Eastmoreland Golf Course

Portland, Oregon, USAPacific Northwest

Eastmoreland Golf Course in Portland offers a classic 18-hole public parkland experience defined by tree-lined fairways, true rolling greens, and a blend of approachable and strategic holes. Its walkable layout and inviting clubhouse make it a favored urban golfing destination.

Course Overview

Eastmoreland Golf Course presents a classic urban golf experience in Portland, Oregon, blending accessible design with natural challenges across its 18-hole layout. This public course offers a traditional parkland style, defined by narrow, tree-lined fairways that demand precision from tee to green. Mature Douglas firs and towering deciduous trees shape the playing corridors, creating a demanding test especially for those prone to errant slices or hooks. With a par of 71 and total yardage nearing 6,300 yards from the back tees, Eastmoreland balances challenge and enjoyment for a wide range of golfers.

The course’s character hinges on its quiet but persistent presence within the city. The front nine opens with relatively straightforward holes that invite players to find rhythm, while the back nine introduces more complexity, including several water hazards and tighter landing areas that sharpen strategic decisions. Bunkers guard the greens selectively, though some traps show signs of wear, adding subtle unpredictability underfoot. Greens typically roll true and maintain good speed, rewarding carefully read putts.

Eastmoreland stands out for its walkability given its compact layout, with gently undulating terrain that allows for an engaging stroll. Players should be prepared for occasional soggy conditions in spring and summer, especially near water features and low-lying sections. Footwear with reliable traction is recommended, particularly in wetter months.

The course is accompanied by solid amenities including a well-regarded clubhouse restaurant, where after-round refreshments flow alongside views of the course stretching out beyond the patio. Friendly staff contribute to an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat visits. The surrounding neighborhood quietly hums with urban life, lending the styling a distinct sense of place without overwhelming the natural setting.

For golfers seeking a public course offering a thoughtful test with ample greenery and varied shot-making opportunities, Eastmoreland stands as a dependable choice within Portland's golf scene. Its mixture of approachable holes and tighter, tactical stretches make it suitable for both intermediate players seeking improvement and seasoned golfers sharpening their accuracy under trees and near water. Whether escaping city noise or sharpening skills, Eastmoreland provides a rewarding, honest golf outing.

Course Highlights

Eastmoreland’s signature strength lies in its mature tree corridors framing each hole, creating a parkland layout that challenges accuracy over distance. The back nine intensifies difficulty with narrow fairways, several water hazards, and well-placed bunkers guarding the greens. The course’s urban setting provides a quiet retreat amid city life, complemented by a clubhouse with food and beverage service that enhances the overall experience.

On June 13th, My husband and I were about 5 minutes late for our 1:10 t-time. I thought our t-time was 1:20. The marshall yelled at us and lectured me on how rude it was to be late. The twosome we 1were to golf with was just teeing off. I gave our name and he couldn't find it and I tried to give him our receipt and refused it. Then he found our name and told us to get onto the tee or he will cancel our golf. He told us to catch up with the players ahead of us. About 2 holes later he comes and told us that he will hold up the twosome so we can catch up. We were on the green and the twsome were just teeing off. The Marshall's behavior was unacceptable to me. He was rude and disrespectful. I have been golfing at Eastmoreland since 1987. I know and understand course rules and courtesy. I have never showed up late and I have called if I know that I may be late because of circumstances. To top it off, the clubhouse didn't give me back my $2.00 in change so my golf for nine holes was $90.00. I will not ever golf at your course again. You have my name and email address in your data base if you want to email me a response or we can tal by phone. I am a long time customer. Thank you

My favorite city owned golf course. A good mix of holes and challenges, lots of water hazards on the back nine, fairly well maintained (except for the sand traps), and the course staff is always nice. The restaurant is standard but they pour stiff drinks and have a great patio to sit at after a round. The grounds can get pretty soggy during the spring season so be prepared for some mud through April.

my partner and i wanted to get out from the house for a change. I recommended she visit a park while I resume my golf practice that I had paused over a month back. as luck would have it, the course features a driving range. we only have one vehicle, so she drove a short distance to a park and i used golf clubs to drive on the course's range. a fellow clubber on the top deck of the swinging range hit their ball northbound, right into mine, mid-air. at first, i was upset that they had interfered with my practice. the gentleman in the neighboring bay exclaimed that it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. i was feeling lucky, so i hit the remaining practice shots and then walked to the wrong park to resume the time i was spending with my partner that i had paused only an hour or so back.

Came here while visiting from Colorado. I really enjoyed this course. The trees make the course difficult but doable. Greens were in perfect condition, tee boxes could use some love. Tons of geese so there is a lot of poop! Nice long par 5’s. Nice staff and facilities. Friendly creatures on the course too! Would go back!

Back 9 is a must try. Absolutely gorgeous. Only down side is the railway and homeless.

One of the best looking courses in the area. The back 9 were definitely more challenging. Lots of trees and bushes so if you’re a slicer bring extra balls.

A really solid all-around course. Pretty much exactly what you picture when you think of a municipal course. Good value, solid course upkeep, and a wide range of pace of play. I chalk it up to its relatively long & narrow tree lined tee shots (its defining feature). I wouldn’t rate it as high as Heron Lakes or Wildwood, but a very solid alternative.
