Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents a classic 18-hole parkland layout just outside Edison, New Jersey. Known for its strategic design and refined private setting, the course blends natural terrain with precise challenges suitable for a broad range of players.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience shaped by classic design principles that emphasize strategic shot-making over sheer length. Located just outside Edison in Central New Jersey, this course unfolds across gently rolling terrain framed by mature trees and thoughtfully maintained fairways. Its parkland style cultivates a calm yet focused atmosphere, inviting players to carefully gauge distance and trajectory amid well-placed bunkers and undulating greens.

The course’s layout is balanced and deliberate, making it suitable for a wide range of golfers. While competitive players will appreciate the subtle challenges in green contours and the need for precise iron play, the design does not overwhelm novices or higher handicaps. The routing encourages steady rhythm and course management, allowing players to engage with the game’s mental dimension as much as the physical.

Practically, Plainfield Country Club prioritizes member comfort alongside playability. The clubhouse serves as a refined gathering space where members can socialize and enjoy amenities after their round, and the course conditions reflect meticulous maintenance standards typical of an established private club. Walking is encouraged, with gentle inclines and well-kept cart paths accommodating all players. Golfers should plan appropriate footwear for grass that holds moisture in cooler seasons.

One notable feature includes a stretch of holes framed by hardwoods that create natural strategic corridors, where wind subtly influences shot selection without dominating play. Certain greens demand attention with multi-tiered designs that reward thoughtful approach shots but can penalize rushed decisions. This balance gives Plainfield Country Club its quiet appeal—not by testing extreme distance or hazards, but by inviting players to think creatively and trust their fundamentals.

For visitors and members alike, the course offers a serene, focused golf experience within reach of Edison’s urban conveniences. It remains a place where tradition and thoughtful design converge, making each round a personal challenge set against a refined backdrop.

Course Highlights

Plainfield Country Club is distinguished by its mature tree-lined fairways and subtle elevation changes, offering strategic bunkering that challenges precision rather than power. Several holes incorporate multi-tiered greens demanding accuracy and thoughtful approach shots. The course’s setting balances tranquility with a quiet sense of competitive tradition.

Very prejudice people We had a tournament there And the Marshall Kurt was yelling and screaming at us For no reason We talked to the main guy today. His name is Jim and he said that he agreed with him. So my point of view, if you’re not white, don’t go there very unprofessional golf course It is what it is

Low cost but you get what you pay for. Greens are surprisingly decent (aside from ball marks) but pace of play is a huge issue. Probably wouldn't come back unless you live nearby. Lot of rowdy guys in cargo shorts. No ball marks fixed, no bunkers raked, loud music all over.

The course was very well maintained, but the marshall is very concerned about how fast you play. It was my first time playing golf and he hounded us for the last 5 holes about things we could do to speed up. I would not recommend going here if you are new to the sport.

Our group paid $2,500 to host a large golf tournament here. Despite that significant investment, one of our group members returned to the course today and was treated with hostility and removed without a valid explanation. The treatment we received was not only unprofessional but felt blatantly racist and prejudiced. To make matters worse, the starter—who thinks he’s “Stone Cold Steve Austin” impersonator—was rude, condescending, and clearly on a power trip.and clearly hates his job If this is how paying customers are treated, especially minorities, it says a lot about the values of this golf course. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming, respectful, or professional environment.

I visited Here Last Saturday recently with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and troubling. From the moment I arrived, there was a noticeable difference in how certain guests were treated — particularly those who didn’t "fit the mold" of the regular crowd. Staff interactions felt cold and dismissive toward members of our group, while others around us were greeted warmly and given far more attention and courtesy. We were questioned repeatedly about our tee time and membership status, even after providing confirmation — something I didn’t see happening to others. There was an overall air of discomfort that made us feel like we didn’t belong, not because of our behavior or attire, but because of who we are. Golf is meant to be a sport that brings people together, but unfortunately, this course seemed more focused on maintaining exclusivity than promoting inclusion. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously, because until then, I cannot recommend this course to anyone looking for a respectful, welcoming environment. Very racist towards people of color that are American
