The Golf Club At Wescott Plantation

Summerville, South Carolina, USALowcountry South Carolina

The Golf Club At Wescott Plantation in Summerville, SC, offers a flexible 27-hole layout that balances accessible play with subtle strategic challenges. Its Lowcountry setting, combined with solid practice facilities and comfortable carts, makes it a rewarding stop for golfers of all levels.

Course Overview

Situated in Summerville, South Carolina, The Golf Club At Wescott Plantation offers a distinctive 27-hole experience where challenge and variety converge to engage golfers of diverse skill levels. This semi-private facility combines thoughtful course design with Southern charm, presenting three unique nine-hole layouts that can be played in flexible combinations. Set amid gently rolling terrain typical of the Lowcountry, the course blends natural contours with strategic bunkering and water hazards that coax players into calculated shot-making rather than brute power.

The layout emphasizes variety and pacing, with each nine-hole segment delivering a distinct test. Fairways are generally generous, allowing mid-handicappers to find safe lines without penalty, while the undulating greens demand precision on approach and thoughtful putting. The ever-present water elements and sand traps offer plenty of visual interest and strategic complexity, especially as the region’s coastal climate influences subtle shifts in firmness and wind direction.

The Golf Club At Wescott Plantation welcomes a broad spectrum of golfers. The course strikes a balance between accessibility and challenge, making it approachable for beginners seeking to build confidence, yet complex enough to hold the attention of lower handicaps who appreciate its nuanced design. The course conditions vary with the seasons, frequently maintained at a level that supports smooth play and enjoyable rounds, though winter months may see some dormancy in turf.

Beyond the course, the club’s facilities include a well-equipped driving range and a practice green, providing ample space for honing different aspects of your game before teeing off. Comfortable golf carts are standard, easing navigation across the varied terrain, while the clubhouse offers a welcoming space to relax and recharge after a round, featuring dining and beverage options.

Golfers planning a visit should prepare for occasional play delays during colder periods, but benefit from generally courteous staff and a pace of play that encourages an unhurried but steady rhythm. The Golf Club At Wescott Plantation delivers an experience rooted in thoughtful design and Southern hospitality, making it an inviting option for both locals and visitors passing through the Charleston area.

I know it’s off-season so I can’t really complain about dead grass or bad greens but overall I liked the course, staff was cool, and the course layout felt fun yet challenging. Carts were super comfortable for the price which is rare for the price you pay! I will say that the layout of the operations is a bit confusing. I’m not saying it’s bad but just a tad confusing for someone that’s never played here. The starters didn’t really seem to care about times or people on top of each other tho. I got sent out as a solo with a duo and another single behind me so we paired up and had a good time nonetheless. I just think to keep a good flow you should just stick solos with a group to keep it moving. Will be back in the summer to check it out tho!

I have a really difficult time giving this golf course any higher than three stars and if it weren't for the practice facility, that's as good as any public in the area and the clubhouse. that's relatively nice. it wouldn't even get that! after recently being out there regardless of what the weather's been, the conditions are hideous as bad as I've seen on any course in the area in 20 years! Greens at least were decent thankfully slow pace of play is always expected here and the layout is just boring! on top of all this, what really agitates me are the amount of big pee, pebbles and rocks in the bunkers under less than an inch of sand! both my 54 and 60° wedges now are scuffed to pieces! I can deal with pace of play and condition problems but not a course that can damage my equipment. that's incompetent The photos are deceptive. don't let them fool you. the fairways were mostly mud devoid of grass. the rough was barren and non-existent! truly sad. I've never seen the course so bad and I played it at least 10 to 15 times

While visiting family in the area I had the pleasure of playing this course for the first time. We had a rare frost delay as it was very cold after Thanksgiving. We were welcomed warmly, they have a great bar and we were able to relax and have some coffee while waiting. When we did get called we had a wide open course and enjoyed some great golf. Carts were comfortable, starter was pleasant, greens were fast, fairways were in great shape. All in all it was a great place to play. Well worth it.

Been playing at this facility for 5 years now and will now refrain from going due to the gentleman that are considered gold "rangers". Played a round on July 12th , got to the back 9 and was chased down, harassed, asked to stay still for 20 minutes due to staff pointing my brother and I in the wrong direction to then be patronized and told we dont listen when in all reality we were missing directed by staff. Realistically I was ok with the miscellaneous until we didn't finish our last 2 holes due to staff, and then berated by staff for " not listening" . Honestly the disrespect was unreal not only verbally but also to our time. I love this place to death but harassment is unacceptable.

This is a really nice city of North Charleston golf course. They actually have three different lines, so you get a unique experience if you play there any amount of time. The course has been upgraded over the years, they got a really nice driving range and practice green. Staff is nice. The assistant pro there is informative and knowledgeable. If you’re in North Charleston, South Carolina, you need to play this golf course. You will have fun. The food and the snack bar is very good.
