McCabe Golf Course
McCabe Golf Course presents a versatile public layout with three 9-hole parkland courses, blending accessible fairways and nuanced greens that test putting skills. Located near downtown Nashville, it offers a welcoming environment suited to both newcomers and experienced golfers.
Course Overview
McCabe Golf Course stands as a quietly ambitious public golfing destination just east of downtown Nashville. This facility features three distinct 9-hole courses that offer flexibility and variety, allowing players to tailor round lengths or combine layouts to form a full 18 holes. The course design embraces a parkland style with subtle elevation changes, mature trees lining many fairways, and greens shaped with visible undulations that demand strategic putting. The setting is both inviting and practical, making it accessible for beginners yet engaging enough to hold the interest of low to mid-handicap players.
Players who arrive at McCabe will find a course that manages to balance approachability with challenge. The fairways provide a generous margin for error, but precision is rewarded on the greens, where subtle breaks require attentive reading. The middle nine, in particular, showcases more movement in both elevation and green contours, adding a layer of interest to each hole without overwhelming the visitor. The condition of the course reflects ongoing care, even after heavy rains, with staff frequently addressing tee boxes and turf management in view of golfers.
McCabe’s atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, reflecting its public status and focus on community play. The clubhouse serves as a straightforward hub for check-in and equipment rental, with courteous staff who assist in creating an enjoyable experience. Walking the course is common and encouraged, as the terrain is mostly gentle and firm underfoot, though careful footwear is advised due to seasonal wetness.
For those planning a visit, it is wise to arrive early to secure a tee time, especially on weekends when the course draws local crowds. While carts are available, many prefer to walk given the compact layout and modest elevation changes. Rentals are offered but must be returned by early evening. Overall, McCabe Golf Course offers a solid, well-maintained golfing experience where players of varying skills can enjoy a relaxed yet thoughtfully designed public course just minutes from Nashville’s urban core.
Course Highlights
Comprising three separate 9-hole courses, McCabe offers varied challenges across its parkland layout. Greens display notable undulation that rewards careful putting, while mature trees create natural framing without overly penalizing errant shots. The middle nine is often highlighted for its thoughtful elevation changes. The staff’s ongoing maintenance preserves solid playing conditions even after periods of rain, and the approachable design ensures an enjoyable experience for a wide range of golfers.

Played the middle 9 at McCabe today. Walked right in and got a tee time. The staff was excellent, and made it very easy. The course was wet with all the rain we have had, but even then, in very very good condition. The grounds crew was actually out fertilizing greensides as I played through. A coupe of the tee boxes had a little ground in repair, but they have plenty of nice grass where the tees are. The greens are solid, aerated, and a little slow today with the rain but very challenging with the angulation the have. Look forward to going back when I have a chance and checking out the other two 9 hole tracks.

Great track and lovely people working there. Be careful if you need to rent clubs or want to ride as everything has to be back in the clubhouse by 6pm. Got a few holes in but loved it nonetheless.

As far as public courses go, this is one of my favorites in Nashville. The greens are pretty great and there’s multiple courses to play. The only issue is that it is first come, first serve and during the weekends with warmer weather it gets very crowded.

One of the best public courses in Nashville behind Harpeth Hills. Staff is friendly and helpful and the course has its challenges but is pretty straight forward. Shot a 41 on a 9-hole when I played last. Local tip: if you show up after clubhouse is closed you can walk onto the course and play a few holes. I asked the cart guy that was still around before I did so, and he was chill.

Is there some reason why the course closes earlier than it says it will? Google says it’s open til 7pm, imaps says 6:30 pm and the website it says from Feb 1st to daylight savings it’s open til dark. Well I’m here on 3/08 at 4:55 pm, sunlight is out but the course and range are closed. If you close at this time fine about at least let us know so we don’t waist our time coming down here unless it’s the employees who are closing earlier then they’re suppose to. Third time this has happened

The worst golf experience in my life and I have played around the world. We had two back to back tee times. We had 4 people show up for the first tee time and only one person show for the 2nd tee time behind us. We decided to play together but play best ball just to speed up play. at about our 5th hole the Marshall showed up to speak to what appeared to be his "buddy" playing behind us. The buddy/ Karen was concerned we were playing five and wanted to use whatever status he had to flex. The marshall then comes and approaches us with less than perfect customer service skills in which things escalated quickly...In summary this Marshall should not be speaking to anyone especially when wives are present. To a point he tried to say one of us would have to sit out and not play. We simply refused stating we all paid and had 2 tee times. Eventually the marshal leaves and out of courtesy we allow the "Karen" and his group to play through just to learn they were also playing with 5 but Karen was walking...The karen then proceeds to correct us as we let them play through. I guess special privileges to regulars and their friends running the course. A thank you is in order for showing us what Metro has to offer in my one and will be my only time playing one. The lack of professional speaking skills of the Marshall is a liability issue for metro.
