Rock Creek Country Club - Portland, OR

Portland, Oregon, USAPacific Northwest

Rock Creek Country Club in Portland presents a thoughtful 18-hole parkland course blending strategic design with natural Pacific Northwest beauty. Known for its approachable yet challenging layout and excellent year-round conditions, it offers an engaging golf experience balanced by attentive service and inviting clubhouse amenities.

Course Overview

Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon, offers a meticulously maintained 18-hole layout that both challenges and welcomes players across all skill levels. This private course is framed by mature trees and gentle elevation changes, crafting a parkland-style experience distinct from the coastal and mountain courses that define the Pacific Northwest. Its sprawling fairways are flanked by well-positioned bunkers and water hazards that demand precise shot-making without punishing overly aggressive play.

The course’s design integrates natural drainage enhancements, reflecting a commitment to year-round playability even during the region’s wetter months. While summer rounds reveal the course in prime condition with firm, fast greens, winter play calls for strategic routing, with many preferring to focus on the front nine where turf conditions remain most reliable. Players will find a range of par-3s that test their club selection and short-game touch, coupled with longer holes that reward careful course management and strategic drives.

Rock Creek’s setting offers more than just golf; its tree-lined fairways create moments of seclusion and focus, while occasional glimpses of the surrounding Portland landscape provide a calm backdrop. The atmosphere is further enhanced by a dedicated staff providing attentive service, ensuring that every visit feels personalized.

Amenities extend beyond the course with a welcoming clubhouse featuring a Green Bar and Grill where players can relax post-round. Its vibrant social environment is a hallmark, strengthened by enthusiastic staff known for their warmth and competence.

For those planning a visit, walking is encouraged and easily manageable with recommended footwear due to gentle terrain. Golf carts are available if preferred. The club requires member invitation for play, maintaining an exclusive yet inviting environment. Whether seeking a competitive round or a leisurely walk through verdant fairways, Rock Creek Country Club consistently delivers a refined Portland golf experience grounded in tradition and care.

Course Highlights

Mature tree-lined fairways define the parkland layout, complemented by a series of challenging short par-3 holes and strategically placed bunkers that test accuracy. Recent drainage improvements enhance playability, particularly in rainy seasons. The Green Bar and Grill serves as a social hub with a relaxed ambiance after rounds. The course’s balance of challenge and accessibility creates an environment well-suited to both competitive players and those seeking a scenic day of golf.

Rock Creek Country Club is a fantastic well-manicured track with true greens, beautiful treescapes and creative fun holes, especially the par 3s. The friendly staff was extremely accommodating, and the food was quite good. Looking forward to playing there again someday!

They use gas leaf blowers on the course at 6 am on Saturday and other days of the week. Noise law says 7 am earliest. 6 am on a Saturday is crazy please wait til 7 am at least

I have been a member of Rock Creek for 8 years. I find that the course in the summer is always in good shape and always enjoy the challenge. The winter on the back nine is not as good and will play two front nines if possible. The staff is very professional both in the pro shop and front office. I really like the updates in the draining improvements. Lets just say I feel like I have met some of the nicest golfers and have met so many in the years playing at Rock Creek. Thanks for always making me feel welcome.

I was visiting a friend that lives in Portland, and she brought me here saying it’s one of her go-to spots and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The scenery was gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and were so upbeat and positive. I will definitely be going back there the next time I take a trip back out here!

Thank you Rock Creek. The River West Church Men's Group had a great time Wednesday May 17, playing golf at Rock Creek thanks to the  staff of Tom, Craig, Emily, Brock and Chantel serving them drinks and food in the Green Bar and Grill.

My mom is a member here so I’ve had the pleasure of playing here several times and each visit to this course and club has been so fun and pleasent. The club is always clean and the staff knows the members well, so it really feels like a true club experience. The course is tough for me, a casual golfer, but the gorgeous views and the fact it’s a private club make me less nervous to play here. I always love coming to rock creek!

First Time Playing With A Golf Simulator At Rock Creek: My friend Adam I didn't want to play in the rain so the simulator was a great choice to do. We played Pepple Beach and it was a challenge. I either hit in the water or sand. The simulator is on the second floor of the restaurant. It would be a fun place to have a team building events and board meetings. With the Green Bar restaurant located on the first floor we ordered food from Chantel. We both had a meatball sandwich. My friend and I will definitely do this again. #Rock Creek Country Club #Riverwest church ==================================================== Post from 10 years ago: With golf season coming up I wanted to give Rock Creek some kudos. I played there last fall with some friends for the first time. We had a great time. The course is will maintained and the staff in the golf shop treated us great. I almost brook 100. I also attended a chamber function in the club house and it had plenty of room for the 100 members who attended. I also will attending another event this Feb. their too. Mike, the Membership and Events manager, is very accommodating, when it comes to holding an event there. Dean P:S Ask Mike about the new barbecue pit.
