Course Overview
Myrtle Beach National offers a comprehensive golf experience across its multiple layouts, with the Kings North course standing out for those seeking a demanding test along the Grand Strand. This 18-hole championship layout contrasts subtle elevation changes with wide fairways, yet players quickly learn that deep bunkers boldly patrol each green complex, requiring both strategic shot placement and precision in approach. The course's condition, praised for its smooth greens and well-manicured fairways even during the cooler months, provides a playing surface suited to both committed low handicaps and enthusiastic mid-level golfers. While the topography remains mostly gentle, occasional undulating contours on the greens introduce subtle breaks that reward careful reads and steady nerves.
Situated in the heart of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the course blends elements of parkland style with a stretch of wetlands that both visually and strategically influence play. Water hazards stand as quiet sentinels behind several holes, occasionally thinning out but still commanding respect for any errant shot. The natural winds of the coastal region can shift pace and trajectory, testing timing and club selection without overpowering less experienced players.
Myrtle Beach National’s clubhouse supports visitors with a welcoming practice facility and dining options that have earned high marks for quality and service. The staff’s attentiveness to pace of play ensures that rounds can be completed comfortably in under four hours, making it an appealing choice for players mindful of time without sacrificing challenge. Essential amenities like beverage cart service add ease to the round, further enhancing comfort.
Guests will find that while the course reveals its teeth in places, the overall design maintains a balance that encourages thoughtful golf rather than punishing mistakes with harsh penalties. This measured difficulty encourages repeat visits and rewards an evolving game. Whether playing the Kings North layout or exploring the other circuits on site, Myrtle Beach National remains a solid destination for players looking to navigate strategically placed hazards amid well-kept terrain, with the coastal breezes shaping an experience distinctly of South Carolina’s celebrated golf scene.

Second time playing Kings North, it’s definitely a challenging course. The course is coming along nicely since the renovation, just be prepared for deep bunkers should your ball go off-line. Conditions were fairly good, just needs more time for some of the new sod to settle. Practice facility and clubhouse food was 10/10, definitely worth a stop for some food.

Played a morning 18 on the West course and then Kings North in the afternoon. All the staff I came across were very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was very good both rounds. Morning only took 2 1/2 hours for 3 of us. Had burger and fries from restaurant. Both were very good. West has some irrigation construction going on. Was some spots in fairways that might’ve been a little thin on grass but overall courses were in really good shape. First time I’ve played in area in February so I don’t know what typical is this time of year. Had a great time!

From start to finish, just a great golf experience! Course was in pretty good shape considering a full day of rain prior to our round, and it being mid-January. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were in beautiful condition considering the time of year. Staff was extremely courteous and professional, and there was even beverage cart service which was a nice surprise given the time of year. Looking forward to going back and playing the other courses there! Thanks for a great time!

Course has the capacity to be a 4-5 star close. Layout is nice. Course does not seem to be maintained though. Fairways are not good at all. All the ponds on the front 9 have literally 6 inches of water in them. Bunkers were basically concrete. A lot of bare patches on the greens. Disappointing especially considering the green fee.

Played South Creek at MBN today. This is a great value for the $$ paid. Greens were in great shape and rolled well. Fairways and bunkers did not drain well with all the rain.
