Chicopee Woods Golf Course

Gainesville, Georgia, USANortheast Georgia

Chicopee Woods Golf Course offers a balanced 27-hole experience featuring three distinct nine-hole layouts through gentle wooded terrain. With a welcoming design that suits all skill levels and a top-rated driving range, Chicopee Woods invites golfers in Gainesville to enjoy a practical yet refreshing municipal round.

Course Overview

Located just off Atlanta Highway in Gainesville, Georgia, Chicopee Woods Golf Course offers a distinctive municipal golfing experience that caters to a broad spectrum of players. This 27-hole complex is divided into three nine-hole loops known as Mill, Village, and School, allowing for varied configurations and a fresh challenge on every visit. The layout weaves through gently rolling terrain mature with towering trees, while occasional water hazards and well-positioned bunkers add strategic depth to each hole.

Chicopee Woods presents an accessible yet engaging test for golfers of differing skill levels. The fairways are generally wide and forgiving, making it ideal for beginners and mid-handicap players to find comfortable drives and approach shots. Meanwhile, the greens—often praised when in prime condition—offer a smooth putting surface that rewards precision and touch. Variations in pin placements and subtle undulations keep scoring competitive, providing a worthwhile experience for low-handicap players as well.

Set against a backdrop of northern Georgia’s lush greenery, the course allows players to enjoy natural surroundings without the distraction of excessive elevation changes. Each nine-hole sector has subtle personality traits; the Village Course tends to challenge with tighter shots and well-guarded greens, while the Mill and School courses offer a more open style of play that encourages creativity off the tee.

Facility-wise, Chicopee Woods features a well-maintained clubhouse with a pro shop stocked with essentials, and a driving range that’s often rated among the best in the area—ideal for warm-ups or fine-tuning your swing. Service staff generally enhance the experience with friendly on-course support. While the course has evolved over time, occasional maintenance such as aeration may impact conditions; checking current course status is recommended before play.

Practical tips: walking is allowed and manageable due to moderate terrain, though comfortable footwear helps, especially during warmer months. Cart rentals are available but many players appreciate the course’s walkability. Pricing has increased recently, so prospective visitors should plan accordingly for weekend rounds. Overall, Chicopee Woods Golf Course remains a solid choice for those seeking a mix of challenge and relaxation just outside Gainesville.

Amazing course. Perfect greens, amazing fairways, and wide fairways as well. Even the driving range is really the best around. So, so good.

Mane, you can’t go wrong with selecting Chicopee for a round of golf… ⛳️ Like Sugar Hill, it’s a city course and well maintained. They have 27 holes, Mill/Village/School and they operate it like 2 courses. Today, April 17, the course was still transitioning from winter and green fairways weren’t prominent. But the greens were the best I have seen all year and rolling pure. The Marshalls were cool and respectful; in fact, they ushered us to another 9 after they realized our 9 and 13 handicaps were stuck behind the Post Master’s Crowd 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿 The cart girl is a vet and she will take care of your needs. The club house is clean and golf ready. The grill used to be the bomb with a bad ass cook but I’m not sure if he is still working. I didn’t visit today. With that, Chicopee GC is an old gem in Gainesville and worth the drive. It’s a step above Royal Lakes and Chattahoochee GC. The course is fair and the pace of play is usually 4 hours or less. However, my only complaint is the price hike!! Holy Cow Batman, the prices have jumped about $25 for both week days and the weekends. Today I paid $60 but the weekend is clocking in at a cool $90-$100! WTH! Chimneys in Winder did the same thing, as municipal course. If you play, call M-TH.

Enjoyed a round. Really enjoyed the course a lot. Was my first time. The course has a great layout. This was the day after a huge rain storm in the area and still loved it. Great helpful friendly staff. Really great pro shop with a lot of stuff. Greens rolled great even after a aeration that must have been a couple weeks ago. Look forward to playing a tourney there Monday.

I was double charged for two separate reservations, both for July 5th. • The first reservation was made on June 30th for 2 people ($109.78), which we canceled on the same day. • On that same day, we made a new reservation for July 4th for 4 people ($235.84). Despite canceling the first one, we were charged for both, which is clearly a mistake. When I brought this up to the manager, the experience was incredibly disappointing. He was rude and dismissive, and even blamed a baby in the backseat of our car—who simply made a sound—as the reason for not issuing a refund. He mocked us, laughed about the situation, and used the baby as an excuse not to help. I felt humiliated and disrespected. This was not just poor customer service—it was unprofessional and insulting. I expected basic courtesy and fairness but received neither. I have decided not to tolerate their rude behavior. From now on, I will treat them as they treat me. I do not recommend this place unless serious changes are made. If this behavior reflects how management treats customers, I hope the business seriously reconsiders who they allow to represent them.

Played a round this morning with family. We booked the round 2 weeks ago after I played here a few months ago with friends and loved it. Great course but greens were absolutely terrible. We called beforehand ask asked about course conditions and they conveniently didn't mention the greens. They were punched with basically 1” of sand (School was better than Village - Village also had bad tire wear on multiple greens). The starter told us after we’d checked in that “we’ve only punched 1 of the 3 tracts so y’all will be good” - which was false. The fact that they charged full price with almost unplayable greens is ridiculous

Overall the course at Chicopee is beautiful, but and that being a big but the staff is horrendous. I tracked to Chicopee with some of my family on vacation. Some of them including my Grandparents, who do not golf regularly but were just planning on riding and having a good time. We were immediately met with hostility at the front desk with a dumb tshirt rule when all but one of us are wearing a collared shirt and golf attire. They then proceed to make only a few of us play. And then kept haggling us about our tee time and plenty of other things to where only a few of us could actually play. Then we I originally booked the tee time I was told there would be club rentals. There was not. I was beyond frustrated with the staff. They make you feel like an idiot and like you don’t know what your doing but really it’s them.
