Marine Drive Golf Club

Vancouver, British Columbia, CanadaCoastal British Columbia

Marine Drive Golf Club offers a carefully maintained 18-hole parkland layout alongside Vancouver’s Fraser River. This private course balances strategic challenge with playability, featuring smooth greens and scenic river views that enrich every round.

Course Overview

Marine Drive Golf Club, located along Vancouver’s scenic Fraser River, invites golfers into an 18-hole experience where natural contours shape both challenge and playability. This private course, though exclusive in membership, offers a layout that balances strategic options with inviting shot-making for a broad range of skill levels. The parkland setting blends mature trees with open fairways, occasionally punctuated by water hazards that demand thoughtful club selection and course management.

Each hole plays through gently rolling terrain, framed by the river's proximity, which can influence play under shifting winds. The greens are praised for their smoothness and responsiveness, encouraging precise putting while rewarding careful approach shots. Though the course is challenging enough to test low handicaps, it remains approachable, with multiple tee boxes that allow less experienced players to enjoy a full round without undue frustration.

Beyond the course itself, the club’s facilities enhance the overall visit. The clubhouse stands ready with well-appointed amenities including a dining room that offers river views, making it a perfect spot to unwind post-round. The attentive staff provide a welcoming atmosphere that complements the polished condition of the fairways and greens year-round.

Walking the course is a favored option among members, with paths and terrain that are manageable with comfortable footwear; however, golf carts are also available. Players should be prepared for occasional breezes coming off the Fraser River, which inject a subtle test into the rhythm of each swing.

Marine Drive’s thoughtful routing and classic design make it a distinguished venue within Vancouver’s golf landscape. While access to the course remains reserved for members and their guests, Marine Drive exemplifies a private club environment where tradition meets natural beauty, delivering a rewarding golf experience in British Columbia’s coastal region.

We DO NOT recommend this place at all. Been trying to book an event here for November, started inquiries in January 2024. At first they were accommodating but the inquiries stretched on until April because either the event manager, Fani T. was always away or they just didn’t like that we had a lot of questions due to we just want everything to run smooth during the event. It takes forever for them to reply to an email until all of a sudden they just stop responding at all. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. It seems like they didn’t want us to book their place for our event. It’s a shame they loss business but we were glad we didn’t bother pushing thru with them. We have found a very accommodating venue at Hilton Hotel instead.

Marine Drive Golf Club is truly one of the best golf experiences in Vancouver. The course is in immaculate condition year-round, offering a perfect balance of challenge and playability for golfers of all skill levels. The greens are fast and true, the fairways are beautifully maintained, and the overall course layout is both scenic and strategic. Beyond the golf, the clubhouse and facilities are top-notch. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel special. The dining options are excellent, with great food and stunning views to match. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a premium club experience, Marine Drive sets the standard. Highly recommend!

This golf course is the only one of the nearby golf courses around the Fraser River to deny public access to the Fraser River Trail - a multi-use pathway that has been approved by the city for decades. Not only have they denied access, but they have restricted existing access by installing fences blocking the use of an existing trail. If not for this place, we could have a riverfront trail from Musqueam to the Arbutus Greenway and Kent Bikeway in compliance with the Explore the Fraser project. This is a trail that should be accessible to equestrian activities, cycling, and walking. Take cue from the McCleery, Point Grey and Musqueam courses and restore access to the trail.

This is a private golf course along the freezer river nestled between Mcleery Golf course which is a municipal golf course and Point Grey Golf & Country Club, which is another private golf course. Marine Drive golf course is smaller, but still full length. It’s very compact with some overlapping holes with tea boxes. There’s fairly good protections while awaiting on the tea box, but somehow I felt rather exposed on several different fronts when standing waiting to tee off. Because it’s so compact the holes are very closely placed together and again Erin shots have to be watched out for that most holes. Because it’s compact and relatively short, the difficulty is increased by having fewer direct lines of site to the green or straight fairways and rather a lot of dog legs left and right as as well as hidden greens or strategically located trees that block for access to the pin. Bun replacement is strategic as well. There is elevated lies. The place office is well manicured there is it approximately 15 station driving range into a large net as well as an extensive practice for putting in shipping. The club is itself as well appointed with a large pro shop and with all the stockings and a restaurant above. The parking lot is long, but Quite full when I was there and I’m not sure where else you would park if the parking lot is full. Overall had a great experience, golfing this golf course due to the challenging nature of its layout. When golfing the holes along the freezer, River, there’s great views of the river. It’s soft for the traffic up and down and looking across to Richmond side. Overall wonderful course to be had in the city and hope you can find a member that you can take on to play with.
