Verona, Wisconsin, USACentral Wisconsin

Pioneer Pointe Golf Course in Verona, WI offers a unique, flexible 13-hole layout where players choose their own tee spots on well-maintained fairways and challenging greens. This modern course balances enjoyable playability with tactical depth, making it a compelling stop for golfers of all skill levels.

Course Overview

Pioneer Pointe Golf Course offers a fresh and distinctive approach to the game in Verona, Wisconsin. This innovative 13-hole layout breaks from traditional formats, inviting golfers to customize their experience by selecting from multiple teeing areas on nearly every hole. The design encourages players to choose their own challenges, whether looking to fine-tune a particular shot or test a full range of clubs. At just under two and a half hours for a round, Pioneer Pointe fits perfectly into busy schedules without sacrificing quality or variety.

Set on the grounds of the former Tumbledown Golf Course, Pioneer Pointe carries forward echoes of its predecessor while asserting its own personality with meticulously maintained fairways and large, undulating greens. The putting surfaces demand careful reading and precision, featuring unique elements such as bunkers that frame the green with unusual shapes and even islands in the sand, requiring thoughtful approach shots and sharp short-game skills. This gives the course a championship feel despite its shorter hole count and executive-style length range.

The course’s design suits a broad spectrum of players from novices eager to work on specific yardages to experienced golfers interested in testing their irons and wedges against varied lies. The ability to tee off from anywhere on the fairway-like areas offers the chance to manage risk and reward on the fly, adding a tactical layer to the round rarely found on such a compact course.

Currently still growing into its full potential, the course’s clubhouse and cart barn are under development, with the promise of enhanced facilities on the horizon. In the meantime, players can enjoy the pristine conditions of the greens and fairways, supported by courteous service and a friendly, approachable atmosphere. For those who favor walking, sturdy shoes are recommended given some spread-out holes, but carts are available and often encouraged.

Pioneer Pointe blends adaptability, modern design, and superb greens maintenance into a compelling destination for anyone seeking an efficient but engaging golf experience in Central Wisconsin.

Course Highlights

Despite its compact 13-hole design, the course offers yardages ranging from short 100-yard pitches to longer shots over 250 yards, providing a versatile experience. Its connection to the historic Tumbledown Golf Course lends a subtle legacy to the modern layout, blending tradition with innovation.

Pioneer Point GC feels like the future of golf! Located at the site of the former Tumbledown GC, this newly created 13-hole course it's easy access and wonderful! The course condition is exceptional, and the secret sauce is 1) only 13 holes reduces play time to 2.5 gl hours per round. Unique to pioneer Point is the "make your own adventure" style of layout where players get to choose their own tee location

First time visiting this really nice, 13 hole course. The course was in fantastic condition. If you want to work on your iron & short game, this is the place to do it. The greens are large, tough, but fantastic. I suggest getting a cart as there are a few holes that are far apart. golf + Cart pp was only $32

Really enjoyed this new course. Still in growing mode, but greens are so pure and lots of undulations. Slightly over priced but quality is there. A great way to practice a certain yardage as you decide where to tee off. Could play with one wedge and putter. Biarritz green hole is large and fun. Can play in about 2 hours. Lion's Mouth bunker is fun too. Super fun.

Staff was very friendly and course was well maintained. Perfect to get a quick round in during the morning. No tee boxes, so you can play through distance you want.

10/10 would recommend! My dad and I came here for the first time today and really enjoyed the course. I am a 11 handicap while my dad is in the 20-25 range. The course challenged us equally with having some holes around 100-110 range and others around 170-220. No hole felt the same. I really enjoyed that this course was 13 holes. It was the first time I have golfed somewhere where I didn’t play 9 or 18. While I can definitely golf all day, 13 felt perfect for an after work outing. Being so new, the clubhouse and cart barn area were still being built. This led to a tricky parking lot and having to walker farther to get to the start of the course. I am sure this will be changed once the construction is completed, but something to note. The greens were impeccable. No ball marks could be found anywhere and the cups were freshly cut. The roll was true and the green speed was fairly slow. The unique thing about this course is their “non- tee box” setup. The score card has one yardage on it, but there are multiple areas to hit from, all like your hitting off of a freshly cut fairway. It is great as if you do not like a certain yardage, you can move up or back to something better for you. Same goes for if you want to challenge yourself! The price is a little step for a executive style course like this one. I believe 13 holes with a cart was $43 a person. However, the service and quality of the course made up for it. Shown in one of the pictures, they gave use each 3 complimentary tees, a souvenir ball, and a bottle of water. All in all, I really like this course and plan to come back often!

I was torn on where to finish rating for a course up and coming yet and in a neighborhood still developing. For those local aged golfers, I love that the historic tumbledown trails sign was still up and you could tell still playingsome of the original hole remnants. Downside....I thought the green fees were high for a "short" course, not nice electric carts, still growing in from opening last year, and rough in spots. I personally would've rather had tee markers but the constant visitor I could see benefits of teeing where ever to try to change it up. The brand new clubhouse isn't going to open for about another month or 2. The greens. Omg those made it. You can tell they put a lot of effort into those making the putting difficult. This one in the pic was unique with rough island in the greenside bunker and another bunker in the middle of the green. You also can't beat a short course like this having a 250+ hole to play your longer shots on. This course definitely tested the many variations of your golf game.

We went with a small group for our friend’s 30th birthday. Checked in and they set us all up with carts and told us we were good to go, but half way through, they broke us up into two groups because suddenly their policy changed. Then, the golf pro followed us around on his cart for the remainder of our time there. Very unprofessional and rude behavior.

Unique 13 hole course. The course is fun and wonderful and meant to help you progress in your short game. The course does not have any signage on the street or their parking lot. I get it. They don't need big signs; they want you to find it. The restaurant and bar was a nice hangout.

If I wanted to walk, I'd walk. I rent a cart because I can't walk very far and the cart-path-only protocol is not friendly to older people (like me). It would be easier to walk pushing my bag in a hand cart, but distance "green to tee" makes it unattractive to walk, period. I really don't understand why an executive course would have a policy like that--all the holes are short and most golfers can hit the greens inside of 150 yards. We played half-a-dozen similar courses in Florida last winter, without cart restrictions anywhere. Not only that, but the thick fescue between the cart path and fairway almost caused me to face plant onto the cart path as I was walking downhill, with a hand full of clubs. The course is nice, I'll give it that.
