Ted Rhodes Golf Course
Ted Rhodes Golf Course in Nashville presents an 18-hole public layout that balances approachable parkland golf with moments of challenge along a floodplain-influenced back nine. This municipal gem invites players to enjoy a walkable, urban course that blends natural terrain with practical playability.
Course Overview
Ted Rhodes Golf Course, located at 1901 Ed Temple Blvd in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, offers an 18-hole municipal layout deeply rooted in community golf traditions. As one of the city’s public golfing options, this course draws players seeking an accessible and challenging experience without the premium price tag. The design follows a classic parkland style, integrating tree-lined fairways with pockets of native foliage, shaping a landscape that reflects the urban environment while providing moments of quiet focus.
The front nine presents a firm, playable setup, where well-placed bunkers and moderate elevation changes encourage thoughtful strategy. Players will find it suitable for a variety of skill levels, though the back nine shifts toward a more demanding terrain. Here, golfers must negotiate a stretch adjacent to floodplain areas that can impact course conditions after rain, leading to softer fairways and occasional muddy lies. This transition tests commitment and adaptability, especially for those aiming to maintain a steady rhythm throughout 18 holes.
Ted Rhodes does not currently offer a driving range or club rentals, which highlights the importance of arriving prepared with equipment and warm-up plans. The clubhouse facilities focus on straightforward convenience, serving as a central meeting point rather than a full-service resort. As a public course, it encourages walking to fully engage with the layout, though carts are available by request. Players should bring appropriate walking shoes and be ready for a modest hill at times, especially during warmer months.
Despite some maintenance challenges, the course preserves a welcoming spirit through its manageable length and open tee times. The staff’s rapport with visitors varies, suggesting potential room for improved hospitality that could enrich the overall experience.
Whether you are a local player sharpening your short game or a visitor eager to explore Nashville’s golf scene without venturing far from downtown, Ted Rhodes Golf Course offers a walkable, genuine slice of urban golf. Planning ahead—particularly regarding gear and expectations—will help maximize enjoyment at this course known for its historic name and community presence.
Course Highlights
Ted Rhodes features a traditional parkland design with tree-lined fairways and subtle elevation changes. The back nine borders a floodplain area, creating variable playing conditions and demanding shot selection. The course’s approachable length and accessible public status make it a practical choice for city golfers seeking variety near downtown Nashville.

Pretty and tough course, but your green fees are unnoticed in the quality of the holes. Sand traps are either watering holes or dry and hard. Ben was very rude to my group for showing up on time, and he was badgering us to tee off with another group in the fairway.

First the staff. Awful customer service. They scuff and shake their head when you approach them asking if they accept walk ins. Always have an attitude for no reason. Why do you do this job if you hate it? Folks just wanting to have a good time and the staff just makes everyone miserable. The course has potential. But only the front 9. They raised prices across metro, but this one needs TLC.

Awful course. Just a waste of $55. The back 9 is a flood plain. It hasn’t rained in a week but you’re hitting off mud and dirt on the back 9 every time. What a joke. They also don’t have range balls. What course doesn’t have range balls? You have to hit your own balls. This place sucks big time. Stay away from this place.

Pretty standard Muny course. Careful at the desk, though. Everything rang up more than they said it would cost, and they acted like it was no problem. The golf was quoted at 15 bucks a piece for me and friend, and somehow it ended up 54 total. Then I bought four sleeves of balls quoted at 2 dollars a piece and it came in at 24 dollars, and dude acted like nothing was wrong. Small extra costs, but just annoying. If I didn't care about money I'd go play a nice course. Course was in decent shape, though. Greens pretty nice for a cheap-o Muny in a not-so-great neighborhood.

Disappointing and inconsistent experience with staff. I called ahead to book a tee time and specifically asked if they offered club rentals. One staff member said yes, another said no, and the website also states that rentals are available—so it’s unclear what’s actually true. When I asked for clarification, the person who said no gave no explanation at all—just a flat “we don’t offer rentals.” Very unprofessional and confusing. Would not recommend based on this poor communication and lack of helpfulness.

Mike was not nice to female golfers, we came here for a work outing and he came to our hole multiple times telling us to hurry up before other guest got there in 2 hours... He seemed to only say something to the female golfers becasue he claimed it would take us 7 hours to finish the course. Everyone else working was friendly but it seemed like we were being targeted becase we were an all female group.
