Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a traditional private golf experience just minutes from Edison, New Jersey. This 18-hole championship course provides a classic parkland layout where mature hardwoods define fairways and deliver a quiet, focused atmosphere for members and their guests. The course unfolds over approximately 6,600 yards from the back tees, featuring a par 71 setup that balances strategic shot-making with approachable playability across all skill levels.

Each hole presents a clear test of accuracy and course management rather than sheer distance, catering to those who appreciate thoughtful golf without overpowering demands. Well-maintained bentgrass greens reward precision, while the fairways have enough width to allow for safer play off the tee. Bunkers are positioned thoughtfully to challenge approach shots, often guarding the pins with subtlety rather than aggressive hazard placement.

The club’s setting is characterized by gentle elevation changes and mature tree lines that provide natural wind breaks and a measure of shelter, qualities that contribute to a consistently pleasant round regardless of the season. Beyond just golf, Plainfield offers a clubhouse with dining options that extend the experience, inviting golfers to linger and socialize after play.

For visitors and members alike, Plainfield supports walking as the preferred mode of transportation on the course, with smooth cart paths available if needed. The terrain is largely forgiving on foot, allowing players to enjoy the course’s quiet rhythm and the slow unfolding of its strategic nuances.

Plainfield Country Club’s accessible yet challenging design serves a wide audience—from newcomers looking to sharpen fundamentals to low-handicap players seeking subtle strategic elements. Familiarity with the course reveals the thoughtful routing and natural contours that shape a memorable round in Central New Jersey’s golfing landscape.

Course Highlights

The course’s strategic design integrates mature hardwood trees that define fairways and create natural corridors. Bunkers are strategically placed near greens to influence approach shot selection. I do not golf, so this review is toward the facility, staff, and tennis for my family’s membership (2 kids). Overall solid club for the price you pay (compared to others). When the tennis courts are maintained the four of them are great to play on, and are typically always open. They also have new 2 pickle ball courts and plan to add more. The gym is good, has all the main items you need for a great workout. Pool is good, makes our kiddos happy. But the best part and why I’m even able to get time to play tennis and workout is their daycare, ran by Mrs. Lee. She is exactly who you want watching after your kids, they literally will ask to go to the CC just so they can see her haha. Would recommend joining at least to try everything out for a few months to see if it’s what you are looking for!

My husband and I have a membership that we use mainly for the gym, driving range, and occasional golf. We have a 2 year old daughter and we love the childcare. The staff and playroom are excellent, and my daughter looks forward to going there. They often have fun activities and even did something special when it was her birthday. I am able to workout regularly, go the driving range, eat dinner with husband, or even golf while knowing she is well taken care of. The childcare really makes the membership worthwhile, as there is really nothing else I can think of that would enable you to have date nights with your significant other when you have young kids in which childcare if provided. The food in the Grille is very good and they often have special theme and parties that are included in the membership. It is great to have events to go to on holidays especially and meet other people.

We love coming to the country club to workout and swim. My kids love Mrs. Lee and the childcare room. A separate area for school age kids would be nice so older kids don't have to be with the babies.

Child care only because our experience outside of that was subpar for a “country club” FIVE STARS FOR DAYCARE! We were members for a year & the focus on kids and The activities for them was amazing. Especially for holidays! The caregivers that stuck around were so great with the kids. Especially Lee, she is a top TIER care giver. I wish she could do all the things there! She is so clean, well spoken, mature, a mother herself, responsible, everything I’m looking for in a care giver at a country club in paying a lot of money to come to spend more money. My kids adored her!

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at the club. Mrs. Lee, in the daycare, is absolutely wonderful—kind, caring, and always going above and beyond to make sure the kids are safe, happy, and entertained. It gives me total peace of mind knowing they’re in such good hands, which lets me truly enjoy everything else the club has to offer. The golf course itself is top-notch. It’s beautifully maintained thanks to the superintendent and crew, and always in excellent condition. The pro shop staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. And the practice facilities are just as well cared for, making it easy to work on every part of your game. It’s a great all-around experience for the whole family.
