The Golf Club at The Equinox

Manchester Center, Vermont, USAGreen Mountains

Situated in the scenic foothills of Vermont’s Green Mountains, The Golf Club at The Equinox presents a refined 18-hole course blending natural elevation shifts with strategic design. The layout invites golfers of varying skill levels to engage with its subtle contours, small, tiered greens, and thoughtfully placed bunkers amid tranquil woodland vistas.

Course Overview

The Golf Club at The Equinox offers an 18-hole layout that challenges both strategy and shot-making while rewarding precise execution. Located in Manchester Center, Vermont, this private resort-style course embraces a mountain foothills setting, where rolling fairways weave through mature hardwoods and gently undulating terrain. Players encounter a course that moves with the land rather than against it, highlighting natural contours and elevation changes without overwhelming the pace of play.

The layout provides a balanced test for a wide range of golfers. The greens are relatively small and feature subtle tiers and ridges, demanding an attentive read and an adept putting stroke. Fairways are generous but guarded by carefully positioned bunkers that require thoughtful club selection off the tee. The course’s design emphasizes shot placement and touch, encouraging golfers to carefully navigate angles rather than rely on raw power.

Its setting offers a distinct New England character, where sweeping vistas mingle with the dense foliage that changes dramatically through the seasons. Players will find fresh challenges and visual interest from hole to hole, with smooth transitions amid woodlands and open stretches that respond to gentle mountain breezes. The atmosphere feels both serene and lively, especially during league play or company outings where camaraderie blends with competition.

Amenities complement the golfing experience, with a clubhouse that reflects the resort’s historic roots yet supports modern comfort. While the course avoids overwhelming scale or gimmickry, it carves out a memorable test through deliberate conditioning and design. Walkers will appreciate firm turf and manageable elevation shifts, though those planning to explore should bring appropriate footwear for occasional uneven footing.

Though some guests have noted the absence of a driving range and express concerns about pace management, the course consistently receives praise for its conditioning and stewardship. The staff is attentive, ensuring rounds flow smoothly and players feel welcomed. For those seeking a golf outing within a compelling Vermont landscape, The Golf Club at The Equinox offers a purposeful and immersive experience, balancing challenge and accessibility within a quietly refined environment.

Course Highlights

The course showcases mountain terrain with flowing fairways that follow natural landforms, small greens layered with subtle tiers and ridges, and strategically placed bunkers guarding key landing areas. Its mountain foothill setting provides notable scenic views while maintaining a manageable pace of play focused on precision and shot shaping rather than power.

A Winter Wonderland Retreat at The Equinox Our company trip to The Equinox Golf Resort and Spa this winter was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the cozy charm of this historic and beautiful resort. Setting: The grounds were absolutely stunning in their winter coat, creating a picturesque backdrop for our stay. It was the perfect setting for a team getaway, offering both tranquility and opportunities for connection. Service: The staff at The Equinox went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality truly made us feel valued. Accommodations: While the resort's age is evident, it only adds to its charm. The cozy atmosphere and beautiful details throughout the property created a unique and inviting experience. Overall, our time at The Equinox Golf Resort and Spa was exceptional. It's an ideal destination for anyone seeking a memorable winter retreat, whether for a company gathering or a personal escape.

The course was in good shape but I dont think its worth anywhere near what they charge. 160 for a round with a cart. Carts have no GPS there is no driving range to warm up the club house was out dated and had one old bathroom plus the food was very expensive and the course its self left something to be desired. The condition was good but the course it self was quite borning. I think 12 out of 18 holes were 350-370 yard par 4s with an elevated tee box. Seemed to be a copy and paste. At the end of the day I've played courses much nicer for literally half the price. Save your money and play else where.

Really fun course w incredible views. The greens are challenging, relatively small, w tiers and ridges on most holes. Played solo and came up on some guys getting in 9 before Thursday evening summer league; they asked me to join and couldn’t have been nicer (thanks Pete!).

Great layout. There was constant rain for weeks and course was on great condition. Wonderful staff. Listen to starter about blind shots he was right on.

Do NOT plan an event here. We called 4 months ahead saying we needed 3 tee times for 3 groups of 4 for a tournament we were playing. We also went to the other top course in VT where we had no issues. This was by far the worst experience I have had golfing this year. I am a 10 handicap, so I am not a beginner and understand about keeping pace of play. It started out nice with the people in the club house being very welcoming. But then strange things start happening. They put a pair behind us. The pair complains. The ranger comes to us and tells us to speed up, but we are waiting on every hole on the group in front of us. As a Ranger, when someone complains about pace, you don't just yell at the group in front of them. You drive up to see where there is a gap. And kindly ask THAT GROUP to pick up pace. The bunkers were not well kept. The course layout had maybe 5 holes with character but the rest were mundane layouts. Last but not least, they have a sign on the turn, "if you stop for food we cannot guarantee you can continue playing." I have played all across the world. I have never seen something so short sighted. You are talking people out of buying food at your place, while you are making them feel uncomfortable. The whole experience had very weird vibes. Skip this place.
