Arrowhead Country Club

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USAMyrtle Beach

Arrowhead Country Club in Myrtle Beach presents three distinctive nine-hole courses that blend strategic design with varied water features and mature woodland. Known for well-conditioned greens and a layout that appeals to players of multiple skill levels, Arrowhead stands out as an accessible yet challenging public course in South Carolina.

Course Overview

Arrowhead Country Club, located just off Burcale Road in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, offers a competitive yet approachable challenge across its 27 holes, divided into three distinct nine-hole layouts: Cypress, Lakes, and Waterway. This public daily-fee course blends traditional design elements with natural Florida swamp and pine landscapes, creating an experience that appeals to a broad spectrum of golfers seeking both strategy and scenic breaks.

The layout demands thoughtful shot-making. Fairways undulate with narrow corridors guarded by towering pines and cypress trees, while water hazards strategically come into play on a majority of the holes, compelling players to balance aggression with precision. Doglegs require careful club selection and course management, rewarding those who can control trajectory and placement.

Greens at Arrowhead offer a unique challenge. Maintaining a reputation for smooth and true putting surfaces, recent reviews highlight immaculate conditions and quality speed—though some rounds may reveal subtle differences under changing seasonal conditions. Bunkers frame several greens with well-maintained sand and grass edges, emphasizing precision around the greens.

The Cypress nine, frequently praised for its scenic and varied routing, provides several memorable holes where water and foliage craft a distinct sense of place within the broader Myrtle Beach golf scene. Meanwhile, Lakes and Waterway nines bring tighter fairways and water-laden risk-reward holes, appealing to players who thrive under the pressure of challenging layouts.

Arrowhead’s practice facilities are well-appointed, featuring a driving range and practice greens that support warming up and fine-tuning short games. The clubhouse maintains a straightforward, welcoming atmosphere with efficient staff services, ensuring play begins and ends on a positive note.

Designed for daily-fee play, this course is accessible to a range of golfers—from weekend adventurers aiming to enjoy Myrtle Beach’s renowned golfing opportunities to low handicappers who relish strategic routing and tight fairways. Walking is encouraged for those seeking a more intimate connection, though carts are readily available. Seasonal weather can affect playability, so planning for warm, humid conditions is advised.

Arrowhead Country Club manages to balance natural beauty and thoughtful architecture, offering a compelling golf experience that fits the competitive spirit of South Carolina’s famed golf corridor.

Play we to day with my 3 sons. My wife and daughter in law spectated. We played the The Cypress and Waterway The course is beautiful but deadly. Layout is hard and it whipped out butts but it was fun. We had such a good time together and being privileged to play this gem..

Cart attendants- 1 out of 5. Just tons of attitude and that harsh northern personality. They were very aggressive and God forbid you move the cart without their permission. They will yell at you. I won’t return to this course based on the attendants alone. Fairways- 4 out of 5. This course sees a lot of play and while the fairways are good, there is some wear. Greens- 3 out of 5. These greens are sluggish at best, they feel very hairy and thick. If you’re looking for your ball to roll out on a putt, this isn’t the place. Bunkers- 4 out of 5. Some grass growing in bunkers but most are gorgeous. Layout- 4 out of 5. Mostly traditional holes, some severe doglegs. Clubhouse- 5 out of 5. Nice and simple check-in, fast and quick service in the restaurant. Driving range/practice green- 5 out of 5.

This course is an absolute gem. It’s not far from anything, it’s not too expensive, and the conditions were as good as I’ve seen at any public course. There’s a lot of ways you can play this course. You can pull driver and take risks & be aggressive, or you can take a safer approach to it and you won’t be too penalized for playing it safe. The greens were IMMACULATE, the starter (Dean) was the nicest guy ever, and 4 of us were done in 4 hours. A+

Played the cypress and lakes courses. Course in very good shape and greens rolled very well. Challenging course with water in play on most of the holes. Fairways were undulating and narrowish. A lot of doglegs with trees coming into play. You need to hit your spots. Staff very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to playing again. Wish they had GPS on carts

Everything about Arrowhead Country Club is excellent. The cypress 9 is as scenic a 9 I have played in Myrtle. I played the Dunes Club and Dye Course as well on this trip and Arrowhead ranked ahead of them for me based on conditions and affordability.

A first rate course. Plenty of water shots so bring plenty of balls if you spray the ball. I wish I lived closer so I could play this course more often!
