Old Kinderhook Golf Course

Camdenton, Missouri, USALake of the Ozarks

Old Kinderhook Golf Course delivers a demanding yet enjoyable 18-hole layout combining rolling Ozark terrain with lush fairways and fast greens. With its public access and well-maintained conditions, it offers a memorable golf experience suited for players seeking variety and natural beauty in the Lake of the Ozarks region.

Course Overview

Old Kinderhook Golf Course offers a compelling blend of challenge and relaxation set against the natural beauty of the Missouri Ozarks. This 18-hole public course stretches over 7,200 yards with a par of 72, presenting a layout that balances length with thoughtful strategic elements. The terrain is marked by rolling fairways and undulating greens sculpted amid wooded ridges and subtle elevation changes, creating a play experience that is as visually engaging as it is technically demanding.

The course invites golfers of all skill levels to test their game, with wide fairways that encourage aggressive tee shots, yet enough intricacies through well-placed bunkers and water hazards to challenge accuracy and course management. The greens are known for their speed and subtle breaks, demanding precise approach shots and confident putting strokes. While the fairways remain lush and forgiving, the rough is cut to a height that slows errant balls without overly punishing those who stray from the ideal line.

Beyond the fairways, players will notice the care given to course conditions. A recent visitor noted that while some bunker sand contains small rocks, the overall maintenance keeps turf health and course presentation at a high standard even after heavy rains. The course clubhouse includes a café offering a satisfying selection of lunch options and attentive beverage service, ensuring a comfortable pause between rounds.

Visitors planning to play should consider early tee times during summer months to avoid the afternoon heat, and bring durable footwear suitable for some soft spots in low-lying areas. Carts with ball and club cleaners enhance convenience on the course. The staff places strong emphasis on guest support, making coordination for groups straightforward and welcoming.

Old Kinderhook successfully marries rugged Ozark landscapes with a thoughtfully designed golf experience that beckons players back, promising both memorable scenery and a well-rounded challenge from the opening tee through the final putt.

We called ahead and got a tee time. We discussed playing 36 holes, and getting the replay rate. Our group arrived 35 minutes before our tee time. Took an unreasonable amount of time to get checked in, were we only had a couple minutes to warm up. Fun track with some difficult holes, and some gettable ones. Cafe in the club house had a few delicious lunch options. Beverage lady did us well. Best course I played in the Ozarks area.

Very beautiful and fun course. Would love to play this in the fall as today it was brutal heat. Carts have ball and club cleaners and a cooler on the side so you can keep the basket behind the seat free for other golf items. Fairways were very plush and the rough was playable but just the right height to grab your iron and really slow it down. Greens were fast but in great shape. Can't wait to get back down there when the heat wave is over.

My group keeps coming back to this course over and over again. It's one of my favorite layouts. And Blake, the Golf Group Sales Director, is really great in helping us coordinate rooms and tee times. I highly recommend this course and staff.

The negative. Nothing really comes to mind. Greens had some scarring in them but nothing major. Overall, the course is in great shape. A little soggy in the bottoms but nothing major. Greens are hard and fast. I liked them. Bunkers are hard with some rocks. Not a fan of that for my club's sake. Had to move some pebbles and debris before I swung. Made it more challenging. That was the worse part of my game play, the greens. Great views, challenging, good length. Had a great time and look forward to playing there again!
