Baytowne Golf Club

Miramar Beach, Florida, USANorthwest Florida

Baytowne Golf Club features an accessible 18-hole parkland course set within Florida’s scenic Sandestin resort. Its thoughtful layout blends strategic challenges with coastal scenery, making it ideal for a broad range of golfers seeking a balanced round in the heart of Northwest Florida.

Course Overview

Baytowne Golf Club offers an 18-hole layout that challenges players within an accessible resort golf setting in Miramar Beach, Florida. Designed to engage a broad spectrum of golfers, the course combines strategic shot-making with a layout that rewards thoughtful club selection and course management. Though part of the Sandestin resort community, Baytowne stands on its own with a classic, parkland-style design that incorporates gently rolling fairways framed by mature trees and natural marshland areas. The setting captures the relaxed coastal ambiance of Northwest Florida, with frequent sea breezes adding a subtle test to each round.

Fairways are generous but demand accuracy around well-positioned bunkers and protected greens that call for precision on approach shots. Baytowne’s greens run true despite occasional seasonal maintenance, and the undulations add a layer of complexity without overwhelming mid- or higher-handicap golfers. The course plays smoothly, balancing rewarding scoring opportunities with enough challenges to engage lower handicaps seeking to sharpen their game.

The front nine meanders through tree-lined corridors and water features, while the back nine introduces marsh views and subtle elevation changes that enhance visual interest and strategic decisions off the tee. A variety of tee boxes ensure players can tailor the course length to their skill and ambition, making it approachable for all levels.

Amenities at Baytowne reflect its resort environment, including a full-service clubhouse with dining options and a pro shop equipped for easy access to tournament setups and lessons. Golf cart availability is standard, and walking is permitted though the course terrain and Florida heat suggest planning accordingly.

While recent reviews mention ongoing turf maintenance and course conditioning fluctuations, the layout’s integrity remains intact, rewarding those who approach it with a focus on shot placement and course management. Baytowne Golf Club offers a balanced Florida golf experience with enough nuances to hold interest beyond a first visit, making it a worthwhile stop for resort guests and local players alike.

Course Highlights

A course that skillfully integrates marshland and mature coastal forest, Baytowne challenges players with strategic bunkering and undulating greens. The layout emphasizes shot placement over sheer length, particularly on the back nine, where wind and water come into play. Its thoughtful use of natural Florida topography provides a calm, engaging environment amid a vibrant resort backdrop.

I have played this Course over the years and it's not as nice as the Raven but I wanted to get out early. The Course was in fair sharp for the winter conditions. The greens were not cut close which caused them to be slow. The price was $80.00 with my stay at Sandestin resorts. The layout is challenging but don't come thinking you will have a private Golf experience.

I’ve played Baytowne over the years and have enjoyed golf at this course. This past Thursday however, I was very disappointed. After checking in for my tee time, I hit a a few balls and headed to meet the starter to give home my receipt. He said you’re good to go except you’ll need to jump in another cart with the other player. I was confused, I never had to do that before there if I wanted my own cart. The starter was a crotchety old man probably in his 80s. I told him I needed my own cart today because I was working and other private matters I needed to tend to during my round. He said I’d either need to get in the other cart or I’d have to pay a cart fee. I told him I’ll pay the cart fee. The fee ended up being $40. I was not happy about that. We proceed to play the course and every green was lumpy, over grown and the pin cups hadn’t been moved in weeks. When I returned after my round I complained. The Manager, Kirk, explained to me that the are being need to grow higher and they can’t cut them low. That’s why you paid a discounted rate. I wasn’t told before I played that there was maintenance being done in the greens. But that wasn’t an excuse for not moving the cups. Well Kirk made things right. He refunded my cart fee and booked me a tee time on their much better course The Raven. I appreciate Kirk making things right. You guys still need to move those cups. I hope next year things will be in better shape.

Great course. Much better layout than the Raven. Fairways are perfect. Greens are great. Bunkers could use a refresh. Cart path could use some repairs. But overall would definitely play this course again. Got on for $75 so price wasn't bad for the course.

Have to say these were some of the worst greens I have played in some time. Course layout is great, but these greens need some serious TLC. Cost of the round far exceeds the expected conditions of a course for this price.

Absolutely not worth $120. Greens are atrocious and they are “fighting 2 different grass types” just spend more and go to raven or links. Course needs to be renovated

WOW! SOOOOOOO DISSAPPOINTED!!!!!!! My group of 14 traveled to play this course. It would have been better if we were not able to play due to Hurricane Helene just passing through. We were charge $91+ dollars at a "DISCOUNTED PRICE" down from $120+. However, unlike another reviewer, we were told it was discounted because they had aerated the greens but the club pro said it was for another reason. The greens (ALL) were atrocious, the picture I have included is the BEST of the greens by far! Our carts ran out of steam as we had to put them in reverse then drive OR power them off then back on to get them going again. I finally called the pro-shop only for them to tell us to do what we were already doing but I refused to do that and had them bring out another cart for me. We were big tippers as that is what we do because we understand that the employees are not always the problem but rather the club management staff. It was a very hot day and I consumed all four bottles of water that I brought with me. For a luxury resort, I expected a courtesy bottle of water and at the very least the option to purchase a bottle but was directed back to the pro shop to purchase a bottle. The only way I would play this course again would be for the green fees were to be $50 in the continue they were in or full price if they were in GREAT condition because the layout is nice and balance and the tee time spacing is good. The bright side: the starter was a really nice guy and so were the cart keepers for lack of a better term.

Terrible condition on greens and fairways full of weeds. Not worth the $

I’ve played several resort golf courses and expect to pay a premium because of their location, time of year etc. But I also expect above average conditions. I agree with what others wrote, Baytowne is a nice layout but the condition of both the fairways and the greens is certainly not worth what they charge. Save your money and spend the day on the beautiful beach.

I visit this area every year a this course has been horrible for the last 2 years, it’s a shame they continue to take your money. The owner obviously does not care.

Dropped over $150 to play golf. The Greens were absolutely atrocious and they wouldn't even give discounts. You guys are welcome to message me and make things right and I'll take down this review. Very unfair to charge full price for terrible conditions. (99% of my reviews in my profile are 5-star)
