Kiskiack Golf Club

Williamsburg, Virginia, USASoutheastern Virginia

Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg offers an 18-hole layout defined by natural elevation shifts and fast, true greens. Combining a challenging yet accessible course design with well-maintained fairways and a welcoming clubhouse, it’s a solid choice for golfers seeking a diverse round in Southeastern Virginia.

Course Overview

Perched within the rolling landscape of Williamsburg, Virginia, Kiskiack Golf Club presents an 18-hole challenge that blends elevation changes with well-crafted fairways and true-running greens. This semi-private course offers players a well-maintained, visually compelling setting marked by undulating terrain and strategic design that rewards thoughtful shot-making. Elevation shifts throughout the course can make yardage feel longer than the scorecard suggests, demanding both accuracy and patience from golfers seeking to post good scores.

Kiskiack’s layout balances challenge and accessibility. While the back tees test even low handicappers, the forward and combo tees provide a fair yet engaging experience for mid- and higher-handicap players. The fairways are lined with mature trees and punctuated by bunkers that require precision, especially around the greens where elevation changes add complexity to approach shots and putting. Players will find the greens run quick, offering a true roll that highlights both course conditioning and design intent.

The setting is enhanced by a climate that maintains lush fairways and healthy foliage throughout much of the year, with ample shade offering respite during summer rounds. The clubhouse provides a friendly atmosphere, where staff are noted for their welcoming and helpful service. Amenities include a well-stocked pro shop and a snack bar with a casual menu, perfect for recharging after the round.

Pace of play has been highlighted by many visitors as reasonable, though groups may encounter occasional slowdowns during peak times. Walkers will appreciate the manageable terrain, though solid footwear is advisable due to some elevation and uneven footing. Golf carts are available upon request, but walking is encouraged to better experience the natural flow of the course.

For players planning a visit, early morning tee times can offer cooler conditions and a serene atmosphere. The combination of rolling fairways, elevation changes, and quick greens ensures a round at Kiskiack Golf Club presents both a test of skill and an opportunity to enjoy Virginia’s golf landscape in a relaxed setting.

Course Highlights

Kiskiack Golf Club’s layout leverages natural elevation to challenge players with long uphill fairways and downhill approaches. The quick, true greens demand precision putting, while mature trees and well-positioned bunkers shape strategy on every hole. The course’s gentle hills create an engaging rhythm that rewards shot placement and thoughtful club selection.

Course is in wonderful shape. The greens run true and are quick. Very picturesque with undulating fairways and elevated greens. Pace of play was right on at 4:35. Kiskiack feels longer than the yardage on the scorecard due to the elevation changes. Highly recommend playing this course.

The review has goods and bads. The course is in fantastic condition. The cheeseburgers were awesome. The staff told me that our reservation was for 3pm. I wrote down 3pm. When we arrived they told us 3:18pm. When I protested they said well someone put 3:18pm and they couldn't help us. It was like we are so sorry but instead tough shit. Then they allowed the group in front of us to play slow as hell. Not one ranger came out to tell the group to speed up. We had to run the last hole at sunset. I was beyond angry. But as far as course conditions go its without a doubt a great gem. The staff was a 1 or 2 star in my opinion.

Disappointed by Range Marshal's Unprofessional Attitude I played at Kiskiack today and was very disappointed by the behavior of the range marshal. While I usually enjoy my time here, the marshal’s attitude was unnecessarily rude and confrontational from the start. Rather than offering guidance or addressing any concerns in a respectful way, he approached with an aggressive tone that soured our entire Father's day experience. He was very upset that I was letting my son practice some shots while the 4 of us were playing. My attempt at trying to have discourse about what was going on was immediately met with threats to kick us off the course. He wanted us to speed up pace of play and blaming me for letting my son hit some balls while we played the hole. My son's presence had no impact to our pace of play and he only hit a few balls a couple of times that day. I tried to explain everything to him but he kept saying he was going to kick us off the course even when I tried to tell him my son wouldn't play anymore. It wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever because we still had to wait on the next tee box for the group in front of us. In the end, we did split up our family group but we were forced to wait even longer due to the group in front of us. So in the end, we slowed pace even further than it already was. Golf is meant to be a game of respect and etiquette—something I expect from staff as well as players. Unfortunately, the marshal's behavior was far from professional and did not reflect the values or atmosphere that most golfers appreciate. I hope management addresses this issue seriously. A more courteous and constructive approach from course staff would go a long way in maintaining the welcoming environment this course is otherwise known for. I normally have a great experience at this course and I really enjoy the layout. However, this experience really overshadowed our entire Father's day celebration and ruined the experience for the whole group. There are plenty of great courses in the area that treat you respectfully. I doubt I'll be back. The only positive experience my group had was with the starter, he was very great and sent us on the course with smiles and laughs.

Our High School tournament was hosted there on 8/22. Great course. Plenty of shade and a great course! The staff in the pro shop were friendly and the snack bar attendant was sweet as can be!
