TPC Myrtle Beach

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, USAGrand Strand

TPC Myrtle Beach offers a championship-caliber 18-hole layout characterized by fast turtleback greens and coastal winds that test precision and strategy. With its firm putting surfaces and strategic bunkering, this course challenges golfers seeking a demanding experience in the heart of South Carolina’s Grand Strand region.

Course Overview

TPC Myrtle Beach, located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, presents an 18-hole championship test that blends coastal links elements with strategic design typical of the Tournament Players Club network. Laid out over a rolling landscape with pockets of wetland areas and shaped by the Atlantic breeze, the course challenges players with firm, fast greens and fairways that demand precise shotmaking. The design encourages a thoughtful approach, rewarding well-placed tee shots and cautious play near the sizeable, often undulating greens. The course measures approximately 7,087 yards from the championship tees, with a par of 72, offering a stern but fair challenge for golfers who appreciate a layout that emphasizes strategy over brute force.

While the terrain reveals subtle elevation changes, much of the layout encourages an aggressive yet calculated style of play that tests a full range of shots. Bunkers rim many of the greens, guarding pin positions and amplifying the risk-reward factor on approach shots. The signature turtleback greens are a distinctive feature, their contours creating complex putting surfaces that demand a delicate touch and cautious read.

TPC Myrtle Beach caters to golfers with low to mid handicaps seeking a demanding course that maintains playability through multiple tee options. The fairway widths provide some margin for error, but the speedy surfaces and strategic hazards ensure that each hole requires full concentration. Guests should prepare for the coastal winds, which can influence shot selection and club choice throughout the round.

Amenities include a large clubhouse facility with dining and pro shop services, designed to support both tournament play and casual rounds. Carts are included in the green fee, reflecting the course’s commitment to maximizing pace of play despite occasional heavy maintenance periods.

For visitors planning their round, walking is possible but strongly advised only for players accustomed to managing varied terrain and some elevation. The course surface can become firm after dry spells, limiting ball roll and requiring precision shots. Early morning tee times can offer calmer winds and softer conditions. TPC Myrtle Beach’s location just off Highway 17 near Murrells Inlet makes it accessible to players exploring the rich golf landscape of the Grand Strand area.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by its turtleback greens, which demand careful approach shots and precise putting. Strategic bunkering protects many greens, while coastal winds add an extra layer of challenge. While some holes pass near wetlands, the overall routing blends coastal links inspiration with firm, dry playing surfaces that emphasize shot control. The layout encourages players to adapt their game strategically, making it a favorite among mid to low handicap golfers.

What a disappointment. The fairways and tee boxes are in terrible shape. Bare spots and mud everywhere. Bunkers are hit or miss. Some are okay, others are rock hard. If you’re in the area, look elsewhere.

Wow. What a disappointment this place was. Played TPC Myrtle Beach on 5/31/25 and man am I lost for words. Paying $192 to play this course should be considered robbery. $80 course at best. The fact this place uses the name “TPC” to get by with such mediocre conditions is so laughable. The local municipal course in Charleston, SC is a better play than this place. 1. We originally had a 1:12 and 1:21 tee time. (Didn’t actually tee off til 1:50 and 2:00) But they were backed up on the first tee because “maintenance” was cleaning the course up from a storm that went through the area the day before. Mind you this excuse would be great if we had a 8 am tee time but it was a late afternoon tee time and therefore the course had PLENTY of time to catch up with “maintenance” But no the real problem is they over book the golf course and jam tee times in every 9 mins. 2. The real reason we were delayed was because the course ran out of golf carts. We had to wait for carts coming of either 9 or 18……….maybe you shouldn’t over book your golf course. Just saying After hearing we were delayed with the start of our tee time because of carts. I went into the pro shop to tell them I can help you guys out and I will walk this afternoon. The gentleman behind the counter looked at me funny and proceeded to tell me the price of $192 includes the cart for the round and therefore I couldn’t get reimbursed a cart fee even if I did want to walk. Nice! 👍🏼 3. The course was so backed up from start to finish that it took my group 1 hour to play to play 3 holes. Cart path only too of course. 👍🏼 4. For $192 this is the condition of the golf course (please see pictures provided)…………Like I said, the local municipal course in Charleston, SC that I pay $25 to play has better playing conditions. I will never play TPC Myrtle Beach course ever again and I will strongly recommend others to avoid this place as well. Especially since there are so many fantastic golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area. My hope is I can save someone from wasting their hard earned money on a golf course like this. I ended up playing 3 rounds. Tidewater, Grand Dunes, and TPC Myrtle Beach. TPC Myrtle Beach was the most expensive of the 3 courses and by far in the worst condition. 2 thumbs down to this place 👎 👎

Do you like turtles? We'll you'll love the turtleback greens of TPC. Tough course! Greens were firm and fast, and the shapes of the different green complexes can easily lead to challenges holding greens with scoreable putts. Another course where conservative targets can be rewarded, and agressive shots can be mercilessly punished. Scenic course, very pretty, greens were in rough shape as I played recently after qualifier. They were totally fine but definitely had way more ball marks, and dead green spots than I would have expected

Played on March 27th with my father in law. A great atmosphere and hardly any cart path only holes. He was thrilled we played this gorgeous true championship layout which played out to be true but a little wet in some areas and not much roll out. With that said, middle handicappers: set your pride aside and play appropriate tees for pace of play purposes and get those distance balls ready!

Really Great round of golf here! playing from the whites on this course is significantly easier than playing from the back two sets of t's, which makes this golf course really challenging and one of the hardest in the low country when the grains are rolling fast! number 17 is very similar to Eastlake. absolutely love that! golf hole! The conditions weren't all that great. I think there were some seating problems but it was honestly just more of an aesthetical flow as it did not affect play. I love fazio definitely one of my top five favorite courses in Myrtle

WHAT A DISGRACE!! Played on 6/12/25, and was shocked!! I have played at several TPC courses and they all were great and in great condition. This place as a disaster. Tee boxes and fairways were it and miss with grass likely due to burn out and mismanagement. When we provided feedback, we did not get an apology or a possible discount, but rather the same excuse… “we have had a lot of rain”. When I said other area course we played did not have same problem, the said “ well they must have better drainage”. Incredible…. This is supposed to be a TPC course which the brand comes with a premium standard of expected quality that comes with a premium price. The fairways and tee boxes did not meet this premium standard by a LONG SHOT! To be fair, the greens were sold and the bunker were okay (albeit they lacked sand at bottom of most) and the staff was very helpful and friendly otherwise. I would not play this course again until I knew they had properly remedied the issues. If you have a tee time in 2025, I would reconsider.
