Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private course steeped in tradition and carefully maintained to provide a balanced challenge for golfers across skill levels. Situated in Edison, New Jersey, this Central New Jersey gem unfolds through a classic parkland layout where mature trees frame fairways that command thoughtful shot placement. The course’s routing leverages subtle elevation changes and well-placed bunkers to keep players engaged throughout the round without overwhelming less experienced golfers.

Fairways tend to be generous yet strategic, inviting rhythm and accuracy off the tee, while greens present a medium speed contour that rewards sound putting. The overall conditions reflect a club committed to quality, from tight mowing lines to consistent greens, making it a reliable test under varying weather conditions. Water hazards appear sparingly but at critical junctions, adding a layer of tactical consideration especially when the wind plays through the tree line.

The surrounding landscape enhances the experience with a quiet, park-like setting offering both shade and open vistas, striking a measured balance between natural beauty and functional golf architecture. Though a private facility, the club’s atmosphere is welcoming to members and their guests, with clubhouse amenities that include dining options and a well-appointed pro shop, rounding out a visit that caters to both social and serious golf pursuits.

Walkers will appreciate the smooth terrain and thoughtful tee placement, making the course accessible for those preferring to engage fully with the landscape on foot. The course layout avoids unnecessary long carries, ensuring pace of play remains steady. For golfers seeking a private club environment that blends tradition and playability, Plainfield Country Club stands out as a quiet yet compelling destination just outside Edison.

Planning a trip here promises a grounding golf experience marked by steady challenges and natural grace rather than dramatic flair. It’s a course that encourages honing fundamentals and savoring the quiet moments in the rounds where focus and nature quietly align.

My husband and I and my son, his wife and our 3 grandchildren were here during memorial day weekend. Overall, the place has beautiful scenery and the service was great especially the servers in the restaurant. They were always happy to help. The breakfast was good but a bit pricey and turkey or chicken sausage options would have been nice for those who don't eat pork. For the most part the rooms were clean but very outdated. Get rid of the 1970's wallpaper, lol! I think this place would be perfect and could get more business if they catered towards young families as well and had a play area for kids, a kids pool or splash pad and not have a naked lady statue! Wheelchair or stroller accessibility is not to great here.

I just wanted to shout out to Mike, a team member that was so kind and helpful to me in the parking lot getting my car out of the snow when I was trying to leave. Every single employee we came in contact with was so polite, kind and helpful. The girls at check in were lovely and so sweet to my younger daughter. We rented skis and the process was so easy! We have stayed at other ski resorts and this one is my favorite. Lots of options to hang out as a big group, live music and the hot tub and pool are great! Can't wait to come back!

We’ve stayed at the highlands previously and the rooms were really nice! They have a grill outside we were able to use and the pool was heated for the chilly night. We love going to the highlands to ride the mountain bike park! Everyone on the lift is super nice & enjoyable. The trials are gnarly and really fun! They have everything from flowy to techy.

First and foremost, the highland condos where we stayed may be privately owned and managed by the resort. That said, they are extremely dated and poorly maintained. See pictures of the sad deck. The kitchen utensils are a mess of things that may or may not be useful if you choose to prepare a meal. Perhaps bring a couple of good knives and a cutting board. I will add that the resort has recently opened a par 3 course at the foot of the slopes behind the lodge named Doon Brae. This is where they receive 5 stars for service. It is new enough that there isn't signage for the course. Sign in is a small shack adjacent to the enormous putting course. I was directed there by a delightful young lady who made her way out of a shuttle van to walk me nearly to the sign in. The course has nice little carry bags that are free of charge; as are the green fees with your resort stay. It was the most enjoyable experience I had at the resort.

Everyone is super friendly. Lots of activities loved the rolling 27 hole putting green. Ice cream social with Corey our friendly server. Shuttle service is nice around the property especially Duke who went out of his way for us.
