Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents a classic 18-hole parkland course that blends rolling fairways and mature hardwoods within a private setting. With a balance of challenge and approachability, this Central New Jersey layout caters to a wide range of skill levels, complemented by inviting clubhouse amenities and a walking-friendly environment.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an exclusive golfing experience within a meticulously maintained 18-hole layout located in Central New Jersey. This private course presents a classic parkland style, characterized by gently rolling terrain punctuated with mature hardwoods and strategically placed bunkers that frame most greens. The club’s grounds extend over several hundred acres, providing a peaceful retreat from nearby urban life and a setting where the game unfolds with a satisfying blend of challenge and accessibility.

From the first tee through the closing hole, players encounter a thoughtfully designed routing that rewards precision and strategy more than raw power. Fairways are generous but guarded by occasional water hazards and thoughtfully placed sand traps, inviting a variety of shot shapes and club selections. The course’s par of 72 stretches just under 6,800 yards from the championship tees, offering enough length to test low handicap players, yet multiple tees ensure it remains approachable for golfers across skill levels. The subtle undulations and lively greens demand careful attention, especially when afternoon breezes pick up, subtly influencing approach shots and putting lines.

The clubhouse serves as the heart of Plainfield Country Club, welcoming members with traditional charm and amenities that range from a well-appointed pro shop to dining spaces that overlook the course’s most scenic vantage points. Social events and member tournaments add vitality to the club atmosphere without disrupting the quiet integrity of the golfing experience.

Walking the course is encouraged and practical, with well-maintained pathways and modest elevation changes that keep the round engaging but manageable. Golfers are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and prepare for typical seasonal conditions that Central New Jersey offers, with spring and fall often providing ideal playing weather.

Plainfield Country Club balances the history and tradition of a classic Northeast private club with a layout and setting that invites thoughtful play. Its commitment to maintaining challenging yet fair conditions makes it a respected destination for members seeking an authentic golf experience shaped by nature’s subtle contours and the craft of timeless course design.

Course Highlights

Highlights include elevated tees providing long sightlines across the parkland layout and firm, undulating greens that reward precise short game. Signature holes feature a par-4 with a dogleg right bordered by hardwoods and a finishing par-5 that demands strategic placement off the tee. The course retains a traditional character reflective of classic Northeastern designs, focusing on natural contours rather than forced hazards.

This was a bucket list course I have been wanting to play for awhile. Finally got the chance to play and it didn't disappoint. The course was in great shape and the views are stunning. My highlight was a birdie on #8 and would highly recommend getting a caddie. Our caddie Steve was great and made the experience even more enjoyable with his knowledge and help with reading greens. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play here again.

One of the most beautiful places in the world. The grounds are amazing, as are the staff, and restaurants. The golf is top tier. Pebble Beach may not be the toughest golf course, but it is one of the most beautiful. Couldn't be happier with the trip out there with 6 of my closest friends. Memory of a lifetime! It is not over-hyped.

Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe this golf course. Probably, perfection would do it more justice. The views are amazing. The weather was perfect with a touch of the ocean breeze. I love coming back to this place!

Pebble Beach was hands down the most amazing golf course I've ever played. Don't need a descriptive review. Just look at the photos. The course and property are amazing. We also had a great caddie. Highly recommend the services of a caddie during a round. Only issue I had was that during a post round shoe cleaning and wipe down of my brand new white FootJoys, the towel or cleaner that the gentleman used left a faint bluish/green hue. Not the end of the world, but not exactly ideal.

A very good location to visit. You can choose just to visit and enjoy nature, view, cold weather and restaurant as the accommodation is so expensive. A recommended place to drop even for short visit for those who drive through from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

This is one of the most beautiful places. One can't beat the views of the Carmel Peninsula. It's absolutely breathtaking! Even for non-golfers like myself we appreciate its beauty and history. It's a must-see to visit this beautiful beach and the Golf Course.
