McCabe Golf Course

Nashville, Tennessee, USACentral Tennessee

McCabe Golf Course in Nashville features three diverse 9-hole loops that deliver a parkland-style challenge with mature trees, accessible fairways, and finely maintained greens. Ideal for golfers of all levels, this public course blends convenience with variety and solid playability in an urban setting.

Course Overview

McCabe Golf Course offers a compelling experience for golfers seeking a public venue with variety and challenge within Nashville’s bounds. Comprised of three distinct 9-hole courses, McCabe presents 27 holes of golf set against a primarily parkland layout. The landscape features mature trees framing wide fairways, occasional water hazards, and greens that demand precision. Each 9-hole loop offers its own character, inviting players to test different aspects of their game during a single visit or across multiple rounds.

This course's approachable design accommodates a broad spectrum of skill levels. The fairways generally offer generous landing areas, while the greens introduce complexity with their subtle breaks and varied slopes. The turf conditions reflect attentive maintenance, particularly on the greens, which remain lively even after rainfall. Several golfers have noted the course's firm but forgiving surfaces, and the well-kept tee boxes contribute to consistent playability.

McCabe’s environment thrives on its urban setting, allowing quick access without sacrificing a sense of retreat. Mature hardwoods and smaller water features enhance the setting without overwhelming the layout, creating holes that feel enclosed but never claustrophobic. The varied routing and hole lengths keep rounds engaging, with certain holes calling for strategic shot placement to avoid trouble.

Visitors appreciate the straightforward, welcoming nature of McCabe. Staff members are frequently mentioned for their helpfulness, making tee time arrangements and equipment rentals smooth processes. While carts are available, walking remains popular and manageable here, with relatively gentle terrain and clear paths. Players should note that the clubhouse and cart rental facilities close by early evening, particularly in cooler months, so planning tee times accordingly ensures full access to amenities.

Whether stepping onto McCabe’s tees for a casual nine or a full round, the course presents an inviting challenge without intimidation. Its mixed 27-hole design and reliable maintenance set it apart as a solid choice among Nashville’s public golf offerings. For those seeking accessible golf with variety and a friendly local atmosphere, McCabe delivers consistently satisfying rounds year-round.

Course Highlights

Great track and lovely people working there. Be careful if you need to rent clubs or want to ride as everything has to be back in the clubhouse by 6pm. Got a few holes in but loved it nonetheless.

One of the best public courses in Nashville behind Harpeth Hills. Staff is friendly and helpful and the course has its challenges but is pretty straight forward. Shot a 41 on a 9-hole when I played last. Local tip: if you show up after clubhouse is closed you can walk onto the course and play a few holes. I asked the cart guy that was still around before I did so, and he was chill.

Played the middle 9 at McCabe today. Walked right in and got a tee time. The staff was excellent, and made it very easy. The course was wet with all the rain we have had, but even then, in very very good condition. The grounds crew was actually out fertilizing greensides as I played through. A coupe of the tee boxes had a little ground in repair, but they have plenty of nice grass where the tees are. The greens are solid, aerated, and a little slow today with the rain but very challenging with the angulation the have. Look forward to going back when I have a chance and checking out the other two 9 hole tracks.

As far as public courses go, this is one of my favorites in Nashville. The greens are pretty great and there’s multiple courses to play. The only issue is that it is first come, first serve and during the weekends with warmer weather it gets very crowded.

Is there some reason why the course closes earlier than it says it will? Google says it’s open til 7pm, imaps says 6:30 pm and the website it says from Feb 1st to daylight savings it’s open til dark. Well I’m here on 3/08 at 4:55 pm, sunlight is out but the course and range are closed. If you close at this time fine about at least let us know so we don’t waist our time coming down here unless it’s the employees who are closing earlier then they’re suppose to. Third time this has happened

The worst golf experience in my life and I have played around the world. We had two back to back tee times. We had 4 people show up for the first tee time and only one person show for the 2nd tee time behind us. We decided to play together but play best ball just to speed up play. at about our 5th hole the Marshall showed up to speak to what appeared to be his "buddy" playing behind us. The buddy/ Karen was concerned we were playing five and wanted to use whatever status he had to flex. The marshall then comes and approaches us with less than perfect customer service skills in which things escalated quickly...In summary this Marshall should not be speaking to anyone especially when wives are present. To a point he tried to say one of us would have to sit out and not play. We simply refused stating we all paid and had 2 tee times. Eventually the marshal leaves and out of courtesy we allow the "Karen" and his group to play through just to learn they were also playing with 5 but Karen was walking...The karen then proceeds to correct us as we let them play through. I guess special privileges to regulars and their friends running the course. A thank you is in order for showing us what Metro has to offer in my one and will be my only time playing one. The lack of professional speaking skills of the Marshall is a liability issue for metro.
