Course Overview

Rooster Run Golf Club, situated just outside the town of Petaluma, California, offers an inviting 18-hole experience that balances challenge with accessibility for golfers of varying skill levels. This public course unfolds across gently rolling terrain characteristic of the region, featuring a classic parkland layout that weaves through well-maintained fairways and vibrant native vegetation. The course’s design rewards thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming less experienced players, making it a favored choice for families, casual players, and those eager to refine their game.

Spread over a generous expanse, Rooster Run's fairways are notably forgiving, easing recovery after an errant tee shot. The clubhouse, though modest, features a friendly bar and restaurant, perfect for unwinding after a round and sharing stories over local fare. For those who arrive without clubs, rental equipment is available, accommodating visitors seeking ease and convenience.

Walking is encouraged at Rooster Run, with the course’s manageable scale and gentle terrain offering a pleasant stroll from hole to hole. Those planning visits after rain should note that carts may be restricted to paved paths to protect the turf, so sturdy footwear is advisable.

I played golf on a course the day after it rained. To protect the grass, carts were only allowed on the concrete paths. This made it a bit challenging to get around, but it was worth it for the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. The course was quite large, and I enjoyed the challenge of playing on the different holes. Unfortunately, there were a few young people who were making a lot of noise and being disrespectful. This was a bit disruptive, but we tried not to let it ruin our experience. Overall, I had a great time golfing at this course. The scenery was beautiful, the course was challenging, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend this course to others, especially if you are looking for a peaceful and scenic place to play golf.

Had a blast out here with my brother, dad and brother in law. The course is fun, not challenging, not easy. The fairways are forgiving as I don't play that much. But I definitely want to come back. Clubhouse is relatively small and they have a bar/restaurant for after the round. You can also rent clubs here if you need to (Strata).

Easy going driving range and putting green, totally self-service. Large bucket is 80 balls for $15. Interesting to have the small planes fly overhead from the region airstrip across the road!
