Evergreen Golf Course

Evergreen, Colorado, USAMountain Region

Evergreen Golf Course challenges players with a rugged 18-hole mountain layout featuring blind tee shots, tight fairways, and pine-lined corridors. Its natural terrain and inviting elevation changes provide a compelling golf experience amid Colorado's distinctive highland scenery.

Course Overview

Carving a distinct footprint high in the Colorado Rockies, Evergreen Golf Course offers an 18-hole mountain layout that invites golfers to engage with a unique set of challenges far removed from the typical lowland course. Located at 29614 Upper Bear Creek Rd, Evergreen, CO, this public track presents a rugged environment shaped by dense forests, uneven terrain, and natural rock formations that demand thoughtful shot-making and patience.

The course’s design makes no concessions to simplicity. Several holes feature blind tee shots that require players to trust their judgment and local knowledge, a characteristic that elevates the mental game. Coupled with tight fairways lined by thick rough and towering pine trees, Evergreen makes positioning off the tee an essential strategy. The well-bunkered greens, though sometimes showing signs of wear, hold subtle breaks that reward precise approach shots over brute force.

Elevation changes throughout the course add visual appeal and strategic variety, providing panoramic views that shift as you move from hole to hole. The atmosphere is punctuated by wildlife sightings and the sounds of the mountain environment, creating an immersive experience that emphasizes the natural setting. While the course is approachable for players of intermediate skill, the blind shots and narrow landing areas are likely to test even steady mid-handicappers.

Guests are encouraged to walk, with most members and visitors opting for push carts. Footwear with strong traction is advisable due to varied footing on slopes and occasionally rocky fairway sections. The absence of a driving range means warm-ups may need to be planned offsite, adding to the course’s appeal as a playing-focused destination rather than a practice facility.

Service staff receive positive notes for friendliness and helpfulness, enhancing the overall experience. Additional amenities include an on-site grill that opens seasonally, offering refreshment that rounds out a day on the course. Whether planning a weekend getaway or a mountain golf outing, Evergreen provides an authentic, thoughtfully challenging environment that rewards careful play and appreciation of its high-altitude personality.

Course Highlights

The course stands out for its mountain setting, incorporating seven blind tee shots and fairways bordered by thick rough and natural rock formations. Tight corridors flanked by towering pines test precision, while elevation shifts offer both strategic diversity and scenic views. Lack of a driving range emphasizes a play-focused visit, complemented by a friendly staff and seasonal grill amenities.

For everyone who hasn’t played here before: THERE IS NO DRIVING RANGE. Tricky but short course. 7 different blind tee shots. You have to walk up and make sure the fairway is clear but it provides an engaging atmosphere that keeps you focused on your game. Just because the last few holes are technically drivable, doesn’t mean you should go for them. Trees and doglegs make a short course a real challenge. The rough is thick and there is plenty of tall natural grass and rocky areas. Lots of wildlife. A few spots on the fairway and greens use some TLC but overall, this is an incredible experience. How often do you get to golf on a mountain? Can’t wait for my next round out here when the grill is open. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

The course is great. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with the staff. The party behind us was playing speed golf even though they had a kid with them. So, since they were blazing up behind us, they decided to call the pro shop and complain, and we got harassed almost every other hole. I pay to play and enjoy my time not being rushed. We even caught up to the players ahead of us and didn't call on them....go figure. Courtesy. We were even right on time for our turnaround. My advice to the pro shop is to check the time and see if everyone is right on schedule and not just take the word of a whiny bunch who wants to run through the course. Everyone pays to play. Only giving 2 stars because the course was nice.

Stopping in for dinner a hike, seated promptly and before we'd even had a chance of looking at the menu, there was iced water and a bread basket good to go. The lass serving us was very attentive, polite and well informed about the menu. Food was well portioned, and great tasting. The pork shank was sublime in flavour, as was the cherry pie and ice cream. Well worth a visit even if you're not a golfer. There was a saxophone player setting up as we finished, so live music is available

Great course. Great service. My buddies and I have golfed this course a lot over the years, and fully intend to keep going back anytime we have a mountain trip or weekend getaway. The most recent trip out, around the 3rd week of June, we were greeted by Roby at the pro shop. He took excellent care of us, gave us some pointers on some tricky holes, and was just overall a delightful guy to meet. Thanks for the time, and we'll see The Evergreen Team again soon!

I have golfed this course twice now and have enjoyed it both times. There are quite a few blind holes so it is a little challenging to know if it is clear to tee off. Hole 3 is a complete blind shot over a huge boulder, making it kind of fun and a challenging par 3! At least there is a bell that the previous group has to ring, signaling that the green is clear and you can tee off. This course does not have a driving range, so if you are the kind of person that enjoys or needs the range before you play, you're not gonna get it. There is a chipping and putting practice area available. I dont know if there is ever a cart girl/guy but I have not come across one either time playing there. It sounds like the bar and restaurant has been closed for some time which was a little disappointing. Overall, Evergreen golf course is affordable and has some challenging holes to play!

I liked the course (a bit rugged, but priced right) and the staff. However, there are several holes where you're shooting blind and it's legitimately uncomfortable. It's compounded by how backed up it can be - you think you've waited a long time, then pull over the hill to realize you just hit into a group. The bar/restaurant was closed which was fine, but it was weird they were sold out of bottled water. I'll probably go again, but if they could address the blind spot issue (simple camera monitor system at certain tees?) it'd really enhance the safety/experience.

Me and my son played golf here while in vacation and I cannot recommend it enough. We are not scratch golfers by no means, so it was challenging with several blind holes and lots of tight fairways. Although we got a cart, most were walking with push carts. Pace of play was perfect. Very little to no waiting between holes. This is a great mountain course with picture perfect holes. Price was extremely affordable for what you get.
