Barefoot - Love Golf Course

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USAMyrtle Beach

Barefoot - Love Golf Course delivers a balanced 18-hole parkland layout crafted by Davis Love III. Known for its approachable play and scenic water features near historic plantation ruins, this public course blends Southern charm with thoughtful strategic design.

Course Overview

Barefoot - Love Golf Course in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, offers a vibrant 18-hole experience designed by Davis Love III that balances a classic Carolina golf feel with a layout accessible to a broad range of players. This public course presents a parkland style with lush fairways, strategically placed water features, and compelling elevation changes that add subtle complexity without overwhelming golfers of moderate skill. Its wide landing areas invite confident tee shots, while approach shots demand precision over ponds and well-guarded greens. The course's flowing design encourages rhythm, yet the occasional water hazard and bunkers provide a steady test for low handicaps seeking to sharpen their short game.

Surrounded by a verdant setting punctuated by water bodies and occasional glimpses of the resort’s plantation ruins, the course shapes an inviting visual frame without compromising pace of play. Players often remark that the front and back nines offer differing challenges, with the holes near the plantation ruins standing out for their character and scenic quality. The greens, maintained to present fast but fair conditions, require thoughtful reading and smooth stroke execution.

While the Love Course offers a friendly pace and approachable angles, golfers should anticipate a full round lasting about five hours, making early tee times advisable during peak seasons. Practice facilities are available on-site, and free range balls are included with green fees, enhancing preparation opportunities before stepping onto the course. Amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse serving breakfast items and beverages, though food options beyond light sandwiches may be limited. Water and beverage carts circulate regularly but can be sparse during busy periods, so carrying hydration is recommended, especially on warm days.

Overall, Barefoot - Love Golf Course embodies an inviting Southern golf experience. It suits players looking for enjoyable, walkable golf with a mixture of scenic views and measurable challenges. Its blend of approachability and strategic elements makes it a rewarding stop for casual rounds and competitive play alike.

Nice layout but it rained on us every day except 1. The course was in good shape, not great. The greens were good, very smooth, not too fast. They only had one beverage cart for 3 courses so getting a drink wasn't easy. The beverage cart driver was very polite & helpful when we saw her

Played it today and the course is in amazing shape. Be prepared though for a five hour round, but you get that with these great courses. Downside to me was that the cart girl only had light snacks. The course never takes you back to the pro shop until you finish the round so take a snack or some jerky if you need a meal at the turn. Group in front of us did play slow, but never saw a ranger speed them up. Water cart passed us once on the front and once on the back, which was not good on a 90 degree plus day. We did see the cart girl twice on each side. Would play again, just be prepared for slow play.

Such a great golf course. A lot of fun holes, the 4 holes near the plantation ruins are the highlight. Free range balls included and very friendly staff. The course was very well maintained also. Greens were pretty fast and taken care of. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better golf round.

I recently played a round at the Barefoot Love Course in Myrtle Beach, and I have to say, it was one of the most enjoyable golf experiences I’ve had in a while. The course is in great shape—lush fairways, smooth greens, and just enough challenge to keep things interesting without being punishing. Designed by Davis Love III, it has a really classic, Carolina feel with wide landing areas and some stunning visuals, especially around the water features. The staff was friendly, the pace of play was solid, and the whole vibe was just relaxed but professional. I’d definitely come back for another round.

No food in the clubhouse (unless u want breakfast sandwich stashed for lunch). Yum, cold eggs. No sandwiches (or anything) prepared for ppl teeing off in the morning. Cart lady has no food. Teeboxes haven't been cut in days. Bunkers are about 1/4" deep (at least the ones I visited). Not worth it. River Hills MUCH better condition. Tidewater much better if looking for higher end quality. As a bonus, you'll be waiting at minimum 5min between shots
