unique landscape and climate.
Course Highlights
La Paloma stands out for its desert-style layout that incorporates native Sonoran features such as saguaros, desert wildflowers, and natural washes. The course’s undulating greens and carefully positioned bunkers demand precision and strategic choice, while select holes offer panoramic Catalina Mountain views that elevate the golfing experience. Complementing the natural setting, the clubhouse provides modern amenities and practice facilities that cater to both casual rounds and tournament play.

I stayed here for a work conference and was completely impressed—what a beautiful resort! It was the perfect venue for a week-long stay, blending comfort, service, and scenery in all the right ways. The property features a full bar and restaurant, along with a charming coffee shop that offers hot meals, grab-and-go options, and some fun gifts and souvenirs. The grounds were impeccably manicured, and every staff member I encountered was kind, helpful, and welcoming. The lobby itself offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains—truly a great place to pause and take it all in. There are multiple pools to enjoy, including one with a peaceful waterfall. The resort is nestled within a country club/HOA setting, so everything feels private and well-maintained. Though the rooms aren’t located in the main building, the walk was pleasant, and if you prefer, they’ll happily give you a ride to and from your room. My room had a lovely view, and it was a relaxing place to unwind after conference sessions. The bar staff was particularly friendly and even mentioned how much they enjoyed our group being there. Additional amenities included a gym, tennis courts, and a desert garden to explore. There’s also a beautiful golf course for those looking to play a round. The on-site restaurant served absolutely delicious food—including a plentiful and tasty breakfast buffet. One unexpected bonus: they offer a shuttle to a nearby outdoor mall with some great shops—perfect for a quick break or souvenir run. I highly recommend this resort for conferences, family gatherings, or even a relaxing overnight stay. It really offers a little bit of everything in a serene desert setting.

Pristine. Peaceful. Bliss. My kiddo is on his third season of PGA junior golf and we had the opportunity to play this one of a kind golf course. Although there’s still much to improve on his swing, this is one of his favorite places to play golf. The backdrop seems like a masterpiece stroked by God himself.. A true one of the kind Tucson Jewel.

Absolutely beautiful resort. The staff is always friendly and nice. I’ve been staying here since I was very young with my parents. Now, finally married in my hometown got to stay here for my honeymoon night. Full circle moment in such a beautiful area. Manager gave us a free cabana For the day for my family and infant nieces and nephew. Kuel has been there for so long and he is so kind to us. He is probably the best employee. Every time I stay here it feels like home.

I played 18 on the Canyon/Hills courses on 4/11 as a guest staying at the Westin. Course was in great shape. Everything was green, and tee boxes and greens were smooth. Greens were hard to read or get a feel for though as a first time player. I teed off at 7:30am and they got much faster after the turn, once the sun had dried them out. Canyon was tough and has tight landing spots and difficult angles on several holes off the tee and on approaches. I found lots of extra balls in the scrub on Canyon #2. Staff was friendly and courteous. Course wasn't crowded and pace of play seemed to be managed well.

I am a freelance photographer and I had the pleasure of photographing a vacation rental home in the area. The views the golf course has to offer with the Catalina Mountains in the background. Uff. Check out some of these drone shots. It's starting to feel like snowbird season!

For the price of three hundred dollars after taxes, it's not worth it at all.The fairways are dry and hard. The greens are in bad shape, also Rocky, horrible shape. You are better off playing at a public course. In Tucson,
