Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club presents a refined and traditional golfing experience set within the rolling landscape just outside Edison, New Jersey. This private, 18-hole championship course unfolds across well-manicured parkland, blending classic greens and fairways with mature trees and gentle elevation changes that shape each hole’s character. The course offers a deliberate balance between challenge and accessibility, crafted to test precision and strategic thinking without overwhelming players of moderate skill.
Approaching Plainfield, golfers are met with lush, emerald fairways framed by carefully positioned bunkers that demand thoughtful shot placement. The greens run true and are sculpted with subtle breaks, encouraging careful reading and steady putting. While low handicappers will appreciate the intricacies built into the layout, the course remains welcoming to a broad range of players due to its forgiving tee options and clear sightlines.
The setting refrains from dramatic mountainous shifts or rugged coastal winds, focusing instead on a classic parkland style that rewards shot control and course management. Early morning rounds reveal light mists hovering over the fairways, while afternoons often bring the steady rustle of leaves from the mature oaks and maples lining each hole.
Amenities at Plainfield Country Club extend beyond the fairways, featuring a well-appointed clubhouse that serves as a gathering place with dining options, locker rooms, and event spaces tailored to member needs. The club's private status means access is exclusive, ensuring a tranquil atmosphere free from the distractions of public play.
Players planning a visit should prepare for comfortable walking in soft-soled shoes, as the course encourages walking to better appreciate the layout and mitigate wear. The blend of playability, mature landscaping, and restrained course architecture crafts an experience that feels both classic and personal, making every round a deliberate journey rather than a simple round of golf.
Plainfield Country Club stands as a respected venue within Central New Jersey golf, offering members a memorable blend of strategic design and understated natural beauty.

Great golf course! A quick 9 hole course with traditional length holes to challenge your skill level. Greens were clean and rolled quickly, and fairways were cut nicely. Pace of play was slower, but its a much less intimidating course for a new golfer to start out at. Highly recommend! Great time here.

Usually love this place. In the neighborhood and a nice little course. Went Sunday 5/4 and was greeted with the most unkind service. Just asked to have balls for the driving range and they were out? Crossed arms, no smile, no offer of when they’d have more. Just “we’re out of balls”. Definitely not what I expected.

One of the worst places I ever been. One of the most unpleasant establishments I have ever visited. The front desk employee was exceptionally rude, reckless, and arrogant. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment, as it will waste your time and money. His behavior exemplifies a lack of professionalism and uncultured personality.

Pics of the first Par 3 hole below (just happened to find my pic of landing the green with a 7 iron.) Nice little course, well kept, staff is very cool. Only complaint if you had to have one is the parking lot is fairly small, so occasionally when it's busy you have to circle and wait for a spot.

Course was in good shape. Fun design but not too challenging for regular golfers. Beautiful fall colors. But good luck finding ball if you go into rough because of all the leaves.
