Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole championship layout set amidst the tranquil woodlands of Central New Jersey, just a short drive from Edison. This private club’s course is a meticulously maintained parkland design that balances strategic challenge with approachable playability. Well-defined fairways sweep through gently rolling terrain, lined with mature trees that frame each hole, creating subtle but effective natural hazards that test precision off the tee.

The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. It caters to low and mid-handicap players, demanding thoughtful club selection and controlled shot-shaping, especially on holes where well-placed bunkers guard complex, undulating greens. Despite its championship pedigree, the layout also welcomes golfers who prefer a measured pace, with tee boxes set forward enough to encourage confident play without sacrificing interest.

One of the club’s hallmarks is its commitment to conditioning, reflected in firm but fair greens that hold approach shots well while facilitating smooth putting surfaces. The natural contours of the land, paired with deliberate landscaping, allow the course to breathe in each season—offering vibrant colors in autumn and shaded respite during summer rounds.

Plainfield Country Club’s clubhouse serves as the social heart, providing members with elegant dining options and event spaces overlooking the course. Amenities extend beyond the fairways to include a practice facility designed to hone every aspect of the game. Gentle elevation changes inject variety without overwhelming the golfer, while ample turf areas encourage comfortable walking.

For players planning a visit, walking is encouraged and straightforward given the course’s gentle slope and legible routing. Proper footwear is recommended for early morning dew or after rainfall. Membership policies keep the course exclusive, maintaining its peaceful atmosphere and top-tier condition year-round.

This course offers a refined golf experience for those seeking a day of focus, strategy, and appreciation of a traditional parkland setting just minutes from Edison’s vibrant community life.

I had the pleasure of walking the track as my son had a high school match at the venue. All I got to say is wow! Only got to see the back 9, but every hole, green was meticulously kept.

Spectacular course. The greens had been recently plugged so they were not at their best. Beautiful clubhouse and facilities. The food was okay at best but the service was wonderful. Just a first rate private club.

On vacation and stopped to watch my friends grandson play golf for his High School. Beautiful course! We walked 9 holes following behind his group. Just a beautiful course, maintained perfectly. Yes, I'm jealous he got to play the course! lol I wish I could! 🤞🏻

Absolutely a beautiful golf course. I am grateful to have been able to have played it thru my RIGA membership. The photo I posted is of the 18th hole (which I birdied). Every hole is scenic and had its own challenges but I hope to play it again. Thank you to the members for opening your course up to us.

My personal #1 golf course. Wide fairways and a tricky layout lead to rewarding tee shots. Conditions are 2nd to none. If a member invites you to go, consider yourself lucky and cancel all your plans to be there.
