Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe Golf Course

Santa Fe, New Mexico, USANorthern New Mexico

Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe Golf Course delivers a public, links-style 18-hole layout amidst the high desert landscape of Santa Fe. Its fairways reward precision while deep rough challenges accuracy, making it an approachable venue with a relaxed atmosphere and authentic southwestern character.

Course Overview

Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe Golf Course offers a straightforward public playing experience set against the high desert landscape of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The 18-hole layout spans a modest yardage that challenges players to maintain accuracy above power, as the course’s fairways reward precision and penalize stray shots with dense, deep rough. The overall feel leans toward a traditional links-style course, though it unfolds amid a high-altitude environment rather than coastal dunes, mixing open terrain with subtle elevation changes that gently test shot shaping and club selection.

Golfers will find the course approachable for a wide range of skill levels. Fairways, when maintained within their intended edges, provide solid lies, but venturing off the short grass leads to thick and resilient rough that demands a measured approach. The greens have drawn mixed reviews—currently presenting with some uneven surfaces and patchiness—yet they remain playable, especially as course management undertakes improvements. Bunkers are well positioned, presenting strategic hazards rather than unfair traps, guarding the well-sculpted greens throughout.

The surrounding scenery reflects the high desert’s expansive skies and sparse vegetation, offering open views that enhance the sense of space and light rather than dense foliage or dramatic mountainous backdrops. Players often note the welcoming atmosphere fostered by attentive staff at the clubhouse, which supplies fundamental amenities to support a comfortable round.

For visitors planning a trip, expect a pace of play that typically remains steady, with marshals balancing flow even during busier periods. Walking the course is encouraged, though the dry terrain and sun exposure advise bringing sturdy shoes and sun protection. The course is suited to golfers seeking a relaxed outing rather than a meticulously manicured championship test, complemented by reasonable green fees that make it accessible for locals and travelers alike.

In all, Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe stands as a solid public option within New Mexico’s golf offerings—an unpretentious layout where shot accuracy reigns and the environment invites players to engage with the natural rhythm of golf under open skies.

Course Highlights

Creve course great challenging holes just needs some TLC the rough is too rough fairways should be groomed and the greens definitely need some pampering. It's not cheap but not expensive either Just a maintenance kept up would be most appreciated and well deserved and it would make it an awesome course

Played on July 4th. Course better than reviews. Beautiful layout. Beautiful views. Great pace. Good value. Still tons of dandelions but course is laying out herbicides next week. Fairways solid. Bunkers good. Greens still bumpy and shaggy but recovering. Should be up to speed in a few weeks

First time ever play here. It was a nice experience. The staff inside the pro shop and the snack bar were friendly. The course was laid out nicely. Some of the greens and fairways were a little patchy or not really regular grass. Some bare spots some cracks in the ground. For the most part though you were hitting off really nice grass if you stayed in the fairway. If you got off the fairway into the rough it was deep, deep, deep. You better keep it straight at this course. Would I play it again? Yes I would do I recommend it? Yes I do give it a try and have some fun

Played this course in Santa Fe and was really let down. The “greens” were in terrible shape—barely playable. You couldn’t even putt in a straight line with how bumpy and patchy they were. Fairways didn’t really exist—just dry dirt and dandelions scattered around. To top it off, the course ranger told me I was lagging behind, even though I was clearly waiting for the group ahead to clear. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is because the price was decent. But overall, it felt more like a neglected field than a golf course.

In general have loved this course over the years. Great layout, staff and usually pretty well maintained. Played last week and the greens are in as bad of shape as I've ever seen-everywhere else on course was fine. Know they are working on improving this but no way to putt reliably at moment
