Eagle Nest Golf Club

Little River, South Carolina, USAMyrtle Beach Area

Eagle Nest Golf Club delivers an inviting coastal golf experience just outside Little River, SC. This public 18-hole layout blends parkland charm with strategic water hazards and gently breezy conditions for a memorable round suited to all levels.

Course Overview

Eagle Nest Golf Club offers a compelling golf experience along the South Carolina coastline, standing out as a public 18-hole course where challenge and accessibility meet. Located just minutes from Little River, this course balances natural beauty with a layout that invites players of varying skill levels to test their mettle.

The course stretches over approximately 6,800 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. It blends a traditional parkland style with gentle coastal influences, allowing the Atlantic breezes to subtly shape each shot. Fairways wind through mature trees and cleverly positioned bunkers, while water hazards come into play on several holes, offering strategic opportunities as well as visual interest.

Players often note the 18th hole as a memorable finish—a par 3 where a broad water hazard guards the approach and sand bunkers flank the green, demanding precision and confident club selection. This challenge captures the spirit of Eagle Nest, where holes offer enough complexity to engage low handicaps without overwhelming higher handicaps.

The landscape itself feels alive, with the wind’s rhythm playing a quiet role in shot-making decisions. Greens here run moderately fast and require careful reading, rewarding smart approaches with birdie chances. Maintenance standards remain high, and the staff’s welcoming nature adds to the inviting atmosphere.

Beyond the course, amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse providing a relaxing setting before and after rounds. Golfers are encouraged to walk the course when conditions allow; solid footwear is advisable given occasional undulations and turf firmness.

Rooted in local history, Eagle Nest was founded in 1971 with the intent of delivering a quality, affordable golfing destination for the community. A unique landmark on the grounds is the classic Cadillac, referencing this legacy and adding a touch of character to the round.

Whether seeking a testing but fair track near the coast or a friendly environment to sharpen skills, Eagle Nest Golf Club strikes a balance that keeps players returning season after season.

Course Highlights

Eagle Nest Golf Club is distinguished by its scenic layout combining coastal wind challenges with parkland-style tree-lined fairways. The presence of the vintage Cadillac on course pays homage to the club’s founding history, enriching the atmosphere with local character.

We didn’t have the money to play some of the expensive courses this year like “tidewater” “bearfoot” or some of the other well known courses so we went with something cheaper. I was honestly nervous about how this course would be because of how cheap it was with being that close to the beach. It ended up being an awesome course nice staff conditions were great. Tough course but shot really well greens were rolling good. We will be playing at eagles nest when we come back down for the summer.

My family and I come to Myrtle Beach every year and we’ve played just about every course in the area. This has got to be the best golf course we’ve ever played. It’s was gorgeous to look at, simple but just challenging enough that we could never get bored of it! We will definitely be back before we leave in a week and we will be back the next time we are in the area!

Eagle Nest is a beautifully manicured course with friendly and welcoming staff that made the day even more enjoyable. The layout is both challenging and fun, offering a good mix of holes to test your skills. While the pace of play was slightly slower than ideal at 4 hours and 46 minutes, it was still manageable. Hole 18 really stands out—an intimidating par 3 with water dominating the fairway and sand bunkers guarding the green. A tough finish, but a memorable one! Here, you will play and also learn history. Founded in 1971 by longtime public servant and visionary Dick Elliott, the course was born from his dream to create an affordable, welcoming golf destination for players of all levels. So don’t miss the old Cadillac on the course—a nod to Dick Elliott himself, adding a nostalgic charm that ties past and present together.

I had an amazing experience. The course is challenging and forgiving at the same time. Hope that makes sense. The staff is very friendly. One of the people who let me take a selfie with them os Eric. He has awesome stories and is very personable. From the scenery, to the staff. To the level of challenge, I enjoyed every moment.

Great course, great staff and even a great price. Greens run slow, but overall, it's a really nice course. And like I said, the staff is really great. My 11 year old son played there two days in a row and wanted to come back again…

My son and i enjoy playing this course on our trips to Myrtle Beach, greens were just aerated, so they weren't quite up to par.
