Southbridge Savannah Golf Club
Southbridge Savannah Golf Club presents an accessible 18-hole parkland layout marked by natural hills and strategic bunkering. This public course challenges players with varied lies and elevation changes, backed by essential practice facilities, though recent reports point to putting surface concerns that impact play.
Course Overview
Southbridge Savannah Golf Club offers an 18-hole golf experience set within a sprawling, mature landscape on Savannah’s south side. As a public course, it opens its fairways to a wide range of players seeking a test of skill without high entry barriers. The layout weaves through gently rolling terrain, featuring hills that create varied lies both above and below your feet. This natural undulation demands thoughtful club selection and precise shot execution, especially on approaches and recovery shots.
The course reflects classic parkland design elements, with fairway bunkers strategically placed to challenge tee shots that stray right or left of the landing zones. Scattered shade trees provide intermittent relief from the Georgia sun, and water hazards appear selectively to add visual interest and a strategic element to several key holes. Despite a design that can be forgiving off the tee for beginners, the contours of the greens and bunkers elevate the challenge for mid- and low-handicap golfers.
Southbridge Savannah Golf Club also features a practice range and a short-game area adjacent to the clubhouse, allowing players to warm up or sharpen specific skills before heading out or after finishing a round. These amenities lend themselves to focused practice sessions that can improve scoring potential on course.
While the setting offers an abundance of natural detail, recent feedback from players has noted significant issues with green conditions that affect putting playability and overall enjoyment. This aspect currently tempers the course’s potential but may still appeal to golfers drawn by the layout and affordability.
Visitors should plan accordingly for walking, as the course covers considerable ground with some distance between holes. Good walking shoes are recommended, especially on warmer days. Golf carts are available but paths can be narrow in areas.
Southbridge Savannah Golf Club provides a solid value for golfers in Savannah who appreciate a course with elevation changes and a traditional format. Its public status welcomes players looking for a casual round as well as those seeking a course that demands shotmaking discipline and course management strategy.
Course Highlights
The course’s terrain incorporates natural hills that create uphill and downhill lies uncommon in coastal Georgia. Fairway bunkers are set to punish errant tee shots, while intermittent shade provides comfort on sunny days. The range and short-game practice area adjacent to the clubhouse support game improvement efforts. Water hazards appear on select holes, adding strategic complexity without overwhelming playability.

Absolutely Terrible Experience – Never Again I’ve played on many courses, but the putting green here was by far the worst I’ve ever seen. It was in horrendous condition – uneven, patchy, and completely neglected. It felt more like putting on a bumpy dirt path than a golf green. I don't know if they just stopped maintaining it or if they don't care, but it ruined the entire round. It’s honestly shocking that they charge players full price with greens like this. Completely unacceptable for any course, let alone one that pretends to be professional. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will absolutely never come back. Avoid it unless you want to waste your time and money.

Excited to play this course with my family. At $70 for 18 and this is the best green on the course. What a poor value and major disappointment.U

I booked 18 holes ,but only played 12. The customer service was good enough, but the course itself was unpleasant, and I didn't want to finish the back 9. The greens are very patchy and barely had any grass on them. As you putt, you can see the ball bouncing side to side and up and down. It's nearly impossible to read the green because it was so dark. You can barely distinguish between where the fringe area is supposed to be and the green. Some regular golfers told me that the greens weren't taken care of, and I'd have to agree. The fairways and tee boxes were in better condition but were very dry and had a lot of sand and dirt everywhere. The course is massive, and there's some distance in between each hole as the cart path winds throughout the houses. There is quite a bit of shade as you make your way through the course, and there was a water cooler and cups for golfers to have on 12. They do have a range and putting/chipping area by the clubhouse, and their bucket of balls (one size) only costs $7.50.

Extremely disappointed. Absolutely brutal condition. Fairways and greens have some form of an infestation of weeds. It is nearly impossible to putt- the ball bounced all over the place. Fairways may as well been dirt. The carts would beep if in “off limits” area- but no screen in the cart. As some other people mentioned- the course layout was awesome. Lots of hills creating under and above feet lies- truly a penalty to be on a hillside. Fairway bunkers are very strategically place for errant shots right or left. I paid $64 and change to play. I almost went to the clubhouse and asked for a refund after the front. If you want to play a course in MUCH MUCH better shape in the Savannah area for the EXACT same greens fees- play Crosswinds. We will not be back to Southbridge. And please- the bot that responds reviews- save the “We’re sorry we didn’t live up to your expectations…” because you do not work hard to improve the condition. I suggest selling it to someone who can afford to maintain it. It could be a great course- but it is far from that now.

LISTEN TO THESE OTHER REVIEWS. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought it was just picky people leaving reviews. That’s not the case this course is in BAD SHAPE. It’s not even worth a dollar a hole as it’s impossible to finish a hole. The greens are the furthest thing from “green” you could be 3 feet away on most holes and still not have a good patch of grass to putt on. Something needs to be done quickly to save this course. it would be nice to let customers know it’s in bad shape before they pay to come here without reading reviews.

Fairways are patchy and the greens are Dirt 6/26/25

Called for a tee time and when booked didnt mention the greens are aerated after I already drove 25 min there. Didnt mention the sahara desert on each one of them. And at 50 dollars for the greens fee is absolute trash and robbery. Also got ran off by some scramblers as i was teeing up the first hole and had to start at 10. If this place gave me a free 18 id still pass on it.

The greens are currently being renovated, so they are not in perfect condition. However, the fairways are in good condition.
