Sandia Resort & Casino Golf Course Overview

Albuquerque, New Mexico, USACentral New Mexico

Sandia Resort & Casino’s 27-hole golf course combines parkland elements with desert landscape, offering a versatile and approachable layout. Set against the dramatic Sandia Mountains, the course invites players of all skill levels to enjoy its strategic design and resort amenities within a distinctive Southwestern setting.

Course Overview

Located within the vibrant grounds of Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the on-site golf course offers an inviting 27-hole layout designed to engage players of varying abilities. This semi-private facility is arranged across three distinct nine-hole courses, each presenting its own character while blending naturally with the surrounding high desert terrain. The course showcases a blend of parkland styling and desert influences, using native vegetation and strategic water features to challenge golfers without overpowering the experience.

Elevation changes and panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains frame the backdrop, giving players a sense of openness despite the course’s thoughtful routing through well-defined fairways and mature trees. The course plays firm and fast on many of its greens, rewarding precise approach shots and strategic course management. While some holes test shot-shaping skills and distance control, the design encourages playability and options, making it accessible to a broad range of golfers—from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned competitors aiming for a tactical round.

Sandia’s clubhouse complements the golf experience with modern amenities, including a fully stocked pro shop, practice areas, and casual dining options that overlook portions of the course. The clubhouse’s position allows players to settle in before or after their round and take in the arid landscape highlighted by western sunlight. The resort setting means golfers can combine their day on the course with gaming, dining, and spa experiences just steps away.

The layout’s three nine-hole combinations enable flexibility in play, allowing guests to build a round tailored to their time and interests. Its desert environment brings prevailing winds that subtly test one’s tempo and club selection without overwhelming a round. Walking the course is welcomed, revealing the subtle contours underfoot and a variety of natural sights unique to the high plains of New Mexico.

Sandia Resort & Casino’s golf experience emphasizes balance—inviting players to embrace a lively resort setting while staying connected to golf’s fundamental elements. Whether seeking a casual walk or an engaging challenge, this course offers a well-maintained, visually striking place to enjoy the game amid the Southwest’s distinctive climate and landscape.

Course Highlights

The course’s three distinct nine-hole loops each emphasize different landscape elements: one leans into tree-lined fairways reminiscent of traditional parkland courses, another integrates sweeping desert vistas, while the final nine presents thoughtful elevation changes with panoramic mountain views. Water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed to demand precise shot-making. The combination of terrain and design showcases the Southwest’s natural beauty without sacrificing game flow or accessibility.

What's a vacation without visiting a casino?😄 Spent a few hours on the casino floor. It was our first time here. WOW, is this place big! Well layed out. And plenty of places to eat! We did not stay in their hotel this time but plan to on our next visit.

My first time visit. Drove in from Denver, Colorado. I went here as a suggestion from a friend claiming it was a nice place. The 6 hour drive was well worth it. I was surprised how big it was compared to Black Hawk casinos. The variety of slots, table games and food places were great! Dealers, floor attendants and guest service people were friendly. Good amount of slots, ATM/Voucher machines were easy to find. The pizza and sushi I bought from one of the food places was good. I was surprised that the sushi was priced fairly decent for the amount. I would definitely visit again. I would go more often if I lived a little closer.

Checked in for a one night stay while heading to Colorado. 1. Rooms — nice and spacious 2. Location — nice area 3. Casino — fine 4. Service — Can I give it a ZERO? Council Room restaurant (only thing open other than fast food). Food was fine, not anything special. Waitress dropped off food and disappeared. Never came to ask if we needed more water, another drink, etc. Had to track down a manager to get the check, and he basically didn’t give a flip. Dropped teh check and walked away. Tried to get a drink at 9:30. EVERYTHING IS CLOSED other than the bar in the casino. Problem is — NO servers, and ONE bartender, so the line was massive. Room service also closed. If you are going to call yourself a “resort” or a “casino,” act like one. Will not some in again.

Stopped by while driving from Colorado to the airport nearby for a meal and a little gambling. Beautiful place with a nice view, didn't win any money but had a great meal of Mexican food while there. Employees were very helpful and nice. Will definitely be back to explore Albuquerque soon.

Disappointed with Customer Service at Road Runner Grill While I had no issues with the rooms during our stay, my experience at the Road Runner Grill was shockingly bad—and it completely soured our visit. The main issue? A staff member named Jason, who I assume is the manager, and whose behavior was incredibly dismissive and rude. I came up front to ask for the parfait that was missing from my order, and also asked if I could get some granola with it. Instead of helping or even acknowledging the mistake, Jason pointed to the very end of a long line and said, “It’s over there,” as if I were inconveniencing him. I looked over and saw the granola just sitting on the counter—easily accessible. Yet I stood there and waited all over again, for a long time, just for a tiny cup of granola. And even though I was frustrated, I remained polite and calm. But things got even worse. Once we sat down to eat, I noticed my Frito Pie didn’t even have Fritos. I went back up to ask for what I paid for, and Jason looked me dead in the eye… then looked away and ignored me. Not a word. Not a gesture. Just turned away as if I didn’t exist. It was infuriating. I’ve worked in customer service—I know it’s not easy. I know it’s exhausting. But I also know that treating people with even the bare minimum of decency isn’t too much to ask. I’m honestly so disappointed and angry. This kind of service is unacceptable—especially from someone in a leadership role. I expected better. I deserved better. And so does every other guest who walks through that door.

I am impressed. For a casino in New Mexico, this is a pretty awesome place. Parking garage, golf course and a wonderful casino floor. I thought the layout was perfect. The rooms are spacious and super clean. I throughly enjoyed the brief stay. Pool was not open yet but the hot tub was good and hot. Very clean!
