Course Overview
Located at 6601 E Speedway Blvd in Tucson, Arizona, Dorado Golf Course offers a distinctive executive-style experience that blends accessibility with engaging play. This 18-hole course caters primarily to golfers seeking a quicker round without sacrificing the essential elements of a well-thought-out layout. The course features a mixture of primarily par-3 holes, complemented by several driveable par-4s that encourage strategic decision-making and reward precision over power.
The course’s setting embraces the arid Sonoran Desert environment with wide fairways bordered by native desert flora and dry wash hazards. Water features appear selectively, creating pockets of challenge that require careful club selection and course management. The terrain is relatively flat, allowing for an approachable walk, though players should come prepared with shoes suited for warm, dry conditions and the occasional sandy patch.
Dorado’s layout is friendly to players of various skill levels, providing a forgiving yet stimulating test for beginners and intermediate golfers. The pace of play can vary, with the shorter holes offering quick scoring opportunities but requiring attention to green conditions and geography. Maintaining good rhythm is essential, as some holes demand precise shot placement to avoid the desert’s natural obstacles.
The course amenities include a small chipping green and two putting greens for pre-round warmups; while there is no driving range, these facilities support focused practice sessions. The modern clubhouse and pro shop offer a welcoming check-in experience, supported by attentive staff who have been noted for accommodating out-of-town visitors with professionalism.
Dorado’s charm lies in its combination of challenge and accessibility within a desert setting that does not overwhelm. It offers a refreshing alternative for golfers who want a well-maintained course with a casual yet purposeful vibe. Great executive 18 hole course in quality condition off the beaten path here in East Tucson. No driving range, but a small chipping green and 2 small putting greens. Course in really good condition, mostly par 3's and some par 4's. Fun track with some difficulty level involved. Water on certain holes and dry wash out-of-bounds areas making decisions on club selections required. Proshop staff went above and beyond to make an out-of-towner feel at home there. I collect metal ball markers and they had just ran out of them to sell. She had them on certain golf gloves for sale and she took one from the glove knowing she would be getting more stock in soon. Five stars for the accomdation! Pleasant and inviting experience, would definitely come and play again when traveling in the East Tucson area!!

Good price, we love this course its fun and forgiving. I've been playing it for a long time and it has improved massively. It's turning into a nice country club like vibe. Much better shape than 10 years ago. I like the employees and glad to see the regulars. Every now and then, though, there’s a shift in the atmosphere depending on who's working. The rules are stricter, and interactions come off as less friendly than usual—particularly around cart return times. Return time is 6:30. We got 3 calls by then. And were hounded when we got it in by 6:32, we were told that the carts shut off completely at a certain time and can’t be moved after that—but we’ve often seen them being used past that point without issue. It feels very excessive compared to the otherwise chill and welcoming experience this course is known for. Multiple times this has been a talking point among me and whatever Randoms I get paired with.

I played a round here a few week ago, and the facility exceeded my expectations. To be clear, it is an executive course, with a number of shorter, drive-able par 4s (meaning pace of play will be a little slower, waiting for the greens to clear). With that said, we appreciated the course's layout, it was in fairly good condition, and the clubhouse/check-in area was modern and excellent! A very nice experience overall.

Disappointed Regular — Customer Service Has Gone Downhill I’ve played at Dorado dozens of times over the years, but unfortunately, the experience has really gone downhill—especially when it comes to customer service. Every time I try to book through their third-party system, there’s some sort of issue. Whether it's a tee time not being honored or pricing discrepancies, it’s consistently unreliable. What makes it worse is how the staff in the clubhouse handles it. Rather than being helpful or even remotely understanding, they’re dismissive and full of attitude. It’s frustrating when you're a paying customer who supports the course regularly, only to be treated like an inconvenience. Dorado has potential—it’s a convenient course and I’ve enjoyed playing it in the past—but the lack of professionalism and poor service lately are making me seriously reconsider continuing to play here. A little effort toward treating regulars with respect and fixing the booking system would go a long way.
