Course Overview

Situated just west of Edison in Central New Jersey, Plainfield Country Club commands attention as a private, 18-hole championship course tailored to test skill while inviting enjoyable play for a broad range of golfers. The layout unfolds across gently rolling terrain marked by carefully contoured fairways and strategic bunkering that demands thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming novice players.

The course’s parkland style thrives amid mature trees that frame each hole, lending a sense of calm focus to every tee shot and approach. The greens offer subtle breaks with moderate speed, rewarding precision and patience. With total yardage extending beyond 6,900 yards and a par of 72, this track strikes a balance that challenges low handicappers yet remains accessible for all carrying a handicap.

Well-defined cart paths and subtle elevation changes make getting around comfortable, though strong golfers will appreciate the option to test endurance on foot.

Particular holes stand out for their thoughtful design — especially the par-4 fifth, where a guarded green invites strategic positioning and precision iron play. Water hazards, while sparing, come into play mostly on the back nine, adding a tactical element without overcomplicating scoring.

Membership is by invitation only, underscoring the club’s private nature and critical attention to guest experience. Whether honing competitive edge or enjoying a relaxed round, Plainfield Country Club offers a thoroughly satisfying pace and setting. The course rewards players who adapt to its methodical demands and relish the rhythm of classic parkland golf in New Jersey’s heartland.

Course Highlights

Plainfield Country Club boasts strategically placed bunkers and subtly contoured greens that reward shotmaking. The par-4 fifth hole stands out with a protected green demanding accuracy. Location is beautiful for a Christmas party. The event room was pretty cold if you're not moving around especially near the windows. The last 2 years the bartenders were very fun and outgoing. This year they were very bland and boring. They were all business and didn't smile or seem personable. Food came out late. While I was still eating and actively chewing my fillet the waiter tried to take my plate. I had to stop him and let him know I wasn't done. When dessert came many of the co-workers were confused as to why some got some blobs of whipped cream and others got cheesecake. Many thought it was a joke since that is typically used as a topping and not the primary dessert. Guests were also not asked what dessert they would like though some requested what they we're interested in and we're brought the dessert of choice. Some confusion happened with the drink tickets as well. 2 years ago Redd's we're included without using a ticket and last year angry orchard was included without a drink tickets. This year we we're informed that they are not part of the included drinks and they did require a ticket. Very disappointed this year. Overall a fun time with co-workers but was not impressed with the facility.

Attended a party here Dec 2023. The food was above average and the service was good (buffet) the bartenders in the room were talking during the entertainment portion of our evening and it carried through the large room. Ladies bathroom was small but clean and functional.

Lovely place the inside is so beauitful. We are planning our wedding here. And they are so excited to be able to have our special day here. There is no crazy rules like most places. And they make your vision come true. And they make sure that they stay into your budget. Seriously a amazing place and the locker rooms are great especially the mens as I hear.

The COUNTRY CLUB pool is horrible. Almost every single year (we have been members here for eight years) and especially these past several years the heater had been broken. They have had this same heater for 50+ years and every summer they have a “part” that needs to get fixed, but it never gets totally fixed. Last year the pool heater got “fixed” towards the beginning of July, but the pool was still cold for the rest of the summer. Little kids tend to be able to withstand swimming in the cold water but these past few summers, they don’t even want to swim. We haven’t even been to the pool the summer because we don’t want to freeze in the COUNTRY CLUB pool. This is a country club pool, not some random city pool, we pay several hundreds of dollars a month to be members to this country club pool and we should not be having to stay home because of a broken heater. Next year we will be canceling our membership because of this and if it isn’t fixed, we certainly will cancel our membership. We have talked to many other members and they are sick of this too. This is supposed to be a fun family activity, but it has turned out to be everything but that. Pine Valley Country Club advertises that the pool is heated, but obviously that is not true.Pine Valley does not need to be getting new parts because we all know that they don’t work, they need to replace this heater and get a whole new one. Now because of this, I DO NOT recommend joining the pine valley country club pool membership.
