River Hills Golf & Country Club presents a meticulously maintained private 18-hole course balancing lush fairways and water-lined challenges. Known for its welcoming staff and strategic layout, it offers an engaging experience suitable for a wide range of golfers seeking a Southern coastal test.

Course Overview

River Hills Golf & Country Club offers an 18-hole championship course that captures the essence of Southern golf with a distinctive blend of challenge and natural beauty. Located in the serene setting of Little River, South Carolina, this private course unfolds over a gently rolling landscape defined by generous fairways, mature trees, and strategically placed water hazards. Its layout strikes a balance between inviting play and tactical demands, appealing to a broad spectrum of players from intermediate golfers to seasoned low handicaps seeking a test of precision.

The course’s design emphasizes thoughtful shot-making. Fairways provide ample landing areas but reward accuracy, while the greens are true and receptive, encouraging confident approaches. Water comes into play prominently throughout the back nine, creating risk-reward moments that influence club selection and course management. The elevation changes are subtle but enough to challenge trajectory control and add interest to each hole’s strategy.

Walking River Hills engages the senses beyond the golf itself. The landscape hums with the rustle of tall pines and the gentle lapping of creek water, which also punctuates several holes with scenic ponds and streams. The course advances a pleasant pace, supported by electric carts that run smoothly on well-maintained paths, and restroom facilities are conveniently situated along the route.

Members and guests can enjoy a clubhouse that mirrors the club’s welcoming spirit, with attentive staff ensuring every visit feels personalized. River Hills maintains a traditional country club atmosphere that is both relaxed and refined, making it a memorable destination for those drawn to classic Southern golf traditions.

For those planning a visit, summer and early fall provide ideal conditions when the course is lush and greens are responsive. Walking is encouraged, with footwear designed for varied terrain recommended. With its thoughtful combination of natural setting and strategic design, River Hills Golf & Country Club invites golfers looking for an enjoyable yet demanding round without sacrificing comfort or service.

Played this course in the afternoon with a group of four. Great welcoming feeling when entering the clubhouse. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the course. The Course was challenging and in excellent shape, tee boxes were excellent and greens were in very good shape, I thought a little slow fairways were great with no bare spots. Course seemed to be very well maintained, carts were electric and in very good condition and ran very smoothly. They had water at several locations around the course and also Restrooms out on the course that were clean and very nice. Had a great experience playing this course and look forward to coming back in the future.

I have been coming to the area for 35 years and now I live here. Driven by the River Hills sign a thousand times and never thought about playing but did so yesterday. What a gem. The staff was friendly and made you feel at home. More of a country club type feel. The course was in good shape and had some challenging holes. Look forward to coming back real soon.

For the price, this place is a steal. Parts of this course are pretty straightforward, where other parts are very unique and challenging. The only thing that stopped this from being 5 stars was the condition of the greens. It seemed like they hadn't been mowed in a while. Very soft. Didn't roll much and had a lot of stuff marks. Other than that, a great course!

Awesome golf course. Not easy to play. On the back nine there is a lot of water. But great layout. We had a lot of fun, playing this course on a tournament. Greens are great and fast. Fairway’s in good condition. Overall, great course to play! Everything on the tournament was good organized and staff is friendly and helpful.
