TPC Myrtle Beach

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, USAGrand Strand

TPC Myrtle Beach presents an 18-hole championship layout where turtleback greens and strategic bunkering create a rewarding challenge. Situated in South Carolina’s golf-rich Grand Strand region, the course balances coastal charm with demanding play for seasoned golfers.

Course Overview

TPC Myrtle Beach offers an 18-hole, championship-caliber golf experience set within the lush landscapes of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Designed in the classic tournament style associated with the TPC network, this course unfolds across gently rolling terrain accented by strategic bunkering and expansive, undulating greens. While it exhibits traits of a parkland layout, the course demands thoughtful shot management and precise execution, appealing mainly to golfers with a degree of skill and experience.

Players will find the course challenging yet fair, with multiple tee boxes that accommodate a range of handicaps. Those choosing the back tees will navigate firm, fast greens and several holes where aggressive play carries both risk and reward. The turtleback greens stand out as a defining feature, testing both approach shots and putting with subtle breaks and speed variations. Alongside these, the fairways often run narrower than expected, penalizing wayward drives and requiring tactical placement.

The scenery complements this sporting test, with mature trees lining holes and natural wetlands shaping several fairway corridors. Water hazards and well-placed bunkers frequently come into play, adding strategic layers to the routing without overwhelming the experience. The course is framed by coastal influences, noticeable in the occasional breeze that can alter club selection and shot shape.

TPC Myrtle Beach operates primarily as a daily fee resort course, welcoming visitors seeking a high-quality golf challenge in the Grand Strand region. The clubhouse facilities provide essential amenities including dining, a pro shop, and rental equipment. Walking is permitted, though much of the course requires use of carts due to its sprawling layout and cart path restrictions.

Due to the course’s popularity and its place within the TPC portfolio, pace of play can vary, particularly during peak seasons or after inclement weather. Golfers planning a visit should book tee times in advance and prepare for conditions that reflect the coastal South Carolina climate, including possible wet areas and firm playing surfaces. TPC Myrtle Beach suits players aiming to test their game on a course that blends competitive elements with natural beauty, all within reach of Myrtle Beach’s extensive golf corridor.

Course Highlights

TPC Myrtle Beach is distinguished by its turtleback green complexes that demand precise putting. The course’s layout features parkland characteristics with strategic bunkering and water hazards that shape risk-reward decisions throughout the round. Coastal winds occasionally influence shot-making, while the mature tree lines frame many holes, combining to present a balanced challenge for mid to low handicappers.

Wow. What a disappointment this place was. Played TPC Myrtle Beach on 5/31/25 and man am I lost for words. Paying $192 to play this course should be considered robbery. $80 course at best. The fact this place uses the name “TPC” to get by with such mediocre conditions is so laughable. The local municipal course in Charleston, SC is a better play than this place. 1. We originally had a 1:12 and 1:21 tee time. (Didn’t actually tee off til 1:50 and 2:00) But they were backed up on the first tee because “maintenance” was cleaning the course up from a storm that went through the area the day before. Mind you this excuse would be great if we had a 8 am tee time but it was a late afternoon tee time and therefore the course had PLENTY of time to catch up with “maintenance” But no the real problem is they over book the golf course and jam tee times in every 9 mins. 2. The real reason we were delayed was because the course ran out of golf carts. We had to wait for carts coming of either 9 or 18……….maybe you shouldn’t over book your golf course. Just saying After hearing we were delayed with the start of our tee time because of carts. I went into the pro shop to tell them I can help you guys out and I will walk this afternoon. The gentleman behind the counter looked at me funny and proceeded to tell me the price of $192 includes the cart for the round and therefore I couldn’t get reimbursed a cart fee even if I did want to walk. Nice! 👍🏼 3. The course was so backed up from start to finish that it took my group 1 hour to play to play 3 holes. Cart path only too of course. 👍🏼 4. For $192 this is the condition of the golf course (please see pictures provided)…………Like I said, the local municipal course in Charleston, SC that I pay $25 to play has better playing conditions. I will never play TPC Myrtle Beach course ever again and I will strongly recommend others to avoid this place as well. Especially since there are so many fantastic golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area. My hope is I can save someone from wasting their hard earned money on a golf course like this. I ended up playing 3 rounds. Tidewater, Grand Dunes, and TPC Myrtle Beach. TPC Myrtle Beach was the most expensive of the 3 courses and by far in the worst condition. 2 thumbs down to this place 👎 👎

Played on March 27th with my father in law. A great atmosphere and hardly any cart path only holes. He was thrilled we played this gorgeous true championship layout which played out to be true but a little wet in some areas and not much roll out. With that said, middle handicappers: set your pride aside and play appropriate tees for pace of play purposes and get those distance balls ready!

Do you like turtles? We'll you'll love the turtleback greens of TPC. Tough course! Greens were firm and fast, and the shapes of the different green complexes can easily lead to challenges holding greens with scoreable putts. Another course where conservative targets can be rewarded, and agressive shots can be mercilessly punished. Scenic course, very pretty, greens were in rough shape as I played recently after qualifier. They were totally fine but definitely had way more ball marks, and dead green spots than I would have expected

WHAT A DISGRACE!! Played on 6/12/25, and was shocked!! I have played at several TPC courses and they all were great and in great condition. This place as a disaster. Tee boxes and fairways were it and miss with grass likely due to burn out and mismanagement. When we provided feedback, we did not get an apology or a possible discount, but rather the same excuse… “we have had a lot of rain”. When I said other area course we played did not have same problem, the said “ well they must have better drainage”. Incredible…. This is supposed to be a TPC course which the brand comes with a premium standard of expected quality that comes with a premium price. The fairways and tee boxes did not meet this premium standard by a LONG SHOT! To be fair, the greens were sold and the bunker were okay (albeit they lacked sand at bottom of most) and the staff was very helpful and friendly otherwise. I would not play this course again until I knew they had properly remedied the issues. If you have a tee time in 2025, I would reconsider.

What a disappointment. The fairways and tee boxes are in terrible shape. Bare spots and mud everywhere. Bunkers are hit or miss. Some are okay, others are rock hard. If you’re in the area, look elsewhere.

Fairways were splotchy, greens were slow. Disappointed for the price paid.

Really Great round of golf here! playing from the whites on this course is significantly easier than playing from the back two sets of t's, which makes this golf course really challenging and one of the hardest in the low country when the grains are rolling fast! number 17 is very similar to Eastlake. absolutely love that! golf hole! The conditions weren't all that great. I think there were some seating problems but it was honestly just more of an aesthetical flow as it did not affect play. I love fazio definitely one of my top five favorite courses in Myrtle
