Foothills Golf Course

Denver, Colorado, USADenver Metro Area

Foothills Golf Course in Denver features three distinct layouts that balance challenge and playability against a backdrop of mountain vistas. Offering an 18-hole championship course alongside executive and par-3 options, it welcomes players of varying experience levels with versatile course designs and modern amenities.

Course Overview

Foothills Golf Course in Denver, Colorado offers a distinctive golfing experience framed by the city’s vibrant landscape and panoramic mountain views. This public facility features three separate courses: an 18-hole championship layout, a shorter executive 9, and a dedicated par-3 course. Each presents unique challenges and varying lengths to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, making it a versatile destination for both casual rounds and more focused practice sessions.

The primary 18-hole course unfolds across gently rolling terrain, blending parkland-style fairways with subtle elevation changes that introduce strategic considerations on approach shots. Wide landing areas invite aggressive play off the tee, while greens are protected by well-placed bunkers and occasional water hazards that demand careful shot selection. This course strikes a balance between challenge and fairness, rewarding precision without alienating higher handicaps.

Playability remains a strong focus here; the layout is approachable yet engaging, encouraging players to think through each hole. The executive 9 offers a brisk option for those short on time or seeking a warm-up, with tighter fairways and shorter distances that sharpen scoring skills. Meanwhile, the par-3 course provides an ideal setting for beginners or those honing their short game, with targets that reinforce accuracy and course management.

Beyond the greens, Foothills Golf Course recently upgraded its clubhouse, providing modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere after rounds. While pace of play can be slow during peak hours, the friendly staff and affordable green fees often draw return visits. Walking the course is encouraged; the terrain is manageable for most fitness levels though appropriate footwear is recommended to navigate some uneven footing.

With stunning mountain backdrops and a varied layout, Foothills Golf Course offers an accessible yet rewarding golf outing in Denver’s growing golf scene. Players venturing here will find courses that test fundamentals and foster enjoyment without unnecessary complexity, making it a solid choice for locals and visitors alike looking to stretch their game amid Colorado’s natural beauty.

Course Highlights

The championship 18-hole course pairs wide fairways with subtle elevation shifts and bunkers that reward thoughtful strategy. Scenic views of Denver’s urban landscape framed by the nearby foothills contribute to a varied visual experience.

The layout isn't terrible, and the new clubhouse is nice. Not really anywhere to leave your bag outside, at least at the front of the building. Food took over an hour when we ordered. Staff was generally pleasant but seemed stressed in the clubhouse. Probably won't return as there are better options in the area. It's not the best, but also not the worst.

Beware of signing up for lessons at this course. They don’t keep records of credit card charges or lesson packages. I bought a package last year. After a series of issues with instructor, I requested a refund of my remaining package. I made the mistake of assuming they would keep track of account. It has been almost a year and the instructor was hard to schedule lessons with. She wouldn’t return calls or texts. My daughter made several attempts to schedule a lesson and the instructor wouldn’t respond. I finally got a lesson scheduled for her and when she showed up the instructor told her she had the time wrong. I had the text messages from the instructor to prove my daughter showed up at right time -the instructor wrote the time wrong. Instructor never bothered calling back again to reschedule lesson. Nobody knows how much I should be refunded. The managers at the course treated me like I was being unreasonable in having the expectation that they track lessons. Neither management nor this instructor have any accountability for the lesson packages. They said I should have been tracking it and I should know all the details? Wow. Just wow! The lack of professionalism and accountability is unfortunate. The instructor blamed a traumatic brain injury jury for her lack of follow through and poor executive functioning skills and when I tried to express sympathy for that but still being frustrated at what had happened the manager dressed me down for bringing up the brain injury. I brought it up because it is what the instructor uses as an excuse for her poor executive functioning skills. I was trying to be sympathetic. They have zero interest in customer service. That was 100% a phone call from the manager where she was antagonistic from the start.

The new club house is very nice. Three courses, a par 3, and executive 9, and a championship 18. Each course has at least a couple holes that make you think. Only issue is tee times are packed pretty tight and pace of play is pretty slow.

Beautiful looking course in great shape. Price was very good and the starters were friendly. Were they lose a star was for pace of play. The front 9 was decent but things really started getting backed up on the back 9. No marshall for all 18 holes. Also the front 9 has no bathrooms which is insane for a golf course. I'd definitely play again as it was a good challenge and a really good but no too tough walk.
