Situated in the high desert landscape of Southern California, Hesperia Golf & Country Club commands attention with its 18-hole layout that challenges golfers while providing a refreshing escape from urban life. The course unfolds across wide fairways framed by natural desert flora, creating a distinctive blend of open playability and strategic nuance. Its design invites players of varied skill levels to engage with a course that embraces both the desert’s rugged features and a tastefully maintained turf.
Hesperia offers a distinctly accessible experience, welcoming golfers who appreciate a course that rewards thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming those still mastering the game. Wide landing zones coexist with well-positioned bunkers that guard the greens, testing approach shots where precision truly counts. The greens themselves maintain a smooth rolling surface, demanding subtle touch while encouraging confident putts.
The setting makes the most of the local geography with gentle elevation changes and desert shrubs that bring character to each hole, while open skies and typically mild weather add to the overall comfort. Though some maintenance challenges have been reported over recent years, dedicated staff efforts aim to keep the course in playable condition, especially through seasonal improvements.
Players should be prepared for occasional surface irregularities in fairways and bunkers due to ground squirrels and weather-related wear. Walking is entirely feasible, but given the course's desert environment and some slope variations, sturdy footwear is recommended to maintain footing and comfort.
The clubhouse serves as a functional hub where friendly staff assist with equipment and tee-time arrangements, emphasizing a laid-back, community-oriented atmosphere. Though a public facility, it benefits from local enthusiasts who prioritize pace and etiquette to enhance the playing experience.
Hesperia Golf & Country Club fits those seeking a course that balances straightforward shot options with moments of genuine challenge, all set against a backdrop that distinctly honors its desert surroundings. A pleasant surprise was a chilly day at Hesperia Golf & Country Club. This was the second time we played and we were very surprised it wasn't busier. This course was in good shape and the staff was wonderful.

Staff in the pro shop is fantastic. Very fun course, with fairly wide open fairways. Well placed bunkers, but the bunker sand is rock hard. Greens are in good shape, but there are a decent amount of divots that people are not fixing.

This is my home course I play here quite often, I think it's the most challenging course in high desert. The course looks and is playing better than it has in many years. The new management and greens crew is doing an awesome job. I'm updating this as of July 24th 2021. Today is April 23rd 2025 I am updating my review, the course is in even better shape. The staff is Awesome, great course.

Should be the premiere course in the high desert, however it’s not. 7 years ago we had 12 players playing there twice a week. Now we have 3-4 playing once a week. Poorly maintained, broken sprinkler system leaves dry patches in the fairways and on the greens and stagnant puddles throughout. Dozen upon dozens of ground squirrels digging holes in the fairways and bunkers. Roughs are not consistently cut, greens are not well taken care of. Getting punched maybe once a year and seldom rolled. The city Recreation department does a terrible job of maintenance. In all fairness to the employees, the maintenance team is way understaffed, maybe three part time workers where there should be three times that number working full time and pro shop workers are top notch. The real issue is that the city/Recreation Department either doesn’t know how, or doesn’t care to, run the course properly.

Course was great because I didn't hit in a bunker. Worst part was the starter told us 2 groups of 4 (local men's club) were going out in front of us and they were slow. We asked to go ahead of them to no avail. Golf took 5 hours. The group would not let us pass. No Marshall ever appeared. You would figure men's club would have etiquette. This course was one and done.
