The Golf Club of Bristol
The Golf Club of Bristol delivers a classic parkland experience with 18 holes that reward strategic play and offer welcoming challenges for golfers of all levels. While facilities are currently limited, the course’s rolling fairways and well-contoured greens provide an engaging round in a quiet, mature setting.
Course Overview
The Golf Club of Bristol in Tennessee presents an 18-hole parkland layout that balances tradition with a straightforward, approachable design. Situated along Old Jonesboro Road, this members-only facility has long served the local golf community with a course that encourages a broad range of players to find their rhythm amidst gently rolling fairways lined with mature trees. The course’s zoysia fairways, while requiring careful shot placement due to occasional thin lies, provide a solid playing surface throughout much of the year. The greens, featuring notable slopes, demand attention to speed and break, rewarding golfers who read each putt with precision. Rather than overwhelming players with excessive length or hazards, Bristol’s layout invites strategy and thoughtful play, making it accessible to intermediate golfers while still presenting subtle challenges to lower handicaps eager to test their short games.
Though the club currently lacks a traditional clubhouse, it compensates with substantial on-site amenities, including a large swimming pool ideal for families and children, alongside a new fitness facility packed with modern equipment. The absence of a pro shop currently means golfers should plan accordingly, as there are no on-site options for purchasing apparel or gear. Walking the course remains pleasant, yet players should be prepared for varied turf conditions and choose footwear suited for both firm and slightly uneven terrain.
Golfers familiar with the club’s history will note the changes over recent years, but those seeking a solid, classic parkland experience can still find satisfaction here. The course’s straightforward routing encourages steady play and offers scoring opportunities that keep rounds engaging and enjoyable. The staff’s welcoming approach adds warmth to visits, underscoring the club’s commitment to its members.
For those planning a visit, it is important to understand this is a members-only club with limited access to outsiders, and arrangements must be made through current membership for tee times or guest play. Overall, The Golf Club of Bristol offers an unpretentious but engaging round where the landscape’s quiet character unfolds with each hole, making it a worthy destination for players looking to reconnect with a course that respects traditional values and practical golf enjoyment.

No clubhouse currently so no shirts, hats or gear available for purchase... Which come on new ownership, get it together!!! Besides that the good course has a great layout, tough sloping greens, bunkers are in good shape and the zoysia fairways for the most part we're perfect but here and there a few thin tight lies.... Huge pool great for the family and kiddos.... The new facility has a huge gym that's loaded with equipment

Grew up playing on the course, and its no where near what it was in the 90s. Also no clubhouse, no real structure. Its too bad, because the Country Club was a great place, with lots of good memories. I live on the course, and never play it anymore.

Pretty good course. However, I would not rate it as a must play. Some challenging holes and some fun to play. The fairways are not plush and the greens were nothing to write home about. This place is nicer than most local courses but definitely not a top tier course.

This course is a sad ghost of what it once was. This was once a magnificent course and now they sell off fairways to build glorified double wides that look like that have 1/2 inch paver bricks glued to them and will fall apart with a strong breeze. It’s a very sad time for this course.
