Pole Creek Golf Club

Tabernash, Colorado, USANorthern Colorado Rockies

Pole Creek Golf Club presents an engaging mountain golf experience with three distinct nine-hole courses set against panoramic Rockies views. Combining elevation changes, natural hazards, and well-maintained greens, it offers players a challenge balanced by accessible playability throughout the seasons.

Course Overview

Pole Creek Golf Club in Tabernash, Colorado, offers a distinct alpine golf experience across its expansive 27-hole layout. Composed of three individual nine-hole courses—Ridge, Meadow, and Ranch—this public resort course blends mountain terrain with steadily rolling fairways and dense stands of pine. Players encounter a setting where the crisp mountain air mingles with sweeping vistas of the Rockies, lending vivid sensory contrast to the round. The course’s design leverages elevation changes and natural contours to challenge golfers of varying skill levels, yet never alienates those seeking a more approachable experience.

Ridge and Meadow are often paired for an 18-hole round, their combination showcasing a balance between strategic shot-making and a walk through ever-changing scenery. The Ridge course stands out with several holes perched on ridgelines, where swirling mountain winds can subtly alter ball flight and demand precise control. Meanwhile, Meadow courses through meadows and forest edges, rewarding accuracy and course management. The Ranch layout offers a similar elevation drama, integrating water hazards that come into play on key holes, including a notably complex par-5 with a double dogleg.

Greens at Pole Creek maintain a smooth and consistent pace, thanks to a dedicated maintenance team focused on providing top conditions year-round, despite the challenges posed by mountain weather. The course invites both walkers and riders; walking is encouraged to fully absorb the landscape, though the terrain’s elevation shifts call for steady footing and comfortable golf shoes. The clubhouse, featuring a welcoming dining area and practice facilities, supports a full day of golf with a focus on comfort and convenience.

Pole Creek Golf Club’s blend of natural mountain beauty, thoughtful design, and accessible playability makes it a notable destination for those traveling through Colorado’s high country. Whether arriving to escape the heat of lower elevations or chasing an invigorating round in a serene wilderness setting, golfers find here a course that rewards attention to detail and offers a rich, memorable experience.

Course Highlights

The three nine-hole courses provide diverse challenges framed by mountain ridges and pine forests. Elevated tees and greens invite strategic club selection, while natural water hazards and contour-driven bunkers demand precision. Signature holes include a demanding par-5 double dogleg on Meadow with a downhill tee shot over a large fairway bunker and an uphill approach to a green guarded by water. The course is also praised for its scenic wildlife sightings and tranquil mountain ambiance.

Colorados best kept secret. Amazing views and challenging course. 4/5 stars because our cart ran out of battery on the 16th at twilight, which ended our round. Heard they might get new carts for the upcoming season.

I have played here twice now. This is my favorite course In the winter park/granby area. The ridge course is a really fun 9 holes. Great views all around this course. If you wait until after 2pm they charge you 9hole rate for a full 18. Still plenty of time to get In the full 18. Great practice facilities and beautiful clubhouse. Highly recommend!!

What a wonderful day my wife and I had. We live in Bennett Colorado, and the day we traveled to pole Creek, the Denver daytime temp was 99°+ and the Mountain temp was in the low eighties. This was one of the reasons we chose to play here. All reviews seemed to be good to great. So we booked it and decided to make a day of it. We left our home at 9 am with traffic in Denver and up I70 and Highway 40 we arrived at the course right around 11:30am. We got to the course a bit early for a 2 12pm tee time, but with construction in multiple areas of both highways, I figured it would be better to give myself time. This was great because we were able to go to the restaurant and get a nice lunch, and also gave us sufficient time to warm up on the driving range/ chipping area/ putting green. Pole Creek is a 27-hole course with 3 individual 9-hole courses. We got to play the Ridge and the Medow. Beautiful views everywhere tou looked. We saw a Deer on the Driving range, a fox around hole 6 on the ridge. On our second nine (meadow), it rained for about 10 minutes and was great it really made the wonderful fresh mountain air come to life with a new pine smell and a great fresh earth smell. I found to be what I thought was the most difficult hole on either 9. #7 on Meadow. This is a par 5 with a double dog leg to the left. In your first shot, you have to carry a large fairway bunker with a 190 carry with a 234 run out area downhill. (I suggest you don't try to cut the corner on the left side. Instead, play to either carry the bunker or right of the bunker.) Next, your second shot depends on how far you can carry your ball. The shot is uphill, and you have a water hazard to carry. I played a layup as I tried to cut the corner and bounced off the trees into the rough near the bunker. I played to the fairway, just short of the pond. Still had 205 yards to the center of the green with a big uphill shot. Took a 3 iron and put it on the green. I will definitely recommend this course to everyone, and it will definitely go down as some of my best golfing memories. It's worth the drive and the money. Best total golf experience we have ever had. Thank you to the Pole Creek staff and greens crew. You guys are doing a great job. Can't wait to come back and play the Ranch in a future trip.
