Course Overview

Situated in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, Clinton Country Club is a classic 18-hole layout that carries the charm of a traditional country club experience paired with the honest challenges of a course shaped by time and natural elements. The course unfolds across gently rolling terrain, offering a parkland style layout where tree-lined fairways and varying elevation changes encourage strategic shot-making over raw power. Players encounter a blend of short par-3 closing holes that demand precision and longer par-5s that reward thoughtful course management.

The setting reflects a local golf club atmosphere where the landscape shows its age but retains a quiet appeal for golfers who appreciate straightforward challenge over manicured perfection. Though maintenance has become a concern with uneven fairway cuts and bunkers that often run low on sand, the course’s underlying design still presents a test for players across a range of skill levels. Golf carts are available, aiding players who prefer a lighter walk. The proximity to Mill Hall means players can enjoy a quiet rural setting without feeling far removed from local conveniences.

While Clinton Country Club may not match pristine resort conditions, it rewards players willing to engage with its honest design and simpler surroundings. Course has seen much better days. It appears as though there mowers are broken because the "fairways" are more like first cut anywhere else. The rough would be considered long for U.S. Open standards. The greens are slow, bunkers low on sand. There is debris all over the place as you can see with the picture of the fallen tree beside the green with stacked firewood next to it. This type of stuff is prevalent all over the course. Now the layout, both par 5s on the back 9 require you to tee off with less than driver if you hit the ball farther than about 250. Tee boxes are crowned on numerous holes. The closing holes on both 9s are par 3s that are 130 and 90 yds around an interchange of crossing carts. The driving range has a sign stating that you can't hit any clubs longer than 220 yds. The $6 bucket of balls that you get has about 30 balls that look like they were purchased sometime around the turn of the century. There is one target on the range at about 70 yds. On a positive note, the tee box at the range is grass. I paid $23 for the round with cart and felt like I paid too much! Needless to say, I won't come back.

The course has a nice layout except for the finishing hole 18, 70 yard par three that has less charm than a local pitch and putt. That being said... the course is in horrible condition! Clover and crabgrass everywhere, burned out fairways and poorly maintained bunkers that have rocks and little sand. They charged 50 dollars... I don’t know how any self respecting USGA course could in good conscience charge more than 30 at MOST for the conditions of this poorly maintained course! Looking at other reviews, it looks like the food must be good there. I only had the Hot dog at the turn. The staff however is very friendly. I’m sure it makes a good local college town sports bar. Might be the only way the course makes its money anymore. I can’t see how anyone would waste their money becoming a member at such a SUB PAR course. Again great layout and challenging greens, which by the way were the only nice things on the course. They must be ready to close the doors... it’s that bad. Please somebody buy the course that can save a nice course and bring it back to playable conditions.

This is a hidden gem in Mill Hall! The food is excellent. The burgers are HUGE, as is the peanut butter pie (the Graham cracker crust is at least half an inch thick and delicious). The menu selection is varied, so there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is a bit like a sports bar, but there's a dining room away from the bar for a quieter atmosphere. Overall, we really enjoy dining here.

We had a family reunion here. We like the warm feeling and location of this place. I understand that they are going to tear it down but I hope they keep the charm and warmth of this place. The food we had was very good.
