Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort

Gautier, Mississippi, USAMississippi Coast

Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort is an 18-hole parkland course in Gautier, Mississippi, offering a naturally framed layout with approachable fairways and subtle green complexes. While currently facing challenges with course conditions, it provides an authentic Southern golf experience suited for players seeking a straightforward round in a relaxed environment.

Course Overview

Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort, located in Gautier, Mississippi, offers an 18-hole layout that blends traditional parkland design with a relaxed Southern charm. The course meanders through gently rolling terrain accented by tall pines and native hardwoods, creating a natural setting that feels both inviting and quietly challenging. While the design embraces accessible play, the conditions reported by recent players indicate a course currently in need of focused maintenance—greens have suffered from uneven surfaces and bare patches, fairways show signs of overgrowth, and bunkers have begun to fade into the surrounding grasses. Despite these drawbacks, the layout itself retains a structure that offers shot variety and strategic interest, particularly for golfers seeking a straightforward yet thoughtful round.

The course’s moderate length and par make it approachable to a broad range of golfers. Players can expect well-defined fairways lined with occasional tree clusters that test accuracy without overwhelming less-experienced swings. The greens are intended to provide subtle contours and require careful reading, though current conditions may impact putting quality. Hickory Hill’s location in the Mississippi coast region suggests generally mild playing weather year-round, with afternoon breezes that can gently influence ball flight and tempo.

Amenities at the club include a recently refreshed fleet of golf carts, though GPS units are not available, adding an element of traditional course navigation to rounds. The clubhouse offers comfortable spaces for post-round reflection and socializing, presenting a hospitable atmosphere amid the challenges of course conditions. Walking is permitted and encouraged, with mostly level paths and natural turf surfaces; players should bring appropriate footwear to manage softer or uneven ground spots.

For those planning a visit, Hickory Hill presents an opportunity to engage with a course that honors classic parkland golf in a tranquil setting. While maintenance improvements are essential for restoring the playing surfaces, the natural landscape and manageable design deliver a foundation for enjoyable golf. Visitors seeking quiet play and simpler navigation should find Hickory Hill a sincere experience worth exploration in the Gautier area.

Not sure if this place is under new management and haven't gotten things together yet but this course is absolutely horrible. The cart paths are in desperate need of repairs, the fairways in a lot of places actually have weeds growing in several places, not very well maintained. Many of the bunkers are getting over grown with grass and weeds, absolutely no water coolers anywhere on the course, many of the putting greens have bare spots, etc. The club house was nice though and they do have brand new golf carts. Paying the fees that they want I would expect a better glof experience. Probably won't go back. However I will say that the employees that work there were extremely polite and very helpful, they were the bright spot of my day.

Course conditions are not good. Greens slow and bushy. Fairways longer than should be. Layout is good. Gas carts. No GPS. Nice yardage book. Was not crowded when I played so pace of play was excellent.

Booked over golf now, so price was 35.00 this course is in terrible shape. The greens are basically gone don’t know what happened to them. Have never seen a course where all the greens have been lost. This should be disclosed to anyone who is planning on playing before they pay. No way to putt on them and play real golf.
