Arizona National Golf Club

Tucson, Arizona, USASouthern Arizona

Arizona National Golf Club presents an 18-hole desert course marked by rugged terrain and sweeping mountain views. Its combination of challenging fast greens and generous fairways provides a distinctive Southwestern golf experience suited for a wide range of players.

Course Overview

Arizona National Golf Club offers an 18-hole desert course that challenges and rewards players across all skill levels. Located just northeast of Tucson, Arizona, this public layout weaves through an arid landscape dotted with native cacti and rugged terrain, providing a distinct Southwestern character that defines the playing experience. The course’s broad fairways and strategically placed bunkers guard greens that demand precision, especially as they run fast and true.

The routing takes golfers across varied elevation changes, allowing natural washes and rock formations to influence shot choices. Several holes frame views of the surrounding Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains, offering striking panoramas that shift with the desert light throughout the day. Despite its natural toughness, Arizona National balances approachability with challenge, making it suitable whether you’re seeking to hone skills or test your shot-making under desert conditions.

Maintained to a high standard, the course’s conditioning stands out, particularly on the putting surfaces and tee boxes. Water is scarce, so staying hydrated is crucial, especially during the warmer months. While walking is technically allowed, the layout’s length and desert environment make riding carts a practical choice. The staff contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, noted for attentive course marshals and helpful bag drop attendants who assist in smoothing your round.

Amenities include a well-equipped pro shop and a clubhouse restaurant where you can fuel up before or after your round. The course’s setting encourages observation of local wildlife, adding quiet moments alongside competitive golf. It’s advisable to bring sun protection and ample water, given the desert heat and limited shade.

Arizona National is known both for its engaging layout and the raw natural beauty that surrounds each hole. Players find that the combination of desert challenge and mountain views elevates a round beyond routine golf. Whether you come for personal improvement or to enjoy a memorable golf outing in the Tucson area, the course offers a rewarding experience tailored to desert golf enthusiasts.

Course Highlights

Arizona National features a desert-style layout marked by tight greens, cactus-lined fairways, and natural washes. Elevated tee boxes provide panoramic mountain views, while well-maintained fast greens challenge putting accuracy. The course’s location offers a true taste of Southwestern golf with abundant local wildlife sightings and a layout that balances playability and strategic demands.

Tough course and really fun to play! Quite a bit of brown mud patches though which made it more difficult

This course was a challenge in the best way. Tight target greens surrounded by beautiful cactus hillsides. By the 6th hole you could see all of Tucson. I will definitely be bringing my clubs from Washington next year!

It's simply an amazing course. It was one of the best I have ever played. And the best part is it was not very busy and was not that expensive for what you get. I did play in the afternoon, which was much cheaper, but wow, what a course. The tees, greens, and fairways were amazing. Everything was impeccably manacured. Just under 4 hours to play, which is unheard of at most courses like this. Greens were lightning quick. Very, very challenging. Biggest challenge is the location, which why, that makes the course and what makes it unique and spectacular. It is a haul to get there even from the south part of Tucson. Will definitely play right away when back in town

Course 5/10, Staff 1/10 No carts at 930am, group that teed off at 936am on 18 tee at 220pm, called and asked for a Marshall and was told “we have nobody” went in to talk to “supervisor” Chase who was sitting on the couch watching TV and said what a horrible experience for $65 course and all I got was mute. Sewailo $40 same time and a way better experience all day. Skip this track

V good fast greens, bunkers OK, fairways mediocre. Fun layout with good views and lots of critters. Good value for the modest green fee. Not a good course to walk and no early breakfast or coffee.

I have had the chance to play out here on a few occasions and have really enjoyed myself. The course is very well maintained, with desert landscapes and challenging holes. The staff were friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for a great day of golf. They really make each trip a little special. Great guys at the bag drop, and marshals out on the course with good recommendations to keep your ball safe! I have played when the greens have been aerated and when greens were in perfect condition. The layout of the course offers a good mix of difficulty and playability. There are some really challenging ones out there. The views of the surrounding mountains and natural scenery are great! The views are probably the best part. Lots of wildlife to enjoy was well. Rates have always been really reasonable. The clubhouse facilities are top-notch, with a well-stocked pro shop and a real nice restaurant. We usually get a burrito before we start our round and then a sandwich after we get done. Be sure to bring a lot of water and hydration with you. It gets hot and sometimes it can be a long time between water stations or the drink cart.

Just played on July 2nd. This course is RUINED until its time to overseed. Booked a Hot Deal & thought I was getting a good deal. There were only about 6 other people on the course all day (FOR A REASON)! Looks like overwatering caused fungal damage. Fairways were deep punched (some spots so much it looked like course wide Javelina damage). Greens were aerated but not top dressed. Not a single staff member said a word about the current condition of the course when we checked in nor was it mentioned on their website (shame on you)! Do not bother with even the cheap deals until after the overseed. So disappointed!
