Snowcreek Golf Course
Snowcreek Golf Course features a compact 9-hole layout set against the Sierra Nevada mountains, combining wide fairways and true-rolling greens. Its accessible design and mountain backdrop make it an appealing choice for players seeking a scenic yet practical mountain golf experience.
Course Overview
Snowcreek Golf Course in Mammoth Lakes, California, offers a distinctive mountain golfing experience with its compact 9-hole layout. The course, designed by Ted Robinson, presents a blend of wide-open fairways and above-average putting surfaces that encourage a confident swing and steady pace. Set in a valley just off Mammoth's bustling resort area, Snowcreek stands apart from its higher-altitude counterpart by trading elevation for accessibility and playability, making it a practical choice for those eager to enjoy golf amid spectacular Sierra Nevada scenery.
As you step onto the first tee, the wind becomes a subtle but persistent partner, especially notable in the opening holes where it challenges club selection and shot control. The fairways are overseeded and generally generous in width, providing golfers across skill levels with plenty of opportunities to find clean lies. The greens roll true and reward precise approach shots, though they rarely offer sanctuary from the wind’s influence.
The course operates primarily as a walking venue, and the terrain’s gentle slopes make it inviting for those who prefer to experience the game on foot. Footwear with good traction is advisable due to occasional wind-driven debris and natural ground textures. While Snowcreek is a 9-hole course, players can extend their round to 18 holes by making a loop through the layout twice, a flexibility welcomed by those seeking an afternoon of sustained play without the commitment of a full-scale course.
Amenities include a practice putting green and access to an off-site driving range, catering to golfers keen to warm up or refine their short game. The clubhouse provides a relaxed atmosphere ideal for post-round conversation and refreshment. Twilight rates after 1 p.m. offer good value for players mindful of budget without compromising the quality of their golf.
Snowcreek’s blend of approachable design, scenic mountain views, and practical playing options creates an inviting environment for both locals and visitors. While conditions vary with the season and weather, the course remains a worthwhile stop for anyone seeking a well-maintained golfing experience in the Mammoth Lakes area.

Nine-hole Golf Course. If you like to walk this is a good golf course to walk. Beautiful mountain background. A little windy due to the fact that it's in the valley. You can double up and play a full 18 round by playing two nine whole rounds.

Love this 9 hole course. There’s a good mix of holes and has a completely different look than the other golf course in Mammoth. Very wide open, with nice overseed fairways makes for good lies all over the course. The greens are above average and roll pretty true. Straight into the wind the first few holes, then all down wind coming back to clubhouse. Driving range(off site) & practice putting green available. Pro Tip: twilight(after 1pm) pricing is very good, it’s pretty pricey at full rate. Discount for replay if you gotta get your 18 holes in.

Fun track with great views, but way overpriced at $70 with cart for early twilight 9 holes. Little to no service at the beginning and end. Empty “pro shop.” Super slow fuzzy greens. The course has potential but needs to step it up or drop the rates.

Nice Ted Robison layout. Value 1-2 stars. At $70 for 9 holes after 1pm last week of season not really worth it for the conditions. Just played a Jack Nicholas signature course for less in Truckee CA also a resort mountain town in mint condition.

Hard to give Snowcreek golf course a good rating when they don't let you play! We pulled up on Monday at 2 pm with beautiful clear skies and was told the last tee time is 12 30 in case the smoke comes in! We had to put all of our equipment away. There was no smoke that day, couldn't have been nicer! They will be closed in a week (for snow???) so maybe they just don't care.
