Ted Rhodes Golf Course

Nashville, Tennessee, USACentral Tennessee

Ted Rhodes Golf Course delivers an approachable, city-side 18-hole test blending parkland charm with urban challenges. With a par 72 layout featuring a traditional front nine and a floodplain-influenced back nine, it welcomes golfers of varying skill levels seeking an authentic Nashville golf experience.

Course Overview

Located along the edge of Nashville’s urban landscape, Ted Rhodes Golf Course offers a classic municipal 18-hole test with deep roots in the city's golf history. This public course presents a blend of parkland and urban features, where mature trees line several fairways and open spaces give way to water hazards and occasional elevation changes. While the course’s condition reflects the challenges of a busy city facility, it remains a place where players of all levels can engage with the game in an accessible setting.

The layout spans just over 6,000 yards from the championship tees with a par of 72. The first nine holes offer more traditional parkland characteristics, including well-defined fairways and smaller, more strategic bunkers that require thoughtful shot placement. The back nine shifts noticeably, moving into a floodplain area where seasonal weather can influence playability. The terrain there incorporates water hazards and softer turf, requiring precision and patience, especially during wet months.

Ted Rhodes Golf Course is designed to welcome both newcomers and experienced players looking for a practical round near downtown Nashville. The course provides a straightforward challenge without overwhelming complexity, though the conditions on the back nine demand careful approach shots and sound decision-making. Those visiting should approach the layout expecting a public course handling the demands of high traffic, with the pace sometimes influenced by player volume and course maintenance.

The clubhouse offers basic amenities typical of municipal settings, focusing on functionality rather than luxury. Due to the public nature and location, golfers should plan accordingly with durable shoes suited for softer turf, especially in wetter seasons. Walking is permitted, though a golf cart might ease navigation on the back nine’s more open and sometimes softer ground.

Overall, Ted Rhodes Golf Course speaks to the spirit of accessible golf in the heart of Nashville. It rewards thoughtful play, offers an authentic urban experience, and serves as a proving ground for those wanting to sharpen skills without leaving the city’s core.

First the staff. Awful customer service. They scuff and shake their head when you approach them asking if they accept walk ins. Always have an attitude for no reason. Why do you do this job if you hate it? Folks just wanting to have a good time and the staff just makes everyone miserable. The course has potential. But only the front 9. They raised prices across metro, but this one needs TLC.

Pretty and tough course, but your green fees are unnoticed in the quality of the holes. Sand traps are either watering holes or dry and hard. Ben was very rude to my group for showing up on time, and he was badgering us to tee off with another group in the fairway.

Disappointing and inconsistent experience with staff. I called ahead to book a tee time and specifically asked if they offered club rentals. One staff member said yes, another said no, and the website also states that rentals are available—so it’s unclear what’s actually true. When I asked for clarification, the person who said no gave no explanation at all—just a flat “we don’t offer rentals.” Very unprofessional and confusing. Would not recommend based on this poor communication and lack of helpfulness.

Mike was not nice to female golfers, we came here for a work outing and he came to our hole multiple times telling us to hurry up before other guest got there in 2 hours... He seemed to only say something to the female golfers becasue he claimed it would take us 7 hours to finish the course. Everyone else working was friendly but it seemed like we were being targeted becase we were an all female group.

Awful course. Just a waste of $55. The back 9 is a flood plain. It hasn’t rained in a week but you’re hitting off mud and dirt on the back 9 every time. What a joke. They also don’t have range balls. What course doesn’t have range balls? You have to hit your own balls. This place sucks big time. Stay away from this place.

Pretty standard Muny course. Careful at the desk, though. Everything rang up more than they said it would cost, and they acted like it was no problem. The golf was quoted at 15 bucks a piece for me and friend, and somehow it ended up 54 total. Then I bought four sleeves of balls quoted at 2 dollars a piece and it came in at 24 dollars, and dude acted like nothing was wrong. Small extra costs, but just annoying. If I didn't care about money I'd go play a nice course. Course was in decent shape, though. Greens pretty nice for a cheap-o Muny in a not-so-great neighborhood.
