Belles Springs Golf Course

Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, USACentral Pennsylvania

Belles Springs Golf Course delivers an inviting 18-hole parkland experience defined by rolling terrain and accessible design. With demanding par-5s and consistently maintained conditions, it offers a balanced test suitable for golfers across all skill levels amid a serene rural setting.

Course Overview

Belles Springs Golf Course in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, offers a captivating 18-hole layout that balances scenic charm with practical playability. This public course stretches across gently rolling terrain, punctuated by distinct elevation changes that shape both its fairways and greens. The architecture leans toward a classic parkland style, presenting broad fairways lined by mature trees and tucked into a lush, rural landscape where Amish farms quietly form the backdrop. It is a course that invites golfers to engage strategy without overwhelming them with hazard after hazard, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of skill levels.

The course shines with an approachable design, where generous senior tees make the game accessible for high-handicap players, while the longer white tees offer a respectable challenge to more experienced golfers. Two demanding par-5s stand out on the scorecard: a 608-yard monster on the front nine and another stretched beyond 540 yards on the back nine. These holes test driving accuracy and thoughtful course management, especially given subtle undulations and well-maintained greens that reward precision.

During a round here, players will find ample shade and inviting resting spots, a welcome relief during warmer days. The consistent condition of greens and fairways also enhances the overall experience. For those seeking a break, a modest snack shop and bar adjacent to the clubhouse provide simple, no-fuss refreshment, while locker room facilities allow for a comfortable finish after play.

While the pace of play remains steady generally, guests are advised to allow some extra time in the latter half of the course, as a slower rhythm occasionally develops. Walking the course is encouraged, supported by smooth terrain and clear paths, though sturdy shoes are recommended to navigate the subtle hills.

Belles Springs Golf Course offers an honest, rewarding round framed by Pennsylvania’s rural quietude. It delivers a memorable day on the links that is as refreshing as it is accessible, ideal for golfers who appreciate a well-kept, thoughtfully routed course with natural beauty and a welcoming pace.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by two lengthy par-5s that challenge distance and shot placement, alongside subtle elevation contours impacting club selection. Parkland style fairways framed by mature trees offer a gentle yet engaging test. The backdrop of local farmland and open sky enhances the rural atmosphere without overpowering the golf. Consistently fast, well-kept greens and a friendly pace of play round out the appeal.

I wanted to give this place zero stars, but I’m giving it one — only because my husband and son said the course itself was very nice. I’ve taken time to pray and reflect before writing this. My husband and our 19-year-old son came up from Florida for a visit and were excited to play a round of golf together. They brought their clubs and booked an early morning tee time. When they arrived at the clubhouse, my husband politely said, “Good morning, we have a tee time.” The man behind the counter — and I hesitate to call him a gentleman — responded with, “I doubt you do,” in an unnecessarily rude tone. Despite the treatment, my husband, a kind and well-educated Puerto Rican man, smiled and gave his name. The man glanced at the list, confirmed the tee time without apology, and coldly told them where the carts were. My son was shocked. My husband, trying to keep the peace, told him, “Unfortunately, you’ll come across people like this in the world. Don’t let them steal your joy.” He brushed it off — I cannot. We’re active golfers and often travel to courses for both leisure and business. Sadly, this is not a place we’ll recommend. To the man who treated them that way: I’ll pray for you. Judging someone by the color of their skin is wrong — and it does not belong in any clubhouse, on any course, anywhere.

Found this little hidden gem during the LLWS. Beautiful course, with lots of elevation changes, in pristine condition - and extremely low greenfee. Nice service in all aspects of the round. A few really challenging holes, including a 608 yd monster par 5 on the front nine and a 548 yd par 5 on the back nine. The area around is also beautiful, with lots of Amish farms and back roads.

The golf course itself is gorgeous but the staff pretty much ruins it. Sad they can't higher professionals that care about their job and not on power trips. Doesn't matter how good the coarse is if the staff make it miserable.

PROS: GREAT course with lots of photo ops. Played for $25 on Group Golfer. It was over 100 degrees outside, yet still had great time. Pro shop was nothing special. Staff was professional.. Not overly or underly friendly. BREATHTAKING views-------that are probably even better in the fall. Seemed like a photo op every other hole. Good variety of challenge depending on which tees you opted for. I played the front 9 in 40 from seniors and the back 42 from whites. Probably 500 yards difference. VERY generous senior tee locations. Greens were very consistent. Fairly open course with not a lot of danger. As open as it was, found LOTS of shade to wait under when having to wait on other golfers. Snack shop and bar with locker room and shower----which I definitely needed when done. Bartender was wonderful filling up my water bottles for trip to next destination. CONS: not much. Pace of play on back 9 was a tad slow, but not the worst. Hooked up with local and had a great chat and comparable level of play. If not so far away would DEFINITELY play again!!!!!!!

The course was in great condition. They had the leaves cleaned up in the rough making it easier to find the "occasional" 😉 ball that started from the fairway. Pace of play was very good. The view of the fall colors on the course and the surrounding area was spectacular!
